  1. I'm need a new fuel pump ballast resistor mine is cracked down the center. The closes one I can find is on Jegs and it 1.0 ohms vs mj oem 1.1 ohms.Would a .1 ohm drop still be functional? Thanks, Mike
  2. The fan fix I got off the yahoo comanche site seams to apply to 89-92 I don't have the fan control relay, rock auto does not list a cooling fan control relay for 87 & 88 but do for 89-92. The 88 Jeep Renix Fuel injection pdf shows an illustration of the driver side engine compartment in front of the shock tower 1st the fan control relay(do not have) next egr valve selenoid that I have, next a few inch in front of that is the fuel pump ballast I have that but could use a new one due to a crack at the mount.I do have in between the egr selenoid and the body ground wire a caped connector that's aprx 2inchs x 3/8 inch but it is an inline connector not at all like a relay connector. I need to get my fan to work and the layout that I have does not seem to match anything I've seen. Also my a/c relay that's located on the passenger side engine compartment (body mount) is a 6 prong male spade type not the 5 prong male spade replacement relay they show for 88 MJ. I fried the fan (it worked this way for two years) buy using an under dash toggle switch jump wired to the body mount a/c relay connector and the relay still plug in. I want the fan to work as stock to go off at 190 degrees any help. Mike
  3. Thanks buddy.Changed out the rear diff lube and I really wish I would have done that along time ago.At lease now it's filled with fresh Mobil 1 and ready for winter. It's great when you can get your hands on a low mile (under 60K)Comanche but the down side is the long periods of time just setting. Later, Mike
  4. The fan never worked but I didn't know that until the temp gauge came on. The radiator does have a temp switch,I replace the a/c relay and it still didn't work, that's why I wired it the way I did. I just now bare wired it back to the a/c socket and crammed the relay into the socket and the fan is running at normal speed again. I would rather have it wired as stock but there is 3 or 4 variables that could be the problem. As I said I'm not the best when it comes to electrical problems.
  5. I don't have any other electrical problems other then the slow running fan. I'll look for some of the threads and rework the setup I have. I'd like to go back to stock ,I inherited this problem from the previous owner that told me he had just put in a new radiator because he was having fan problems. Thanks for the help
  6. My electric fan went out a few years ago so I put a jumper wire on a toggle switch so I can turn it on and off while inside the trusty Comanche. Lately it's been running increasing slower,I've read the thread on the ac/cooling wiring system but I'm not good at dealing with electrical issue's. I'm thinking the fan motor may be on it's way out or not. If someone could walk me through the problem using idiot guide terms that would be great. Thanks, Mike
  7. Thanks for all the info, removing the bed is a pain but the end result make's it well worth it.
  8. Has anyone pulled the bed off there Comanche, any old how to threads I can look at for help removing my six foot bed? I cleaned out the garage and have a good amount of room to place that puppy right in the center with lots of room on all four sides.
  9. Thanks to Brent the problem is solved. The IAC was coated in a thick layer of carbon, cleaned it and the TB and it runs like a champ. Thanks for the expert tech. As far as the TPS when do they tend to fail? Mike
  10. I'll check it all,Thanks for the help.
  11. I have a 88 MJ 4.0L, a/t, 2wd with just under 60k original, it's been a great runner until this week. When I start her up the idle races, if I tap the pedal sometimes it drops. If that doesn't work I have to shut it off and turn the key to the one position for 5 to 10 seconds then start it. The second method gives me a slightly high idle for a few seconds but then drops to a normal idle.Could this be a linkage issue? Any help would be great! Motorr50
