  1. :rotf: :rotf: The stock rear bumper is worth half the price if you want one. :shake: :shake:
  2. THANKS for all the help, doing the wife's van this weekend but next weekend is the MJ's turn, provided the weather cooperates.
  3. Both sizes show 10" but one is 1.75 and the other is 2.25 just need to know the width. thanks for the help.
  4. Does anyone know how to tell what size shoes are on an 88 2wd comanche? I don't want to take apart before I have new ones. If no one knows can the drum be measured to tell, and if so does anyone know what size drum fits which shoe?
  5. I saw a thread a while back, think it was here, about replacing the straps on the rear u-joint straps with a u-bolt I would like to find it again so I can get the part numbers. :wall: Silly me forgot to mark it. :fs1:
  6. Try this link for the light. http://www.roverparts.com/Nxt/search.as ... s%2FLenses It's easy once you know what to look for, comes from several different years , and 38.00 a piece not to bad
  7. Thanks for the info been awhile since I checked but thanks for the input. :waving:
  8. Be CAREFUL Cherokee sending units do not work in our Comanches. :fs1: I had the same problem with parts stores around here and they don't listen when you try to tell them that not all cherokee parts are interchangable. :fs1:  You really don't want to know how I know this. The best way I have found is to pick one up on EBAY and make any needed repairs to it before you install it then you have a spare that you can repair then keep in case you need or sell and get at least some if not all your money back. There are places you can get you sending unit rebuilt for as little as $100 or so, at least that is what I have seen. I am in the process of trying to go this route myself, but you know the way money can get sometimes, have new to me sending unit just waiting to get the money to have it rebuilt before I install. If I can find the web site again I will post it on here, or maybe someone else can steer you in the right direction. I also remember seeing at one time, :dunno: maybe not in this club :dunno: , that their was someone who was a member that could rebuild our units, :wall: only saw it once and haven't been to find again :wall: , should have marked when had the chance. :rotf: Also have an EBAY gas tank myself and have had no problems with it, except the more I drive my Jeep the faster it goes empty. :rotf:
  9. Thanks, but I am looking for the bolt size of the lower(axle side) that actually fastens the track bar to the axle, the one with nut that has nasty tab
  10. I am fairly sure it wasn't me either. :???: :dunno: Last time I was in Illinois was in 1988.
  11. Does anyone know the size(diameter and length) of the lower trackbar bolt? Looking to change mine (trackbar) and want to get a replacement bolt. Would really like to get before disassembly so I have it on hand. Lots of threads on the trackbar but none list the bolt size, :dunno: atleast none I have found. I have an 88 2wd with a 4.0.
  12. Found this on Jeep Forum, Looks like a Comanche fuel pump to me. Angles of in tank pick ups and fuel line tie ins certainly look MJ. Listing here to let others know and look I already have a spare or I would get myself. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f130/renix-complete-fuel-pump-977779/
  13. Can you post the address for me so I can find out how far it is from me may be worth a day trip.
  14. If you look at the roof line behind the door and follow the gutter you can clearly see that it steps down not common on any MJ I've seen. :dunno:
  15. Mine only works when ignition is on. I put in an accessory outlet direct wired to solve problem
  16. It is actually two separate pieces one plastic that goes directly under the window, and a cardboard one with carpet that goes to the floor from there. They both attach with clips, the plastic piece attaches with clips similar to the door panels, and the cardboard one has a type of spring clip. You could probably fab the cardboard/carpet one but the other you are probably gonna have to find at a salvage yard :wall:, which sounds a lot easier than it is, or purchase. Not sure if it was standard on all models or not. :dunno: Hope this helps a little.
  17. If you don't want to make them JCR Offroad has some mounts can see them here:http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MJRMTS&Category_Code=MJB But I think if you can build the bumper you can fab then needed mounts.
  18. It's been a while since I did mine but if I recall they have different size fittings so they will only go on the correct way.
  19. I seen their ad also was really looking for someone who has used them to find out the cost and results. Would like to see a pic of the reworked sending unit if possible.
  20. :USAflag: ALL SOLDIERS SHOULD GET THAT TREATMENT WHEN THEY COME HOME :USAflag: :USAflag: ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO CAN STILL ENJOY IT :USAflag:
  21. To my knowledge the Drawtite hitch available through U Haul will fit both long and short bed Comanches as the bumper attachment is the same on both trucks and it uses the bumper bolts to connect to the truck.
  22. I prefer my manual tranny although it is a :wall: ba 10. :dunno: I think the reasons alot of people don't like manual trannies is 2 fold, one is both of your hands are needed to drive, and the one if think is more common a problem is you actually have to pay attention to your driving instead of just putting the thing into gear, mashing the pedal and zipping off. :dunno:
  23. The only thing with this hitch is it is designed for the stock bumper only, as per description. Other wise I think it is the only hitch still available for our manchees.
  24. Did mine today, made a world of difference. Part of the problem with mine was that the motor screws had come loose and one was missing, and the really weird part is it wasn't in the cowl opening. :dunno:   Your write up made it super easy to do and what to watch out for. Thanks and keep on writing
  25. :USAflag: I will be a DOD civilian employee working for the public works dept. maintaining the post facilities. :USAflag: As for what they prove at the proving grounds, it is the oldest test center for army equipment in the US, they test most new and improved tech for the army. THANK YOU for the support.
