I learned how to sew in home ec way back in high school (and in the Army, lol). People may laugh, but it's a valuable life skill to have. My wife can't sew to save her life......

You should have a 4.56 rear axle, just FYI. Finding a stock 4.56 D30 isn't going to be easy. You might could find a 4.10 one and regear it, or just do a full front/rear axle swap to a different (matching) ratio.

And in other breaking news......some lady just got busted in Disney, in Epcot's Land of the Living ride. She jumped out of the boat and tried to steal a cucumber...... This is why we can't have nice things. Completely off topic, but it's Disney.

No, and that's why I took the time to fill out the online survey. It does identify the store, the date and time that my order was done in. If it was just a local one-off thing, hopefully it will be dealt with internally. Like I said, I should have taken a pic but I didn't. I could try ordering the same from a different store sometime next week to see what I get. I might.

If they want to reduce the portion size, fine......but either spec a smaller pancake from your manufacturer/supplier and still give 3, or keep the same size and just serve 2 (but let customers know the count has changed). DON'T try to rip a 'cake in half and hide it on the bottom of the stack. That's what grinds my gears on this whole thing.

We've all gotten used to (I didn't say "accepted") the way certain manufacturer's have been down-sizing things while keeping prices the same, or even raising them. Things like a half gallon of ice cream is now 59 ounces versus 64, or a gallon of bleach is now 121 ounces instead of 128 (or even 119 ounces like I saw while shopping this weekend ). I'm the kind of guy that just wants what things used to be, even if you're going to charge me more.....don't try to "swindle" me with slight of hand crap, but whatever. However, I've reached my limit. I stopped at a local McD's on the way into work yesterday and picked up a hotcakes and sausage platter 'cause I haven't had them in forever and was hungry for them. Noticed that they are now $4.79 instead of the $3.69 or whatever they were the last time I got them. OK, fine. Drove to work, went to pop the platter in the microwave to heat back up and noticed something odd about the stack of 'cakes. Lifted them apart and the bottom cake (of 3) was actually one pancake ripped in half and "hidden" to make it look like a full stack. Really? Has it actually come to this? I would laugh if it wasn't so sad. Should have taken a picture of it, but I didn't. I did take advantage of the online response survey and left them some colorful feedback on their business plan to save .000002c per portion. But it's an anonyms survey so I expect no response to my complaint. Hopefully some manager gets his/her @$$ in a sling over it, but I doubt it. Full disclosure, McD's only puts a half slice of cheese on their fish sandwiches, and they've been doing that for as long as I can remember. And I'm ok with that, because I know it in advance. I can always ask for an extra slice of cheese if I want it (I don't), but when you expect to order and get 3 pancakes and end up with 2 and a half, that's ridiculous. And.....get off my lawn. Rant off.

questions about my new-to-me MJ in Poland
mjeff87 replied to EagleEar's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is that the driveshaft that's pictured in the bed of the truck? It looks to me like the yoke got pushed back inside the tube. Combine that with the mangled bumper, broken leaf, blown shock and bent up wheels......it looks like that MJ got rear-ended at some point. I'd be taking a really good look at the tailcone of the transmission, and the entire rear adapter section of it, to see if it's ok. Something might have hit the rear end/axle and pushed the driveshaft into the transmission. Hope not, but it's just what I'm seeing from my computer chair a couple thousand miles away from you. edit: check the transmisson mount and crossmember, as well as the engine mounts too. -
Its been a very long week. I'm finally winding down now with a coconut mojito with mint from my garden.

Pete stopped by on his journey back to GA and hung out with us Monday. I make a 9 lb picnic and a chicken on the smoker. Bunch of other picknicey stuff to go with it, plus beer. LOL.

Lol. Just got done cutting the grass....safe travels friend. Great to host you on your sojourn yesterday.

All I can say is I bought a Dewalt 18v impact a few years ago along with a couple spare batteries and z charging station. All was beautiful in my world. Then they D/C'd the 18v and replaced with the 20v Li/ion system. It was cost prohibitve for me to keep all my old 18v batteries, so I bought 2 20v ones and the adapter to use them on my impact. They absolutely suck. If you take them right off the charger they do indeed have more "umpfh" than the 18v, but they don't last for crap. And when they die, they just flat out die with no warning unlike the older batteries that would run down, letting you know you probably should put a new battery in. And they won't hold a charge for more than a week, tops. Bottom line, I'm pissed off at the forced change I had to make, and will probably abandon Dewalt over it. YMMV.

You're gonna be heading into some rain and much cooler weather heading south the next couple days. Be careful on the wet roads.

^^^yeah that. I've been to the falls, Canada side, but it was when I was like 25. My buddy said let's take a roadtrip one day, so we did. Drove from Pittsburgh up on a Wednesday morning. buddy got a speeding ticket in NY for like 90 in a 55....tossed it out the window after the cop pulled out. Crossed the border, got to the falls and it was completely fogged in. We could hear them but couldn't see them at all. Had a $5 beer each at a local place there, then boogied back across the birder back to Buffalo to buy cheap(er) beer. The rest of the night was a blur....stopped at Edinboro College on the way back to visit my then girlfriend (now wife of 28 years) and caught an Allman Brothers concert too. We got home sometime the next day. I would literally die if I tried that now. But, great memories

Transfer case extension housing replacement
mjeff87 replied to BentGear's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should have seen the diff cover on the 8.25 in my KJ. It had never been opened up by me or the PO (it had that OEM orange colored sealant from the assembly line). When I was able to *finally* pry it loose and get it off, I almost had a heart attack. The amount of RTV inside the cover was laughable, and I don't know how much actually fell off and got ground up in the r&p. I'm not sure who actually did it, the axle manufacturer or Chrysler. -
D'oh.

Hmmm...I posted a response to you this morning but it's not showing up. Maybe I didn't actually hit the post button, LOL. Anyways, just an FYI but there's 3 u-pull 'yards down here local to me (all owned by the same company). Doubtful there's an MJ in any of them, and maybe a couple earlier model XJ's, but they are fairly huge and clean for the most part. Depending on what all you're looking for, you might want to check them. I'll give you a guided tour

Just an FYI, there are 3 pull-a-part yards down here by me. Probably not an MJ in any of them, maybe some older XJ's at best. But they're pretty huge, depending on just what you're looking for.

I don't know why, but scrolling through those pics, I absolutely lost it at the giant vacuum cleaner. Very "Douglas Adams"-ish......

After the last escapade with snapping off the spark plug in the head, I was NOT going to rush this repair. Lol.

Victory is mine.....gotta love PB Blaster and a few days of soak time. Popped right out. Now ill take the factory/original one and source a new oring for it and keep it as a spare.

You don't want to be on 95 any further south than where you're going in deleware/new jersey. Especially with a trailer. Trust me.
-
Just an FYI, if you're planning the bay Bridge tunnel down thru the eastern shore...it ain't cheap, and they don't accept EZ pass (or at least they didn't use to). Ive not been over it for a few years but the last time we were it was like $20 per single vehicle (and like I said, they don't use any electronic speed passes). Not sure if dragging a trailer is a separate axle charge or not either). Bottom line, have some cash on hand. Theres about nothing out there, especially an ATM. Mighty beautiful piece of America though.

Godspeed, and be careful. You're hooked to the Dodge....not bringing the KJ? Bummer.

Its a press fit into a machined hole in the side of the block, with an o-ring midsection that seals it. There's a bolt that holds it snug (you can see it in the pic). I got the bolt out, which was a treat in itself due to the cramped quarters, and thought I had it in the bag from there. How wrong I was. I'm pretty sure that the half can of PB I doused it with will work its magic given couple days...ill give it another shot this weekend. Wife came home and I bagged it for today, we went out to a local place for dinner that has a few different beers on tap. Lol.
