I have to echo one of the replies to that thread. Great write up! Thanks for the link Pete ... it looks like an easy project too. The only bad thing is involving a dealership. I guess they did prewire for the lamps. One of the pics illustrates what I tried to describe. I found an '05 WK Limited locally on Craigslist that someone is parting out. He said all of those parts are still in it, so I'll be spending some time in his yard in the next couple weeks.

Mild and drivable is the plan. This is my DD and I have no off road plans. I've always stuffed as much rubber under my vehicles as I could fit. Nothing/little extending outside the wheel well. I have a "look" in mind and already bought 17" chrome Rubicon Moab style wheels. I presently have Orbitek wheels with 235/75/17 Firestones. They look like cookies. I want big fat Michelins!!! The WK below has 255/70/17s on stock Orbitek wheels and reportedly no modifications or rubbing. Stout, but not quite there.

Thanks Pete! I fear this thread will fizzle fast. I'm not looking to create an off-road rig, so you guys with mud on the roof will get bored quickly. I checked out mallcrawlin.com (sounded about my speed) but quickly determined it was a wolf in sheep's clothing. I would like to scale "curbs", not tree stumps. Their "read this first" note immediately identified me as an outcast, because I do have newbie questions like biggest tire size and budget lifts. The first thing I do when I buy a new vehicle is put different wheels and tires on it. I've discovered that clearances are an issue with the WK when fitting other Jeep wheels, or oversizing tires without a lift. And what's all this about a pinch weld modification? What exactly is a pinch weld, where is it and what does the modification entail? Also, I have a base model Laredo. It appears there is wiring for factory fog lamps that are secured to the frame. I'd like to add fog lamps, but is there more to it, than plug and play?

I found mine when I went from bench to buckets. Don't recall exactly where, as I pulled everything but the dash.

I still have my beloved MJ, but recently sold an XJ to transition to a WK. It was painful, but that's another story. I didn't want to dilute CC.com with off topic stuff about different models. On the flip side, I would like to "make my WK mine" and separate it from the heard as best I know how. I went to, ahem ... the other Jeep(forum) site and after registering, got the canned response acknowledging my registration. That was the last correspondence received. I tried to upgrade my membership to forego the sickening proliferation of ads the other site had and can't get a response from "the management". I guess my money is no good over there. That said, if anyone has a contact for the other site that actually responds, please hook me up. In the meantime, is there a CC member out there with knowledge of the WK that could field a few ?'s for me? If there are other resources out there, I'm all ears! Thanks in advance, Tim

Someone thought it was $4500 cool ... the author deleted the post.

Still haven't determined where he's stationed ... even my sister (his mother) doesn't know (and now she's nervous). The only address we have is the APO. Do food items travel well?
-
He described it as a large base, but didn't say the name. It's address is APO AE 09366. He's a JiuJitsu and MMA freak, so I don't think he dips and I know he doesn't smoke. I'll put a few cans of Copenhagen in there anyway.

... it's his first deployment. He's Army Engineers (an Electrician by trade). I want to send him care packages, but don't know what to send. Something beyond toiletries, or the standard stuff (although that will be in the box too). I've read a number of replies to topics on here and I know there are former, and active military people on CC.com. Would you be kind enough to share what would be a well received surprise that won't get him in trouble? I don't mind sending extra for his brothers/sisters either. Thanks in advance. Tim

I don't know about the rest of the truck, but I'd give'em a couple hundred for that rear bumper! This truck shows up here every few months. $20K is their "I don't want to sell it price, but if you're fool enough".

90 4x4 Survivor ... Lakewood, Washington
NHMJXJ replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
It's repainted, without question. Still ... pretty clean and you pay for what you get when it's no reserve. I've seen much worse. Mine for example. 8) -

The Good, Bad, and Rusty - 6/26 CL List

Nothing wrong with a spare if you can manage it. One question though ... is yours a 1993 like the one in the post? -
The Good, Bad, and Rusty - 6/26 CL List
NHMJXJ replied to Bonkers's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
That's quite a list ... maybe MJ's aren't so "rare". -
Thanks Blue ... and all! Anyone want to guess what the tracks on the headliner are? Clothing rack? :dunno: You can use the magnifier on the pictures on eBay.
-
The seller's not much help. The response was, "I don't know, sorry". One would think they might have that information. :shake:

Anyone know what this stuff is? Looks like a receiver hitch on the front of this XJ. Is it to tow the Jeep itself, or does it serve some other purpose? There's also a fairly large blue connector. I was guessing that was to hook it to an RV lighting system? Finally, what's on the head liner? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Cherokee-SPORT-/381305879819?forcerrptr=true&hash=item58c799fd0b&item=381305879819#ht_38666wt_925

Let me know if you see any 97+ 2 doors like that one!

MJ/XJ stuff ... Taillights!
NHMJXJ replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I did write, "pricey". What I missed was, "each" ... holy smokes! -
Not mine! Pricey, but they look good. http://lakeland.craigslist.org/pts/5042376504.html

Still in search of, and the urgency is increasing. Online searches turn up entire seats ... no one will part with just the fabric. I'll be selling my present XJ and the drivers seat is a huge turn off. At this point, either driver's or passenger side will work. Has to be better than looking at that nasty cracked vinyl.

Very nice.
