So if i go with the 3.55 i won't have to change the carrier? and having said that as long as I find an equal size Dana I should be good to go. But what about getting them from the Junk-yard? what should i look for when i bull them out?

I am getting to the point that I want to change the gear ratio in the front and rear axle. I am getting ready to up-size to 31s and i have the feeling that is going to be to much for the 3.07s that are in it. A couple for questions while I am getting ready: 1) Can i get the sets from the junk yard or is it not worth it 2) does each Dana run the same size carrier 3) If i have a Dana 44 rear with the limited slip does that change anything (maybe the carrier size?) 4) is it worth it to have it done or can it be learned on my own, if not what would you guys pay to have it done 4) what would be the best ratio for a DD that needs to tow and handle off road almost every week thanks

Also I have heard that if you are in the market for a 4bt start looking under the hood of Frito Lays delivery trucks.
-
Good plan, but those arent exactly easy to find and if you do they aint cheap. haha i hear you can just get a 6bt and cut two off with a port-a-ban, lol :rotf: Or just make the 6bt fit :brows:

The other problem is that those engines (any small diesel) are designed to be bolted to a drive train that has 12 gears forward (High Medium Low, 1-4) and 3 revers. IDK about this. If it were me I would have beefed up everything around it and gone with a cummins 4bt :brows:

Hey Eagle, it is a little off topic but is there a how-to write up on measuring for new shocks?
-
I understand and thanks for pointing it out for Zack, but it is just to get me down the road for now till i have a full time job (in college now) haha. Plus my leaf pack as a whole was pretty soft and on its last legs. Thanks for keeping an eye out.

EDIT: at the moment i am running 235/75R15. Just to keep in mind when you look at the ride height.

I used the light cause my bumpers is not totally straight (PO to thank) I am running stock shocks but will get ones that fit better once i have the funds.

Ya as of just a few hundred miles ago they were both fine. This noise has been there since i bought the truck. It seems to only do it when the trany is nice and warm, this morning i drove it about 30 miles city/highway and it did not do anything. IDK what to think, lol

So I have an ASUS tablet and I would like to use it while diving for turn by turn directions. I have a USB style GPS receiver and have used with software on my laptop before for maritime navigation. I just don't know where to find a good program for my tablet that supports offline maps and will overlay a GPS input. I would like to not have to pay for the program (app) but if i have to i will. Thanks. PS I know this is not a computer forum but i would bet someone has done this before on here. lol

I have an 88 4.0L with the ba10/5 5 speed. When i am on the freeway and get up to 65mph in fifth gear there is a strange sound that comes from what sounds like the where the shift lever enters the top of the tanny. Sounds like someone put a bunch of BBs in a can and the shook it on a paint shaker, high pitched. If i put my hand one the shifter and apply pressure in any direction it goes away (very little pressure). Also if i let off the gas it goes away (while still in gear) What do you guys think. The car still drives fine it is just super annoying :fs1:.

Ya i am on a budget (in collage) so it worked out great. If you do it and it is to much or not enough you can always change out the shackles. They say over time they sag and you have to replace them but by that time i will have a job and the truck will no longer be my DD (just the tailor queen) . I am planning on having the front done this week and will let you know how it goes Then the 31s that have been sitting in my garage for over a month :fs1: So ya in a week or two you can know exactly what it will look like, haha

Those are all really great :rotf: My best electric fence story came from my Grandfather. He was out working on the fence with it energized but the ground was disconnected and was wearing thick rubber boats (isolating him and not allowing the circuit to complete itself). This was all great till the family dog walked up and layed his big fat wet noise on my GF hand when he went to get something out of his pocket. Never the less the dog was never the same and their relationship was estranged from there on out, haha. :laughin:

ya it did, was super easy. lifted the truck nicely (don't have exact measurements but about 2 1/2 inchs) out of a 3 inch kit. It rides nice too and handles loads much better now. I am going to have to but on a longer break line before i go flexing it hard. Looking to use the 96 dakota line. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3yksVkcO1Xo i watched this and it was exactly the same (skip to 3:00) any other questions let me know.
