So I am collecting parts again.....
mjeff87 replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Search for "bellville washers" aka conical washers. They are kind of important in that application. They help spread the clamping force of the bolt head across the manifold. I've used a small stack of regular flat washers in a pinch before when a bellville went missing. They worked, but weren't really right. -
The big storm was all rain for us here (albeit, a very cold, crappy rain at 35 degrees). Got over 2" of rain Wednesday, but I'm not complaining one bit.....I don't have to shovel rain. We're going up to PA next week for Christmas, weather dependant. Where we're headed to in SW PA got 17 inches. If I never see another snow flake again, I'd be happy.

Dang it....I just put a new pan on the KJ. Old one woulda been perfect for a cake (except for the hole I drilled in it to drain it LOL). New pan has a drain plug. I totally would have done that^^^^ just to get a reaction out of my wife.

The others here pretty much covered the Renix bits you need to be concerned about, but I'll just mention that you'll need to swap all of the front end accessories from your MJ block over to the YJ longblock to get it all to play nice. The waterpump/fan is offset in XJ/MJ's but centered on YJ/TJ blocks. It's all plug and play though. Careful you don't snap off any waterpump bolts.

I don't even know where the differential bushings are on these things, lol. I should probably crawl under mine and figure that out at some point. I seriously only drive mine 1X per week....and thats only if the weather is nice on the day I decide to drive it. I'm having too much fun (and saving so much gas) driving the Focus as a DD.

Pull the slave out of the bellhousing. Pop the cap off of the master (make sure you have enough fluid in it), then point the slave downward as far as you can get it. Use the pushrod inside the slave to slowly pump it 10-20 times (push it all the way in and hold it there a couple seconds, then slowly release it). This will force any air bubble back up into the master. The trick is to move slowly but steadily...don't pump it rapidly. That will just keep creating more air bubbles. Reinstall the slave and you're all set.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Payday is tomorrow, I'll send some fundage. If I can remember my Paypal info, lol. Yeah, I use it *that* often.

Trick question......they were both awful I'd have to give the edge to late 70's though. Turkey, white meat or dark?

Ooooh, good one Derf. I have strong convictions on this one, its personal. Jimmy Stewart all. Day. Long. 6 point or 12 point sockets? edit: too slow....sorry

Depends on what the meal is. Enchiladas/chilaqillues....corn. Tacos, flour. I'd go corn overall though, just more of what I eat. Toilet paper....roll off over the top, or underneath?

The yard closest to me: https://chesterfieldauto.com/yard-map-fort-lee/ The Richmond yard (the Ford section looks alot farther away than it actually is): https://chesterfieldauto.com/yard-map-richmond/ They have a third yard, but it's about a 30 minute ride from my house. It's mostly all full size trucks and big SUV's (but they do have the occasional KJ there): https://chesterfieldauto.com/yard-map-trucks/

I laughed way too hard at that.... I go to 2 different primary junkyards (both owned by the same company, one close to me and another one up in Richmond about 20 miles north of me). I like the closer one for obvious reasons, but it's laid out in a linear fashion, and the Ford and Chryco sections are the two farthest away from the entrance. Far enough away that I would pay them $1 for a shuttle/golf cart ride down to them each time I went. The other one up in Richmond is laid out in square sections, and the Chryco and Ford sections are right outside the door. Close enough that I usually don't even drag any tools in when I first go. If I see something I want, it's like a 30 second walk back thru the building to my car to get what I need. The other yard, I take damn near every tool I carry and get a wheelbarrow. You can waste a good 10-20 minutes walking back to your vehicle to grab a forgotten tool (and you have to drag all of your tools you have back with you when you go.....no way I'd take the chance of leaving them inside the yard alone).

One of his best songs, right there. My other favorite is Desdemona (is building a rocketship).

I'm just daydreaming, wishing I was anywhere but here right now....

Sebastian Bach.....dead ringer. Lol

That looks like a nifty little tool. Most OEM inners have flats on them to spin them off but replacements don't. Pipe wrench is my usual go to, like others. But I'm not beyond a good tool designed with some thought put into it for ease of service. The older I get, the more I appreciate tools designed for a specific purpose.

I only get emails for PM's, not for posts. I'm not sure how I set my account up though....that might just be a correct setting lol. Either way, I'm cool with it.

Well...what do ya know. The paper bill showed up in my mail today, only 4 days after the due date. I'm gonna call on Monday and raise some hell. I know from experience that calling over the weekend is pointless.

Some interesting answers and questions here, lol. Reboot. Deep fried or air fried?

Per Nate (over on irate), it's a hosting issue. The domain is still there, it's just a problem with the host. Thankfully. (I'm "Jeff in VA" over there, but really don't post much anymore.....I picked that rather creative screen name back in the XJ Forum days, lol)

The speedometer cable/housing is secured by a small clip that bolts to the frame side UCA bolt underneath. Check that clip to see if it's still attached. If it's not, the cable can bounce around, tapping the UCA and making noise.
