  1. Yes, the stock cross member is completely removed. It comes with a full skid plate that the arms attach to. Willy
  2. It's not worth the effort if they are the stock CJ axles. The front would be a low pinion D30 with passenger side differential. It rides on the weaker side of the ring gear. An MJ D30 is high pinion and rides on the stronger side of the ring gear. You would be losing strength in this respect and you would have to add brackets, etc. Way too much work for a loss in strength. The rear would be an AMC 20 with notoriously weak two piece axle shafts and thin tubes that bend easily. I wouldn't even consider this an upgrade for a D35. I think your money would be better spent elsewhere. Willy
  3. Thanks! It's very nice. He did a great job with it. Willy
  4. Which one is Fred Perry's? Image Not Found Image Not Found They were both nice, but the quality and custom work on the second one was incredible. I really liked how he kept it as low as possible. Willy
  5. I swapped an AW4 into an '88 with the Peugeot 5 speed. I did nothing to the ECU. All I had to do was swap in the TCU with all of the related wiring, TPS, cables, etc. Willy
  6. The ECU is the same between auto and stick for the 4.0. The AW4 used with the 4.0 has a completely separate TCU that only needs input from the TPS and does not communicate with the ECU. You should be fine. Willy
  7. Is there a story that goes with this? I hope there was no passenger and that the driver survived. Willy
  8. Tank size is approximate. Fuel tanks are designed to leave an air pocket in the top when full for expansion. If one side of the truck was higher when filling up it will effect the size of the air pocket. The filler hose will also hold a little extra beyond what the tank will hold too. I'm not saying that their pumps aren't off, but it's not necessarily unusual to be able to put more fuel in your tank than what it is rated for. Willy
  9. :dunce: Sorry, my fault. Willy
  10. There are no wires for the transmission cooler. There are lines that connect to the radiator. Willy
  11. HUH? They should not "twist" 1/2" as he described. As your suspension cycles they will move up and down (vertical) but should move very minimal side to side (horizontal). The movement described is called "tierod roll" and should not be happening at all. Your steering will be sloppy, and it can even lead to death wobble. The tierod should not twist, you want it as tight (won't twist) as you can get it. The movement needed is in the TRE (tie rod end), but if your able to twist the tierod itself than their are greater issues at hand. Do you realize that tie rod ends are just a ball and socket type of joint? They are designed to pivot around the ball. What he is describing is completely normal. Willy
  12. Timmy!!!! :D Good job. I can't wait to see what else you do to it. Willy
  13. I got mine! Thanks, Willy
  14. Dave, That will work. That's what we did with Deb's MJ. Willy
  15. Is the transfer case in good shape? I'd rather have that than the fake 44. That's worth some money too if you can get it for cheap. Willy
  16. Good to see you here Timmy! :clapping: I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'm sure it will be incredible. I'll watch this and help out any way I can. Willy
  17. I built this MJ for my wife. It is an '88 with 4.0, AW4, TNT Y-link, 8.8 rear with spring over, ECTEDs front and rear, 231 doubler, 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs, etc. I converted it from 2WD to 4WD and swapped the Peugeot 5 speed for the AW4. More details here: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8989 I also have an XJ, my third. Willy
  18. Make sure you have the right lug nuts. You need lug centric, not hub centric, lug nuts. In this pic it looks like you may have some hub centric lug nuts. Willy
  19. Thanks, those show up. Nice bumper. Willy
  20. No problem. Let me know if there is anything else you want to see. I've got several more pics that may be helpful. Yes, but he makes shafts for the 21 spline transfer cases too. As well as some GM spline counts. Willy
  21. Do you have any more pics of the rear bumper? Looks like you may have posted some, but the pics don't seem to be working any more. The only one that I could see was the one of it loaded in the bed with the front bumper. Thanks, Willy
  22. That's about everything for now. I didn't get a chance to start on the rock sliders, but that is next on the list. Willy
  23. I needed a place to mount the CB antenna that was out of the way and somewhere to put the spare. I had some left over angle iron from some other projects that I built this out of. Willy
  24. I built a mount for the carrier bearing to bolt to. Willy
