  2. Welded in the pass side rocker today, a little bondo and that side will be done. Changed the tcase and diffs fluid I don't think it did that much but it feels like it drives smoother and damn was that fluid nasty. :puke: Sadly I didnt get any pictures of my diffs as my hands were all oily. 3. Ive never heard of that. What does it do?
  4. Thanks man! I'm off to go work on my rockers and change the diffs and tcase! The count down till when school starts is 3 weeks and 1 day! And then I will be driving this baby 4 hours southwest into the commonwealth of Kentucky for second year of college. I've been told I cannot name any of our kids Stacy, so I'll call my truck Stacy instead. & yes its because of the song. lol
  5. Hey I was just wondering how often you all checked the torgue on spacers?
  6. Well this is what happens when previous owner of your new tailgate switches the tailgate's hinges, rounds out the bolts and then you snap one off. :wall: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found So when you get it all fixed you celebrate..go hit some balls and have a beer with the old man. lol Image Not Found Thanks man! She is a milion times better than what she was before...everytime I look at it I smile
  7. Well this is what happens when PO switches the tailgate's hinges, rounds out the bolts and then you snap one off. :wall: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found So when you get it all fixed you celebrate..go hit some balls and have a beer with the old man. lol Image Not Found
  8. I'll have to try that! If you try it out Vintage, let us know how it works out for ya
  9. :agree: IMO I would go with a valve job and a shaving..which is what I did for my 92 with 180xxx. Runs great now beside a dang noisy lifter and I know exactly which one it is...bottom line is if it looks sketch replace it. lol :soap box:
  10. I lifted mine in the front and not in the rear. But only put in a 2 inch BB to level it out some because mine had more of a factory lean than rake. IMO I think it looks good, but 3 or 4" would be going full retard on it. So mine has like 1" lift in the front. (taking out the 1" lift from the coil overs in the rear I have) So add 2 or 3" to the front of mine and thats what yours will look like. Image Not Found
  11. Yep I just did mine like last monday. You need a compressor unless youre going to unblot everything like Biotex said. And like Cheyenne said, "Support the truck with jack stands, I put them behind the lower control arm mounts, support the axle with a floor jack, remove the shocks (actually just the 2 mount bolts on the bottom), and the clip on the bottom of the spring." Then jack up the side you want to take out, compress the springs, lower that side all the way down and rise the opposite side and it ill come out no issues, super easy. Then do it on the other side. There are many ways to do it, thats just how I did mine.
  12. Stupid alternator locked up yesterday, it was my first time doing one. It was too bad, got it all done and took the truck out for a test run. Image Not Found Image Not Found I just need to do a little wiring for new header panel. What Ive going on right now doesnt work too well. Lol my jank homebrew antina mount until I can get a 98+ one. Image Not Found Thanks man, She's come a long way since I first got her.
  13. I know you post that in '10 but just for reference for anyone who happens to find this thread http://comancheclub.com/topic/17155-adapting-mj-headlight-harness-to-97-xj-harness/
  14. Image Not Found Image Not Found Little bit of soldering and wiring for the 97+ turn signles tomorrow and she will be done with paint! Then I need to bedliner under the drop in liner and mount my saddle boxes or buy a tool box. Still left to do: -Figure out why my belt squeels like a mofo (like its not moving) -Weld in the 2x4x3/8 square stock for rockers -Fix/adress SUPER slow windshield wiper motor -Change diffs & tcase fluid -Fix parking brake lever -Get new brakes Already done: -Mild motor rebuild (for new head gasket) -Change trans fluid -Swap radio's (gotta have that HD radio!) -Change out oil pressure sender -Change out both temp readers -Recover the headliner -Swap in H4 headlights -Install new shocks all around -Install new steering stablizer -Install new bed -Install 97+ finders -Install 97+ header panel -Install 97+ mirrors - 2" hubcentric wheel spacers -New lugs all around - 2" lift spacers to level out the front some -Bondo work (needs more- probably next summer)
  15. Okay, so I was looking at my tailgate today and I relized that I was posting pictures of the wrong thing. I was posting pictures of the hinges on the tailgate side. This is what the bed hinges look like:
  16. It's just one of these parts (This is NOT an MJ specific one, just for reference.) Theyre at the very bottom, I know its how Ford's tailgates hinge. I just don't have mine any more to see what works and doesnt size ways to take with me to the autoparts stores to compare them. Honestly I probably still would have picked it clean regardless of where it was. ALL of those parts were just wasted. Cash for clunkers was a huge pile of horse crap.
  17. Nope there isnt a single one. The day I bought my MJ was the first time I'd ever seen on in person. You gott remember I'm in Ohio. lol Trucks that are just a little bit rusty and you other guys won't touch are like gold here. lol which also mean there isnt much be slim picking at the junk yard, and honestly I don't know of any you-pull-it around here anymore..just the crappy ones where they pull it for you.
  18. Well I feel this project is never ending and Ive not got a chance to take it anywhere! Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Well I broke a shock mount and I fixed it by drilling and tapping the mount. Image Not Found Image Not Found And then I broke a door hinge.. Image Not Found All fixed Image Not Found Hopefully I can have all of this crap done by this weekend because it is wearing on me and I want it all done. :grrrr: :wall:
  19. It's like, 50% tech and 50% pub material. I am wondering where to get a replacement set myself since mine are rusted. I swear I posted in pub last night..maybe it got moved. Who knows, I posted it last night on my phone. I wonder if theyre the same as the ones on a s10 or ranger? I only need the very bottom hinges, like what the tailgate pivots on. If you would be will to ship them I would love to take them off your hands...otherwise its not worth the drive, ya know. Maybe I will just suck it up and get one of those nets thingy. One of these: http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/8189240/00240/
  20. Ill just leave this here for you guys: http://comancheclub.com/topic/39564-pair-of-early-mj-chrome-frame-tail-lights-80-shipped/?do=findComment&comment=398303
  21. Dang that's like a third of what ours is. I think ours is 220 a NT. Morning bump..But can an admin move this to the pub? I don't know how I managed to pull off that rookie mistake..
  22. Well long story short, I don't know what I was thinking but I took my old bed to the scrap yard (too far gone to fix) but I forget to remove the lower tailgate hinge mount-thingy. And as soon as I got back home I remember..of course ef me right? Lol but I said I was going to make it short so does anyone know where I can pick up a set of them? Or can I use any hinges off a differnent truck? Or should I just make a classified posting? This is what I'm looking for, but one for an MJ: http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/replacement_oe_replacement_tailgate_hinge/1104000029_REPTA68562.aspx But if any of you are wondering the 6' bed weight in 220 lbs I got $21 bucks for it lol which I will now spend, plus some, probably to pick up new hinges...my grandpa always said, you pay extra for stupidity. Thanks in advance, Zack
