Got the covers swapped today…..seems to really have made a difference. I need to take a highway trip to confirm, but so far NO blowby. Before, with the oil cap off, I could feel positive pressure “pulses” coming out of the hole, but nothing with the new cover. Here’s a few pics of what all is involved: The old Renix cover: Image Not Found Removed, you can see the difference in the towers versus the baffle plate: Image Not Found The gasket is different (I can’t get the photo to rotate on photobucket…sorry): Image Not Found The new gasket comes with grommets for the sleeves that the cover bolts fit thru, pop them out and install them: Image Not Found Had to change the nipple fitting on the manifold for the larger vacuum tube: Image Not Found Installed, and I cleaned up all the Renix vacuum tubing mess Image Not Found Image Not Found

Pete, Did it still have the fuel pump/sending unit assembly in it, and if yes, was it in decent condition? I could use a spare.... Jeff

twist and pull the diapragm thingy....the shaft is attached to the inside of it. It will pull the shaft from the housing. Jeff

270, and I495 (inner and outer loop) around DC is a disaster, no two ways around it. I avoid them at all costs....sorry you found out the hard way. If you ever have to travel that way again, hit me backchannel...there's a couple alternatives depending on where you're going. Merry Christmas! Jeff

I got the brand new *cough* 'spensive FelPro gasket when I did the rebuild. Not sure on the part #, but it is the molded blue rubber one with the metal reinforcements around the bolt holes... edit: this one... Image Not Found

Don (or anyone), is there any reason a later model VC wouldn’t work on the Renix head? I picked up this one at the ‘yard today off a ’97….it’s practically brand new. I’m gonna try to fit it up tomorrow and see what happens. If it doesn’t work, I’m only out $3 :D Jeff Image Not Found Notice, there are no towers inside…..there’s a baffle that runs across the top. either spacers or two different sets of aftermarket wheels with different offsets....I hate the width difference myself as well. Stoopid, I say.... Jeff

I had two weldnuts that were stripped on mine. I ended up drilling straight thru the other side of the framerail and adding a longer bolt with a fender washer and nut on the other side. Had to use a right angle drill because the rear quaterpanels are too close to use a regular drill. Jeff

I won't say that my gauge is anywhere near accurate, but at least it gives me a general idea of how much is in the tank :yes: Mine's not a DD anymore, and I pretty much drive it by the odometer (fill it around 125-150 miles or so). Jeff

That's what I'm doing....I'm running an HO pump assembly from a longbed in my Renix. Just gotta remember that "empty" = full tank, and visa versa ;) Jeff
