  1. I tried to replace the input seal once before the internet was very useful. I got the preload all screwed up and the box wouldn't return to center on its own. That was an interesting test drive on the freeway. 🙄
  2. The clock mount version for the XJ was my one and only item on my Christmas list. 😁
  3. I'm pretty sure that he still has the clock units. He was having a difficult time getting boards for the original style, but he said he recently found a batch, but it will probably be the last one. Not sure what the ETA is on those units though. I know he plans on taking some time off because of his new child on the way, so you might want to contact him ASAP. He posts updates on his Facebook page.
  4. It's not hauling an impressive load, but it is fairly loaded down and in the middle of a 3000 mile road trip to Death Valley.

    Thank you!

    Great, thanks for your support!
  6. Thanks! It looks like you should have the perfect MJ for any trip! I'm not yet sure where our next big trip will be.

    Thank you!

Thanks! The XJ might make another appearance before it goes into paint jail for the winter. Bodywork is one of my least favorite things to do and the winter is a crummy time to do it, but there just isn't time in the summer.

    Thank you!

Thanks to everyone on the forum that has subscribed to or watched any of our "mostly MJ" YouTube content. Heather just posted her 50th video and reached the 1000 subscriber mark, (1000 is the minimum number needed to request monetization from YouTube). Payout will be minimal, but at least all advertising revenue isn't going to YouTube now!
  9. I definitely can't vouch for the quality of the LUK internal slave ASSY, (mine failed with 10K on it), but I've had OK luck with their clutches. I've heard of aftermarket transfer case chains breaking and an OEM Borgwarner Morse NP231 Transfer Case Chain HV027 is about the same cost. I bought an Amazon blind hole puller for one of the needle bearings in the transfer case.
  10. Not sure, I think that it was in Needles?
  11. A few shots from Route 66 on our 3,000 mile journey a few years ago. We went to Death Valley, The Mojave Trail, Valley of Fire, ETC on this epic adventure.
  12. It's actually really cheap as far as hard shell RTT's go, some are $4-5K! The beauty of this one is the low profile and light weight. We have the MJ, an XJ and a truck with a shell, so the tent could easily be swapped between vehicles.
  13. I guess that one disadvantage is the light weight. Apparently one of their demo models walked off at SEMA! I'll have to figure out some sort of locking mechanism.
  14. Dimensions: 86” L x 52“ W x 4.75” H Sleeping Area: 84” L x 50” W Weight: 80lbs
  15. I received an email from my wife with the picture above with the wedge tent on the MJ, so I took that as permission to order. I will say that the old Smittybilt has performed well and makes a comfortable place to sleep. The biggest downside is that the rain fly makes a flapping sound in wind, making sleep difficult, even with ear plugs. The wedge is less roomy, but I hear if you are able to orientate the wedge towards the wind, it helps a lot. We shall see.
  16. Inspired Overland just revealed a new lightweight carbon fiber wedge style roof top tent at SEMA. They are having a SEMA preorder sale, so I ordered one. My long term goal is some sort of enclosed shell with an easier to deploy tent, so this fits the bill. It's only 80 LBS and only 4" tall when folded, so it should be easier to move between vehicles as well as reducing weight and improving areodynamics. 😂 It uses an air mattress, so I hope that will not be an issue. I'll post a full review at some point in the future. https://inspiredoverland.com/
  17. I've still got some stickers and ordered 200 more if anyone else wants one!
  18. I recognized it as that one in the Stephan King movie the boys were on. lol Yep, Stand By Me!
  19. Yep, I'm surprised how many people immediately recognize it!
  20. There's been much talk about tail lamps lately. I'm not crazy about the thought of getting rear ended in this thing, so I've been hunting for more visible tail lamps. I tried a few LEDs and they were all dimmer than factory. I read about these "plasma LEDs" on one of the classic car forums from West Coast Classic Cougar. People have found them to be the best, even if you don't have a Cougar. They are impressive! The first photo is new driver's side bulbs, the second is LED upper and incandescent lower. These are not new lenses. Oh ya, my old bulbs were some Honda ones that were already supposed to be brighter than stock. It's been a few years now and no problems in either vehicle that I installed them in.
  21. Ha, that's usually what our porch looks like, except our are Jeep parts. I try to hide them before my wife gets home. ;-)
  22. The Comanche with a famous RR trestle on our last trip. Can you name the movie?
  23. That's awesome!
  24. Looks cool, but would be a 6,000 mile round trip. I have done 3,000, not sure talk the wife into longer.
