  1. No private cars/trucks allowed on the island or I would have tried.
  2. I got them from a local dealer that went out if business. There are no more at that source. Here are the parts numbers, maybe you can find some on a search: 35000762 superseded to to 55195850.
  3. In 1997 I flew from Kwajalein, Marshall Islands to Waynesboro, VA (7205.9 miles) to pick up my first MJ from the original owner. Then drove it from there to Alabama (645.2 miles). As said above, it was totally worth it.
  4. Me too. But not with the Renault.
  5. Here are the published factory numbers for an 88 MJ with the 4.0L six: 1988 4.0L w. 5-speed, 3.08:1 Axle Ratio 2WD 18 MPG City, 24 MPG Hwy. 0-60 MPH = 9.5 sec. 4WD 18 MPG City, 23 MPG Hwy. 0-60 MPH = 10.0 sec. 1988 4.0L w. 4-speed Auto, 3.55:1 Axle Ratio 2WD 16 MPG City, 21 MPG Hwy. 0-60 MPH = 9.7 sec. 4WD 16 MPG City, 21 MPG Hwy. 0-60 MPH = 10.2 sec. The 2WD and 4WD models get similar MPG. The transmissions (5-spd vs. the auto) have more effect on mileage and performance.
  6. As a young boot in the Navy, normally the first job you have when assigned to a ship or sub, as a rite of passage, is mess cooking. It consists of participating in all phases of feeding the troops; swabbing the mess area, cleaning utensils and cookware, serving chow, and occasionally participating in creatively food preparation. Mess cooking was also used as a form of punishment when you FU on your normal job assignment, as I sometimes did. Looking back it was all good and necessary training. Unfortunately it instilled within me a lifelong no-joy attitude for expending any effort preparing raw materials that qualify as exquisite human cuisine. Kudos to those chefs who do and enjoy, but I don't cook. Never will.
  7. Double bubble wrap it with lots of tape and ship via Greyhound Package Express. Cost depends on weight and distance from point A to point B. I shipped a LWB roll bar to Cali from Alabama for $56.
  8. Look at the VIN number. For 87-90 models the factory MJ Eliminator will have a 5 for the eighth digit of the VIN.
  9. NOS XJ/MJ bucket seat bottom pans are still available. They make the buckets feel like new. http://comancheclub.com/topic/33832-nos-bucket-seat-bottom/page__hl__seat+bottom
  10. Recommend to all members to ignore and not respond to this poster's drivel. He's been here before, was shut down for awhile, said he'd never come back, but unfortunately that didn't happen. :shake:
  11. Yep, that was a keeper for sure. And yes, the roll bar and brush guard were not factory original.
  12. That says it all Jim. Well done.
  13. Thanks, found some online. A large ID wire bundle loom product will work fine. Should have known that. I like ACE too, but some things you can only find at Lowes or the Depot. I feel like I'm lost in space sometimes at those places.........
  14. Sprucing up the engine compartment and could use the plastic surround like on the upper radiator hose. This stuff is not in the parts manual. Anyone know where to find it?
  15. It's hanging down from the general vicinity of where the AW4 NSS cable connector is located. But it's hard to tell with those pics.
  16. Young punk. Yes, it did have horrible understeer characteristics especially when the roads were slick. But it was easily controlled with about 1000 lbs. of sandbags in the bed.
  17. The blue one with the plow reminds me of when I was a high school kid working at a Sunoco station on I-95 in CT. The station owner had a blue FC just like this except with yellow accents (Sunoco colors). My favorite jobs were plowing the station grounds and going out on trouble calls pulling people out of snowbanks. They were super tough little tucks.
  18. Agree , a great looking and well equipped truck desertmike. I don't see any power (windows, mirrors, locks, antenna, etc.) options though. I've seen a few MJs with factory power windows, but that's about it. What power options were offered, and were they just for the elite trim levels, or available for any MJ?
  19. KTM 560
