  1. Try http://www.nagca.com/forum/, prolly the best.
  2. Perhaps the 4+1 is the most common, I don't know for sure, but it really doesn't matter. I've posted a couple of times in the past regarding the two species of metric ton springs, including the part numbers, load ratings and arch. Most of the info I posted was provided by Charles at Alcan and AMC/Mopar parts manuals. For sure there were two distinct MT leaf spring animals with different specs. I don't need new springs again, but if I did I'd most likely get them from Tom. :D
  3. As far as the 3+2 and 4+1 MT spring years, I'm going by the official parts manuals, and back when I was researching all this and bought mine, it was verified by Charles at Alcan Springs. Bottom line: You never can never say anything in black and white terms regarding how MJs are equipped. They were all gray.......... :D
  4. My new packs were OEM regulation MT 3+2 springs (p/n 5200 3676), not "lift" springs. I measured 3" of additional lift when I installed them to replace my saggy standard duty springs. It actually measured out about 2-1/2" over stock though since my original springs were sagged 1/2". And after a year of hauling crap, they settled out about 1/2" as they all do, so they will give you at least 2", prolly 3" over what you are now. I did not get my MT packs from Tom, since I wasn't aware of him four years ago when I got my springs. Got them here: http://www.generalspringkc.com/leaf_springs/jeep/comancheclub.html. They may be less or more now, give them a call and ask for Joe.
  5. By far the most common were the 3+2 springs (p/n 5200 3676) because they were used on the 86-90 models and there were many more MJs built during those years. The 4+1 springs (p/n 5200 1825), used on the 91-92 HO models, are rare; I've never seen any. But as usual, I'm sure there are exceptions, like JT. And JT's an exception for sure. :D I had pics; gone now. :brows:
  6. Here's the spec sheets for the 5-leaf MJ 4+1 and 3+2 MT springs, courtesy of our good buddy Tom @ Hell Creek. As you can see, the 3+2 has a bit more free arch (9.50" vs. 9.12") and is rated a higher in load capacity (1700 lbs vs. 1440 lbs). I have the 3+2 variety on mine and they netted about 3" of lift. I'm thinkin maybe he could whip up a pair of either variety? Image Not Found Image Not Found
  7. Also, they are no longer available from the dealer. :D
  8. In order to have a headlamp ON buzzer you need to have a functioning chime module. This is the plug in box just to the left of the fuse panel on the drivers side, right up against the kick panel. There were two different chime modules; one was black, one was blue. You need the blue one to get the headlamp ON buzzer. If your's is black, there in no headlamp function and you can swap it out with a blue one. Readily available at your local pick and pull from 91-96 XJs.
  9. Hopefully your fuel pump won't notice it either for a loooooong time Jeff-man. :D
  10. You're prolly right. Most Chryco, GM, Mercedes, and others had ballast resistors of varying values in the fuel pump circuit, but I don't think Fords used them AFAIK. :D
  11. It not only acts like a resistor, it is a resistor, a 1 ohm wire-wound voltage dropping resistor. :D It is relayed into the fuel pump circuit after the engine starts and drops the applied 12V a couple of volts supossedly to make the pump quieter and last longer. It is normal for it to get hot, thus the porcelin body to better dissipate heat.
  12. :agree: 100%. I think 1991 was the last year for the POWER/COMFORT switch, although I've seen exceptions. After that, the AW4 was hardwired in the POWER configuration. 8)
  13. :D Da Buttahbean is just a typical central Alabama good ol' boy. I'm always on the lookout for good BBQ places and I'll have to check out the FULL MOON BBQ next time I'm down that way. Best I've found so far is good old Dreamland BBQ. Mmmmmmmmmm
  14. Hey Mini - did ya get to meet the Butterbean yet? He's got a barbeque place right up the road in Jasper. Damn good barbeque too.
  15. Motion has a good writeup on front bumpstops here: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8559
  16. Cool! Wish I could fix my junk that easily. It might help if you put a dab of white lithium grease on the end of the stalk to reduce friction on the switch. The new ones come like that. :D
  17. I can send ya a module Taz if you want.
  18. Whe wiper switch w. delay in a non-tilt column is p/n 56000032. :D
  19. Yes. Just install the new switch, run the wires down under the column, plug it the delay module, then the other end of the harness goes into the opposite end of the module. Then plug your new stalk w. delay wiper feature, and it'll work. To bad you're not closer; I have a couple of spare modules and the plate tool.
  20. Sorry, misunderstood. In that case you do have to pull the wheel, horn parts, lock plate, ignition switch, etc. etc. to work your way down to it. I did this when I switched to intermittent wipers. It was difficult and a PITA, but some guys on the forum claim they can do it in 30 minutes. You'll need the lock plate tool; about $19 at Autismzone. Makes it a lot easier. And if you're going thru all that, might as well grab a wiper delay module, intermittent wiper stalk, and get the delay wiper switch.
  21. I agree, but the Steelers have been pulling games out in the last two minutes all year. Like they plan it that way or God is on their side. Maybe a bit of both............
  22. The stalk is a press fit. Put it in the right turn blinker position and pull it straight out. An 80s-early 90s GM stalk will work as a replacement, cheap on Ebay.
  23. How about the call at the end when Warner's incomplete forward pass was called a fumble and the ball was turned over to the Steelers? It wasn't even reviewed! Unbelivable. The zebras have a tough job but I'd just like to see one SB that wasn't marred by bad calls. :headpop: Grumble grumble
  24. SUPER Super Bowl, almost a coronary game. Hats off to the Cards, they were a excellent rep for the NFC. And they beat the spread, but lost. :( Not bad for a 9-7 regular season. But the Steelers came through with Holmes' miraculous catch from a perfect Ben throw; they got it done. I think Ben should been MVP, but super team effort overall. Congrats to the Stiller fans.
