Well, at least it didn't make Cat 1 before it came to visit. Keep the beer iced and it'll be over soon.

Brent - I realize that you've probably been thru this before...so I'm not gonna lecture you....but you really need to watch yer @$$ with this one...weather undgerground is modeling this one to cross you and then make a 180 degree turn and come back (as of the 1400 observation). If it gets bad you can always come over here....but I'm not sure how Peanut would like our 4 cats.....

Take my word for it, you don't wanna mess with hurricanes. I worked thru Katrina with the Sheriff Dept and it really sucked. This is a small one compared to that B!^ch, but if you can get away I'd do it...just so you can have a place to crap that flushes and a place to shower that has water.

Why?!? Why did you have to ruin my day? Now I have this terrible 8x10 in my head of 400lb ladies in bathing suits..... I need to call them and tell them to FU myself!

? on Mechanical temp gauge
Akula69 replied to Throttle_Jockey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Throttle, the housing is made of pewter/iron, and is quite fragile - I just cracked one when I was replacing the 'stat in my daughter's XJ and got a replacement from the Hwy 59 auto salvage yard. Unfortunately I got the only one they had with the sensor in it... Checck with the yard up on Hwy 25 right before Lake Ramsey road - they have three XJ's there. -
Wow that thing is cool. and I was just there in July.....

? on Mechanical temp gauge
Akula69 replied to Throttle_Jockey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
but DON'T replace the sensor that's on the t-stat housing. if there's one there (I believe even renix have them, and KNOW that H.O. has it), you need to keep it. it's the temp sensor for the engine computer and if it goes missing will cause running issues. Renix don't. They have a sensor in the block under the intake manifold IIRC. Well, I got a Renix, so it would be OK....but I had no knowledge of what Jeepco posted...I guess you learn something every day! -
Looks like it ended without a bid, so he might re-list it. I've never seen one of those however.

You gat a PM, and I re-read the text....you can use the sensor on the thermostat housing like wooky48 said. -

RTV on water pump gasket?
Akula69 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You're kidding...right? Another person, another opinion: I always use RTV on gaskets. Yes, it destroys them if you have to remove the part, but if the mating surfaces have a small irregularity the RTV can make the difference. If you crank down on the mounting bolts to force the gasket itself to close up a small irregularity can crack the housing. -
Count me in on the beer. :beerhead: BYW Akula, where in 'Bama is it? Vincent. It has a history here. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10552

Nice. Very nice. -
Akula69 your not selling the project are you? Naw. I purchased a wrecked one in Alabama that I never went and picked up. I called the guy yesterday and he said he would hold it indefinately for me...just come whenever. I just haven't had the time nor the inclination. One day I will. Thought maybe Pete might want a 'southern' vacation...

Or lower. PM me for a real steal on a rust free (wrecked) MJ. I have it as a bargin price!

OK we got it running again. :jump: Turns out the nut had come off of the grounding stud on the left side of the engine and the wires were hanging free. I have no idea why I was still able to get spark without that ground... :dunno: We also replaced the CPS and installed the correct service mod harness to the ECM. Got door aligned so that it closes easily but it is still inset below the cab on the bottom rear (handle side) and there is a gap at the bottom front between door and gasket (sigh). I suppose that'll have to wait for the body shop to re-align the A pillar.

X2 We have a refinery about 35-40 miles from where I live, and on a clear night you can see the flare stack burning off the excess LPG. All I can think of is how wasteful it is.

The link is good, the guy seems to know what he is talking about except there is a major drawback with E85 from the standpoint that it is not water-tolerant to the extent regular fuel is. In fact, it absorbs water from ambiant air and requires more frequent fuel filter changes. Most companies that talk about utilizing E85 begin by stating if the vehicle is more then 5 years old you need to change the fuel tank as well, as E85 will remove deposits and impurioties in the tank to the filter, and then to the injection system.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!. it's not every day that you learn a part of you will go on after you check out. The only thing is, now you have to look for the service manual that goes with the new addition :brows: Second, I agree with Mvusse : I know you said you don't care for XJ, and it appears she has been quite reasonable with your passion...er, hobby :D and unless you really like Fords that's where I'd start.

Man - I could really use the flares off that truck....
-
Well yeah, I must have been sleeping when I typed that. Its the AW4.

Yes, I thought about that and tried the disconnect/reconnect without effect. I will replace the CPS tomorrow (hopefully) 1989 (renix) 4.0L straight 6; 2wd LB, Dana 35 with an ax15 auto trans. Yeah I tried the 2x4 in the area between the two hinges against the A pillar and behind the door. It forced the upper hinge out some but not the bottom. I ran out of daylight before I could get back to it, I'll try again tomorrow. Did not affect the fact that the door is evenly hanging low (whole door is low). Checked that first...have good spark and all the plug wires are tight. Thanks for your answer...If you think of anything else please let me know.
