    I got haggled !

First person that showed up for my buddy's XJ (still for sale, BTW) offered $800 (he's asking $1500 firm). That was after taking it for a test drive and telling him how interested he was. He pretty much kicked him off his property.
  2. AFTER I got my $900 tires installed the guy at the tire place said a local off road racer runs 35" Kumo MTs. Grooves the hell out of them, uses them for one race, then tosses them or sells them for cheap. Might have been good to know and check out before I emptied my bank account. :fs1: Some semi tires are regroovable, but I wouldn't do it on light truck tires. And I definitely would not run them on the road or at highway speeds.
  3. Yeah, gonna have to play with the forklift at work again to flex the suspension to see how far I got to go with the cutting wheel. May have to move the front axle forward a bit too.
  4. But the 2.8 was a Chevy engine. Chevy has nothing to do with Renault and Delco Remyhas nothing to do with Bendix.
  5. There's two parts to DW. Something has to ALLOW it to happen (track bar, loose bolts), and something has to SET IT OFF (usually a bump, but in this case a badly out of balance tire). I am still puzzled that a tire can go from balanced to that badly out over the span of three days and 20 miles. Unless it's not a balance issue, but a broken belt (wouldn't be the first time). But I inspected the tire as that was my first guess, and I can't find anything wrong that would be visible from the outside. And yes, I am getting my new tires professionally mounted and balanced tomorrow afternoon.
  6. I used to pump to pump the tank dry last year to replace the pump sock and clean crud out of the tank. But I unplugged the harness nearest the tank and hooked up a battery charger directly to the pump leads. It worked, but your way is simpler.
  7. Just ordered 4 Maxxis Buckshot Mudders, 35x12.50R15. $883.95 mounted and balanced including sales tax  Will be installed tomorrow afternoon. ON MY BIRTHDAY! YAY ME!
  8. Bed is lined up nicely with the cab, so it's not that. Don't know how, or when, it happened. Again, I've noticed it before but didn't think much of it. With the spacers, it's just so pronounced because the sidewall of the tire is now clearly beyond the flare. I assume the simple fix is to loosen the U-bolts and then jack it up and tap it over? This should not work because the spring packs have centering pins that locate themselves in a hole on the perches.
  9. But are YJ springs spaced the same distance apart as MJ springs? The perches on a YJ D35 might not be in the correct location.

  11. Installed new heim on track bar, greased up axle side good, tightened loose track bar bracket bolts, tightened loose steering box bolts, and took it for a test drive. About 35 I get a little vibe, 40 it is a "real bad wobble", 45 it starts to diminish and at 50 the passenger seat head rest is vibrating. No more DW! Switched the front wheels with the rear and front vibe/real bad wobble is gone, but now I'm getting a butt massage... Tomorrow I get to renew my drivers license and order my new tires (Maxxis Buckshot 35x12.50)
  12. AFAIK all XJs (and MJs) use Saginaw (GM) columns. But a power switch in a 94 is unusual. Didn't the police package XJs have 120mph speedos? Either way, I have a 94 XJ and would love that cluster
  13. It does sound like a u joint. Remove the drive shaft and play with the u joints to make sure all 4 caps rotate smoothly. I'm willing to bet one of them is bad. And I'm guessing it's the rear one.
  14. May have found the cause of my DW. Find out tomorrow when I put it back together. Frame end heim joint on track bar was wore out and loose as a goose, and somehow the axle end was bone dry, not a drop of grease left, making the sleeve loose. Good thing is local hardware store stocks heim joints. Bad thing is that bugger costs $27!
  15. Yeah, isn't that the third time it's been posted here since December?

    Tractor supply

Ich wusste nicht, dass Sie deutsch sprachen.
  17. If the insurance company totals out your vehicle, they buy it from you. If you insist keeping your vehicle, they can insist keeping (some of) their money. You take the money, they take the vehicle. That's why they could only give me $1120 while letting me keep the truck. Any more than $1120 would total it out, they have to give me $1400 and they get the truck.
  18. You are entitled to lost wages because of injuries sustained in the accident, but very few insurance companies will cover that. You can mention it, but in order to get it you may have to take the driver to small claims court. Your insurance company may be willing to help with that, as one of their jobs is to act as your legal counsel (lawyer) in court regarding accidents.

BS or not, it's supposed to be funny. And does so exceedingly well.

    What yuh think

Now that you mention it, I checked the pictures again, and you might be right. So I retract my previous statement.
  21. The perches came from Ruffstuff Specialties. And being that long (7.25" IIRC) will help reduce axle wrap.
  22. Like this (axle is not under the truck in these pictures):
  23. When I SOA my D35 I used the original spring plates underneath the axle, on the old perch, and square u bolts over top of the leafs. The nuts and up on the bottom, but the shock mount is still on the bottom of the axle. This set up worked quite allright. Then when I went to a XJ 8.25" I used weld on shock mounts.
