  1. Holy smokes! That's some strict laws you guys have. I can run doorless, topless, hell even fenderless and the DPS doesnt really care one way or another. Same here....no real issues unless you're being an asshat
  2. So much fun. I love it mid summer here in ohio
  3. That would be great if you could - thanks. I just measured mine, its 3.25" but the amazon says 3.6" so maybe I ordered the wrong ones? :dunno:
  4. The reason is as Rockfrog said, its to take taking them off and putting them on super much more easier. Although Ive taken my hinges off and have had no problems with the shims. All it was, was one piece of metal on mine. lol I had no issues with it. don't forget on some the passenger side needs cut at the top, hammered out and flipped over. The drivers side bottom gets cut on all of them though. And once you go doorless you won't ever want to have to doors on again lol But I don't get the "but if I wanted no doors I'd just by a wrangler" I guess I could say if I didnt want in trunk space/ passenger space/ and a short wheel base then I probably would have got one. There's plenty of reason not to get a wrangler. Going doorless doesnt out weight the cons of oneIMO
  5. Welcome! Glad to have you! Don't forget to post some pictures of your truck! P.s. To post pictures here you need to use a photo hosting site such as photobucket and link them here
  6. Updates? lol
  7. I'm not sure what the temps are where you are but be careful with the torch as too much heat too quick on cold glass and it will crack. But you already knew that lol
  8. I thought the metal washer was supposed to stop the nut from digging into the rub bushing :dunno: I used mine
  9. I honestly could care less about the vettes as well but the whole sinkhole fascinates me lol
  10. That would be great if you could - thanks. Don, it rained all days yesterday and is currently raining... I'll measure when it's decently dried up. Sorry for the delay
  11. Here is the videos of the floor clasping Here is some the videos of the hole. It is MUCH larger than the opening that the fire department guesstimated it to be. In these videos you can see the the throats of the sink hole that lead down into the under ground water passage way. They were looking at the walls to see how stable the ground is...they took this video Wednesday. (skip to 1 minute mark, turn your volume down or off) (skip to 1:30 mark, turn your volume down or off)
  12. That would be great if you could - thanks. No problem. If I get out of class early I will measure them before work and post back around noon, otherwise it'll be after 4 pm central time lol
  13. Back with more info. For those of you that have never been there, that area in the picture is cone shaped with a large circle room in the middle. So some 30 years ago when they build the museum they ran the HVAC underground to condition the room they dug an 8' by 6' trench for a 36" round duct, then back filled it with extra gravel. Well they also back filled around the outside base of the cone with gravel. So every time it rained the water would wash down the cone hit the gravel, weep down under the floor, and into the trench. Well apparently they believe there is a large water passage or cave or both far down below where they measured too. So the water was slowly taking soil away with it over the years down this holes that connect to the larger system. And we just got a large amount of rain this weekend..where the water level in the streams above ground are still high..so they believe that was the final straw for the ground and made it clasp inward. 4 of the cars are visible and the other 4 of the cars are buried under ground because theyre the ones that fell in first.
  14. I can measure mine tomorrow afternoon if you would like me too?
  15. Yeah I saw that and that one looks messed up. It's a double edge sword man..yeah the tcase (cross member) drop you want to do will help with angles and help to save the pinion bearings in the long run..but it also kills your motor mounts.. Have you thought about lifting your truck less? I know the idea of low cog (center of gravity) isnt popular but it has many benefits
  16. ^ These work well. I used them on my cherokee and it fixed my vibrations And a tcase drop is nothing more than a bandaid for the real issue. IMO it sounds to me like you should just get an SYE and call it good. lol and stop over thinking it
  17. I bet you could take a pciture of it :dunno:
  18. Picts or it didnt happen!
  19. How in the hell do you guys find these deals???????/ I never come across a deal like that. x2 freaking everyone gets deals like this but me.....and you. lol
  20. One is one of my professors this semester. And here in KY sink holes are pretty dang common and basically there is a stipulation that says the ground is ever changing and we didnt find anything but that does mean that isnt something there or something could forum. And also one of the people that worked on the cite is on the board the musuem so if they sue theyll basically be suing themsevles. I actually was there this past fall. Quite a shame. Those were some beautiful cars in there. We've had LARGE amounts rain in the past year. It actaully has even changed the under ground water passage ways.
  21. According to the factory service manual, a 2WD MJ rides 1 inch lower than a 4WD MJ. Curiously, they do NOT list a similar difference between 2WD and 4WD XJs. Hmmm that makes me wonder... I wouldn't think they would have two different springs..but then again.. Lol I think we need to post this in the chat section and see if we can get some people to go measure their ride heights and compare Edit: is that 1" all over? Like front and rear?
  22. $188 for a rear set of 3" springs from hellscreek....... humm makes me think a small 3" as I have 3" OME HD springs in the garage. Will have to research brake lines, shocks, etc.... Anyone running a 3" now? Would a 31" fit well? I also have a set of 4.5" front springs so maybe the 4" would actually be 4.5 over the worn factory leafs..... Is the metric tonne model easy to identify? Not quite. Hell Creek prices their leaf springs individually. You are looking at $378 for a pair. "The prices shown are for individual leaf springs only. If you require two or more leaf springs, please change the quantity on the checkout page. " Product HC-MJ-3 Jeep 3" Rear Spring Quantity 2 Price per spring 188.78 Total 377.56 ^ He is correct, that 189 each. I thought at one point there was a CC discount but I could be wrong? :dunno:
  23. I thought it was 1" shorter in general :dunno: But then again I don't think there is a real visual difference in the 4wd vs 2wd heights
  24. No sir, I was just wondering, and since you don't have any plans to go to 3"+ here anytime soon, I agree 100% percent with you. And a 2" TJ lift coil would give you an 1" or less over stock. If it were me, I would get a 3" lift coil if they have one- if you're going that route...that way it would net you 2" or less over stock. When I was trying to figure out how much I wanted to lift my Cherokee- I measured from the ground to the top of the bumper (for example say it's 20"). I then added how much I wanted to lift my Cherokee (lets say 4"). Then I jacked up the passenger side till I got to 24" (the stock height plus the 4"), put that side on a jack stand and I jacked up the other side 4" (till the bumper was at 24" all the way across- more or less). That gave me a general idea of what the ride height for my Cherokee was going to be. I think this would work great for you, so you could compare the body lines down the truck and you could see how much lift you really want. Edit: Just fyi for everyone I stand corrected here is 0" lift XJ leafs http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/97-539.htm
