  1. It's already been bench tested from the last issue I was having with a no crank. Turned out to be a fuse and turned over everytime. I will absolutely try this next chance I get, thanks. The video in the link is incorrect, though.
  2. One was a NAPA 90amp PN: 213-8613. I'd have to check the one that's currently on it later. OEM replacement for a 93 XJ, all the mounting brackets came from the 93, so a RENIX wouldn't fit, nor would it plug up. Connectors are very different. I'm beginning to think the no start is not an alternator or regulator issue, it might just be a coincidence. If the computer is bad, I'd imagine that would cause frequent no crank scenarios.
  3. It won't turn over with the external voltage regulator connected. Should have been more clear. I'll tool around with it bit more, but if it's alright to run an external regulator, than that's probably what I'll do. PCMs are expensive, haha.
  4. No incite? I'd like to get some kind of opinion before I start jumping the gun and buying parts I don't need.
  5. I’m in the process of a OBD1 HO swap into my 88 MJ. The parts XJ I bought, a 93, had an external voltage regulator. I assumed someone had put it in not knowing that the PCM handles the voltage from the alternator. With the swap just about done, the alternator in the MJ is not charging the battery. 3 Alternators, and no go. I installed the aftermarket regulator from the XJ to see what would happen and just like that, it was charging at about 14.8 volts. Is this indicative of a failing PCM? Maybe something else could cause this issue? Could it be potentially bad to run this external regulator? Another issue is, the truck will not crank with it connected. Very strange issues. Help is appreciated.
  6. Damn, wish I had read your post before going over those diagrams, woulda saved me some time.
  7. You sir, saved the day. After getting a severe headache looking at wiring diagrams, I found that the starter solenoid runs THROUGH the rear heated window fuse at the PDC. It makes no mention of it on the PDC cover. I removed the fuse because I didn't have a heated rear window, obviously. Plugged it back in and BAM, starter works with the ignition switch like it should. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help, everyone.
  8. I've replaced the relays and fuses to make absolute sure, but to no avail. I tested the starter, it works so well it tried to start the engine on me, even without a fuel pump, haha. I even took a jumper wire from the solenoid switch wire to the + side of the battery and she cranked with no issues. When I turn the key to the crank position, the coolant gauge maxes out, so I'm pretty sure that's a good sign of the ignition switch being good. As said above, the trigger wire is only getting 0.85 volts, meaning an issue at or past the relay. Testing the relay, it's only receiving about 5 volts. Something is causing a huge restriction. Non issue, I'm not trying to start the engine, just get it to crank via the ignition switch.
  9. Or maybe not, but can’t seem to find specific infomation regarding my exact problem. I’ve recently done an entire 93 XJ HO harness swap into my 88 MJ. I plugged the battery up for the first time today, to test all of my systems. Everything seemed to work except the radio ( easy fix) and the starter. I unplugged the fuel pump until I can change out my sender, but that shouldnt affect the starter. It was an auto XJ, so I bridged the NSS park wire together to eliminate that issue. I can hear the starter relay click when I turn the key to crank, and used a screw driver to bridge the solenoid and make sure the starter was good. 12.74 volts at battery. I tested the trigger wire for the starter, and at the crank position it reads 0.85 volts. I know this is the issue, I’ve read it needs to receive 12 volts to operate. Why such a restriction? Someone has also told me the voltage read out at the wire could just be interference from other components. Could it just be a cut wire, or is there another component that could cause this issue? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  10. What of the iconic CC truck? Is it to be forgotten? haha
  11. I'm trying to figure out exactly where this connector is, it's not on the column as far as I can see. I did swap a 93 tilt column in, along with the same HO harness.
  12. Your TPS is likely bad and/or has a poor ground. Do Tip 5 at www.cruiser54.com and report back. Are you saying the IAC is not related at all? If the TPS is giving more fuel to the engine than it should be, I understand the idle might be a little higher, but there is hardly any air getting into the engine, I'm surprised the idle skyrockets like it does.
  13. I've had this issue for years, I narrowed it down to the IAC getting stuck open, thats the only way enough air can be sucked in to get a 2500 rpm, if the butterfly isnt open. Its not a leak, because it's intermittent. I went through 6 iac sensors, some new, some jy finds. All fixed the problem for a short while. My only guess is a bad ground or voltage for that sensor.
  14. I run the 33x10.5x15 BFG AT, they are decent in rocks, terrible in mud and sand, but an AT will never be particularly good in any terrain. When I bought the tires, they sold them as dually sets, usually a dually runs a narrow tire like this in the rear. It is a tough size to find for this reason, I'm sure.
  15. Look up my buddy onlyinajeep726, he is right in your area and has alot of knowledge about these trucks, plus can point you in a good direction for some trails.
  16. Both AX-15 with NP231s? Both have Dana 30 HP Fronts? Than yes, the front driveshaft will work just fine. The rear will not, no matter the set up.
  17. I'll go with what dirtycomanche is saying, you can get a mechanical LSD for that axle and never have to worry about clutch packs again. I loved my trutrac when my MJ was still on the road, worth every penny.
  18. ok this is whats throwing me off after spending more time looking at it. It looks almost exactly like a jeep xj/mj dana 30, but has the front diff shape of a 44. BUT its low pinion, I don't think they made jeep front 44's that were low pinion, besides the wagoners/fs Cherokees. and its obviously newer than that.... Every TJ 44 was a low pinion as well.
  19. I live right in the area you guys are talking about, kitty hawks an hour drive, or 8 minute flight, for me. Oughta have a meet out here sometime.
  20. My brother has that same setup and runs 4.88 ratio. Good pick up with about stock fuel economy.
  21. Very nice! Thanks for the heads up.
  22. Imagine flash memory back in the early 00s. A 32 mb SD card would cost $40. 1gb flash stick would be $120.
  23. I have roughly that height with v8 ZJ steering, same TRE, but beefier tie rod. No issues, however I've been looking into a drop pitman arm. I hear mixed reviews of them, from tightening the steering to near stock, to so much bump steer it's dangerous. Anyone have any input?
  24. That's impressive, I struggle for 17 highway, but I know some of that loss is from 33s and 4.56 gears. Wind resistance is a... pain.
