    Happy Birthday Darren

Yes it is a big congrats. They have been trying for a while now. At the age of twenty three Darren was getting too old to be mormon with out kids...... As I told him.. I am very happy for him, but even more happy that it wasn't me.
  4. Well tonight was Darren's birthday, and boy did he get one hell of a present. A group of us guys were playing poker in Darren's garage when Darren's wife came out and put a pregnancy test in front of Darren..... They are having a baby!!!!! Congrats, I guess your sperm does work!!!!!!
  5. What mall was this at??? :dunno:
  6. when's this one getting a custom windshield?
  7. I think that I will just drill a couple drain holes in the bottom of the mount.
  8. Darren needs to post his jeep tomahawk.
  9. ok well I made some more progress, I decided to take a break from the frame plating for a night and work on the axle end of the trackbar. I spent about an hour and five cut off wheels to remove and grind down the trackbar mount and steering stabilizer mounts. I accidentally ordered the wrong size axle tube diameter of trackbar mount. So rather then paying the $24 for shipping it back and forth I got about a foot of 3.5" od .375 wall tubing and am sleeving the section of my axle that the trackbar mounts to. So to keep in the spirit of my frame plating I have 18 rosette welds on the top half of the tube. Then I welded the entire perimeter. Then I welded all the seems on the trackbar mount, jacked the truck up to proper ride height, got it at a perfect 90 degrees and tacked it in place. I am noticing that the trackbar mount is going to collect water, dirt and what ever lands in the center of the mount, Should I be drilling a couple holes in the mount?
  10. Here are my steering angles the high end of the draglink will actually be lower due to a misalignment spacer, I think that will make them almost identical. Oh and welcome to comancheclub mjslaya, Where is your build thread?
  11. I have everything ground down, THe birds mouth won't work, I would have to cut out the unibody to do that. The point of having the right angle is so that I had a place to weld my trackbar mount to. See here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10347&start=75
  12. his wife won't let him borrow her camera for me because I am fat, lazy and ugly...... I like the cell camera, it is like beer goggles for my welds. :D
  13. Yes it is all that I have. To be honest I had to google fish plate to see what you were talking about. And slayta, I think that I am ok on rosette welds I have over 100 per side, how are your welding projects coming???
  14. So are you suggesting something along the lines of angle iron along the seem? I will leave my self some room on the other side. BTW all my welds were looking great and laying down goood untill I ran out of wire and decided to change my tip for the first time in probably 6 reels of wire.
  15. I am assuming that you have manual hubs? If so, why not just build a square tube driveline?
  16. Now as I am sure is pretty obvious, I am pretty new to the welding and fabricating business. How much of a necessity is it to weld along the top perimeter the plating? I am really having issues. I have cleaned it multiple times with a wire wheel I just can't get a good bead to lay down. I can't get a puddle started without burning through the thin sheet metal. The area that is there is so small and tight to the top that I when I try to focus the puddle on the plate I can't get the puddle to move fast enough to penetrate the sheet metal. I am drawing a blank. Here is a pic of what's going on.
  17. Well I have the frame side trackbar in. and here are some pics. First of all Willy, here is your fish plate. Here are some of the under side and the trackbar mount. I had to put a little bit of an angle on the trackbar mount so that I can have it centered over the axle and still have it clear the coil.
  18. Yes that is in the game plan. I am going to wait on that until I have the bottom welded in place. Then I will weld the trackbar mount on the fish plate.
  19. I was able to start on my frame plating today. Here's what I was able to get done today between helping eric trim and weld up his bumper. I started out by making a template out of cardboard. Then i cut out the first part with a cut off wheel. I used the drill press to drill the holes for the steering box. Next I drilled about 30 holes for plug welds and then bolted the plate in place with the steering box bolts. After that I filled all the plug welds and welded the two ends. Now on the the rear.... BTW I am using 1/8" plate and I was able to get the steel to bend around the curves in the frame with a c-clamp. There is much more to come tomorrow. I am going to weld the entire perimeter of the plating. I will go farther back later. There are 75 plug welds to be exact.
  20. So does Fiat now own Mercedes as well?
  21. Yes, frame mount, axle mount and the heims for the trackbar from Ballistic. Now I have to plate the front of my frame so I can weld on the trackbar mount.
  22. look what I got in the mail today!!!!!!!!
  23. He is not running hot, it is for looks. I think that he needs to get one of those see-through hoods, and then a matching set of diffcovers
