Yeah....that 21 year old OEM sensor is straight up welded to the block. I got it to rotate about 120 degrees after copious amounts of PB and time. I finally threw in the towel and tightened it back up, for fear of snapping it off and/or the guts falling into the oil pan. I'm gonna drive it a few days and let the PB work its magic and try again over the weekend. What a saga.

Screw it, bought a ching-chong replacement sensor (car quest brand) from AA today. Cashed in a bunch of speed perks rewards i had built up, only paid $16 for it. Ill swap it in tomorrow, then get a new o-ring for the OEM one and keep it as a spare.

I ran 20w50 in mine, lol. 10/30 would result in an idle pressure of about .5 psi. You're in FL, so I'd think you wouldn't have any cold oil issues.

Pretty much confirmed that it's the CPS after a couple more vidjeos on boobtube. I'm going to run down to the junkyard a bit later today and figure out how to get it out. Ill use the oring on it to match up a new one for mine. Worst case is I break mine getting it out and ill have a spare so I won't be stranded.

Thanks. I took it to my buddy's house, who has a huge (like 50x100, 4 bay) garage so I could get it way up in the air so I could get underneath it without a tranny pan in my face and dig around. Didn't even think to get a pic. Ima do some more goggling tonight... I have the full 3.7 engine manual (90 some pages, i used it extensively when i pulled the head) but it doesn't mention this sensor.

Finally got under the KJ to diagnose the PITA drip/leak it has. Thought it was in the trans, but turns out its on the block. Theres a sensor of some kind, I thought it might be the CPS but after googling a bit I don't think it is....its on the passenger side rear of the block, down low, almost where the block mates to the BH. Its got a pigtail coming off of it. Anyone know what it is? The sensor works fine (whatever it does) but I'm guessing the oring that seals is has gone bad. I can't see it leaking, but its obvious thats where my leak is coming from. Completely dry above it, but shiny/glossy all around it and below it. edit: it is DIRECTLY behind the passenger side cat converter....whatever it is, its going to be a real treat to swap out. Yeah, tell me about it. Now that it's warmer, I'm putting her outside when I leave for work in the morning. Some mornings it's a bit of a struggle......she wants to stay in bed. When I get back home around 5-ish, she pops out of the bushes (or climbs down from the pear tree) beside the garage door before I even get to the top of the driveway. Weekends, and/or days I don't go to work, she roams in and out all day, depending on her mood. She likes chasing birds and attacking sticks/twigs lying in the grass. And sleeping.

Garage cat has got her layout going in the garage. On top of the chest freezer is the kitchen/dining room (I have a dry food feeder and water feeder set up there, plus she gets wet food 2X per day), then she hops over to the hood on the wife's car (the patio) to lounge for a bit. Later in the evening, she hops over to the hood of the KJ where I have a pillow bed set up for her (the living room) and then eventually into the front seat for bed on another cat bed (bedroom). Litter box on the floor in the corner, aka the bathroom. LOL.

Been awhile, bumping this. Absolutely gorgeous early summer day here today. I grabbed some extra meaty pork country ribs, marinated them all morning in yellow mustard and fat boy pork rub seasoning. Then 4.5 hours on the smoker @ 200-225. Sauced them and they are just chilling in the smoker as the fire dies out. Boiling off some fresh local corn, along with some baked beans and strawberry shortcake to finish it all off. And homemade limeaid, too. Welcome to early summer.

Most of it, from what I could tell anyway, was little pieces of carpet padding. And straw/grass. And it all STUNK.

I had my MJ in an outbuilding on the family farm for more than a few months over a spring/summer when I converted it to 4WD. Got it all done, jumped in and fired it up and promptly created a snowstorm of bedding material inside the cab. Nesting material (and God knows what all else) blew out of every vent in the dash. That was not a fun day.

And MJ's have an extra floor brace for the seat brackets that XJ's don't.

We're not laughing at you, we're laughing WITH you...... That was one of the earliest mistakes I ever made while wrenching on mine. Glad you got 'er fixed! -
Just remember BCT (and to some extent AIT) are just a big head game to break everyone down so they can be rebuilt to all perform the same functions in the exact same way. Everyone has a specific job to do, and your drill sergeant(s) job is to be a drill sergeant and teach you. At the end of the day, they go home just like everyone else and take off the uniform. Next morning, they come back into work and do it all over again.

Congrats on home ownership. We rented/leased for the first 15 years before finally buying (building) a house. The key is all in the timing, and right now the RE market is going bananas. Lots of speculation why, I won't get into all that, but homes aren't getting cheaper anytime soon. Interest rates are still relatively low too, but that's not going to last too much longer either. Post up plenty of pics of the new digs once you get in.

I'm going to unscrew/pop the motor out tomorrow. It's all screwed together, which to me means it should be a serviceable part.....LOL.

Had the first ever problem with my house generator (Generac 20K, natural gas fed). Not actually a generator problem, but rather the ATS that's integrated into my panel (the generator came with the new panel as a package when it was installed 10 years ago). The ATS still works, but it's intermittent and I had it replaced for peace of mind. I kept the old one, and I'm thinking I (or someone) might just be able to replace the 12V motor in it that's the problem. Anyone have any thoughts on this, or is an electrical hobbyist that might want to work on replacing it for me for some $$$? I had a whole new ATS installed (about $400 between part cost and service calls ).....I'd like to try to fix the old one and keep it as a spare/backup in case I ever need it, if possible. If you do end up replacing the MC, bench bleed it before you install it. It "should" come with a little kit of parts for you to use to do that, but if not you can either buy one or make one up out of some spare fittings and short pieces of brake line. Bench bleed it, install caps on the outlets, install it on the booster and then quickly remove the caps and screw the lines into it. Then bleed the whole system again as normal. -
Any updates Pete? I've got to crawl under mine, probably this weekend, to diagnose an annoying little leak. About one drop every few days or so and it's driving me batty. I've been under it once to give a look but I can only see where it's dripping from (the lowest point) and not where it's leaking from. Need to get the front end up on some ramps so I can get under it better and really look around. I did see a youtoobs video of a guy who had a leaking o-ring on some kind of sensor in the back of the trans body. You can buy a new sensor, but he just pulled his and took it to a trans shop to find some new o-rings and reinstalled it. Hopefully that's what mine is. I know it's not the pan gasket, it's coming from somewhere above the pan.

Definitely bleed the MC. Also, make sure your calipers are on correctly on each side. The bleeder needs to be at the top, not the bottom. It's not uncommon to put them on the wrong sides (upside down), especially when replacing both at the same time. (been there, done that, got the tee shirt)
