2.8 have the same bolt pattern as a 2.5. AW4 other than an AMC v-8 I think they will only go with the 4.0 (not for sure) I'm not sure if I am reading this right, but are you wanting to swap in a 2.8?

When swapping in a C 8.25, I understand that you need to re locate the spring perches. Keep in mind I am going to probably be keeping it SUA. Does anyone have the measurements on where the new perches need to be relocated?

89 Mj 2Wd To 4X4 Conversion Questions
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Manche_Base89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Cleaning the throttle body semis to help with better throttle response and a little more power. As for the sending unit, you would have to pull the tank. Not every hard though. Really liking the truck not a lot of people like 2.5 or have 2.5 they usually swap them out. -

To post pics, it need to be sourced by a website. How I do it is I will have the pics uploaded to Facebook, send left click and copy the image URL, and click on the picture looking thing right below the smiley face on the reply box, and paste the images URL. I can't post a link, but there is a thread that shows you how to post pictures. -

In my opinion, I would go with the Goodyear tires. Never heard of the other brand or anything about them. Maybe another member has used them before. I trust Goodyear. -

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-selector/category/off-road-tires/all-terrain-t-a-ko/tire-details?Wt.mc_id=Paid%2520Search;Google;bf%20goodrich%20all-terrain&WT.srch=1&gclid=COrR68_fwrwCFckWMgodIEQA9A Long link, but those are it, you can get them (I think) at most tire stores. As long as the 2 tires in the rear are the same size, and the front are the same size, you can run the 235/75 in the back and the 215/75 in the front. That is basically what I am doing. It will be fine. So yes it would work. When you go up to 31x10.5, the tires is bigger, there for not turning as fast as a smaller tire. This makes your speedometer off. Its simple to just change the gear when changing tire sizes. (you can get the specific gear tooth gear that you need by searching it up) As for changing the speedo gear for the 235/75, i didn't have to do it. It didn't change at all. -
Mj Rear Porportioning Valve
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Blaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They will still lock up, but most vehicles have more force going to the front of the vehicle rather than the rear, unless under a load. For instance unloaded, vehicle pending, will have 60% braking force in the front and 40% in the rear. Since when you brake the front is going to be taking a lot of the force from the truck braking in the front. When loaded, the valve opens letting more fluid through helping the vehicle stop easier, rather than just having the front brakes take most of the weighted down load when braking. -
Mj Rear Porportioning Valve
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Blaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What it does, Is when there is a load in the back of the truck, it adjusts with the more weight in the back, letting more fluid go through to the rear brakes, helping you stop better under a load. -
Replacement For Peugeot Ba-10/5
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Iron Jacket's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A good choice that most people will prefer is the AX-15, it is a 5 speed that is stronger, it will bolt right up. -
89 Mj 2Wd To 4X4 Conversion Questions
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Manche_Base89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well currently I have 2 sized tires on mine. Haha The ones I replaced on the back (and soon to be on the front too) are 235/75R15 they work perfectly. The ones that are on the front are 235/70-15 Later on down the line when I get more money to change the tires and the Speedo gear, I will put 31x10.5R15 on it. What kind of tires are you running? If you put some weight in the bed right above the rear axle it will help with rear traction. If you have some All terrain tires, or possibly mud country tires, it will make a huge difference rather than street tires. If you want a link on the tires I am getting ready to put all the way around I can. -

TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Manche_Base89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
If the 87 is a 2.5, the transmission and transfer case will bolt right up (sounds like they are both AX-4 transmissions which is found behind 2.5. As long as the front and rear gear ratios are the same. You are good. Also you will have to shorten your rear drive shaft. What (I think) he means about transmissions that are less desirable is the Peugeot BA10/5, 5 speed transmissions that were found behind the 4.0. Most people swap it out for the AX-15. The AX-4 is a good transmission. It is currently what I have, even thought it is 2wd -
89 Mj 2Wd To 4X4 Conversion Questions
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Manche_Base89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
First off, what is the engine in the 87, and what is in the 89? Are they both long beds, or short beds? -
Thanks guys . I am glad that I didn't get that MX-3, it was a cool looking car but did need a lot of work. I am glad that I ended up with the Comanche, it has become very useful and fun. Ravines in my opinion are the best looking rims jeep has made, next in line would be Moabs, thought about putting them on my truck, but I love these ravines. They do look great. They look sporty and I bet they would look good on your truck.

Direction Unknown Build, '87 2.5L 2Wd
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Comanchemodder's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice, another 2.5 I love sell these 2.5 popping up. One thing you can fix easy, your grill is upside down. Haha I like the truck, can't wait to see what all is going to happen to it! -
:dunno: Going for me is "pending" might not have a ride.

The Hell Is This?!?!?
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to benjy_26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That would be the PCV, the ones that replace it do not look like that anymore. I can't post a pic or a part number but hopefully a member can. Your local auto parts store should have them. If you need a pic of it what they look like, go to my build thread and there should be a pic of my original valve cover before I replaced it with an aluminum one. -
89 Comanche Pioneer Dd
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to tmaxx411's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Purple power, that stuff does wonders, also carb and throttle body cleaner, may sound weird, but it does work. -
I let an extra 5 psi out of my rear tires adding up to about 10 psi. I have never put weight in the back and I was running street tires and 2wd, made it through everything just fine. Be sure to put the correct amount back in when it warms up and the ice\snow is gone. And as stated earlier, find an empty parking lot to learn how, plus you can have fun doing it.

I'm getting ready to tear down my 304 for my javelin down to a bare block. While ill be waiting on getting the parts I need for it, what are some good ways to store it to keep it from rusting in the cylinder walls? Crank and pistons are not going to be in it. (And this block has not been machined at all) just a simple take apart, get what I need and put it back together. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Wheel/tire Size Questions
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to Reedtech's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those I believe are 5 on 4.75 or 5.5 I think (might be wrong) Comanche bolt patterns are 5 on 4.5 If you really wanted them, you could get adapters. -
The aluminum valve should be a direct swap. The only thing you have to change is the front hose for the PCV. Since there is a brass fitting.

Sure will! Hopefully some other members are going to go.

Radiator Suggestions??
TheDirtyJeep401 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is where I ordered the one that is in my Mj right now. From Shepard auto parts. I hope I can get it warrantied, but I am not for sure. -
I was getting ready to post that on here. I will be there, doubt that ill be wheeling the MJ, might not even be bringing it. I will be with my uncle in his YJ. Hopefully.

Well, I had to pull over today because there was steam flying out everywhere from under my hood. Looked at my radiator, and there was a huge slash in it. I am going to try and get it warranted, or fixed, but if I can't, does anyone have any good recommendations? Especially looking for aluminum, I am getting tired of all this plastic crap and want something durable. Its an 86 2.5. Thanks!
