  1. That'd be graphite fumes, wouldn't it?
  2. That's the 3.8, right? lol
  3. I know. I tried to give away the two dead 3.8 V6's I have here...everyone in tarnation called about them because they were free. However, they were looking for either the turbo 3.8's or the 3800's....why I would give either of those away free, I don't know.
  4. Because the engine isn't from the early 90's and up if it is the elusive 4.1. But now I see where you were going with it.
  5. My last one was a 79 Monza Spyder engine....bellhousing matching to the sm420 won't be an issue. ? ??

  7. Yes, they did have a 4.1 inline 6. I was trying to find an elusive 4.1 V6 to replace the 3.8 V6 in my 48 Willys, as it'd be a direct bolt in. I bet it isn't it. :(
  8. That's what I thought....possibly the ad I saw was a mistake, and it is the 4100 V8?
  9. Is there such a thing?
  10. Congrats dude....good to hear. :)
  11. Cheers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbQ7WkNw0ig J/K guys, all in fun. lol
  12. :rotfl2: ...wait canadia has an army? Yes. They are the ones who burnt your White House, stayed around to party, and then left when they ran out of booze.
  13. You mean like changing fluids, notice a leaky seal, think about swapping a tranny, realizing that you have a donor that would match that other engine in the corner, but it'd be so much easier with the body off, then the wife opening the door to the garage 1.5 hrs later going "What the.....????" :D

  15. Here ya go dude: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/v ... php?t=3251
  16. I'm sure it's the resistor...we have a Libby, and I'm sure I've seen a post on L.O.S.T.KJ's before. If I remember correctly, the glovebox gets dropped to access it.
  17. Sounds like a profitable trip. Can't be throwing out 44's now, can we?
  18. I assume going with a ZJ alt will not pose fitting issues with a 2.5l bracket?
  19. Why? You can pickup the 136A NipponDenso alt for cheap at the yard from these Mopar vehicles: 1997-1998 Dodge B.Series Van 1997-1998 Dodge Dakota 1998 Dodge Durango 1997-1998 Dodge Ram Pickup 1997-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee as well as others. PN:56027913. All you need to do is wire in an external voltage regulator for it; the provisions are on the alt for this. There are several writeups on NAXJA and other Jeep forums for doing this on a Renix. Thanks. It was my understanding that a 136a alt would cause issues with the older wiring.
  20. Everything is off. It does feel like the viscous coupling dragging, but I'm not sure how much drag there should be. Seems to be a LOT of drag, but that could just be me. The hard thing about learning everything first hand is not having secondhand experience to draw on.
  21. Yup, alternator bearings seized. Looks like a really bad soldering job on the back of it now. :shake: I figured it was the fan, but it was definately the alternator. However, the fan doesn't seem to spin freely....it should spin without drag, correct?

    :agree: , but it was a 94. :(
  23. Looks like my alternator has seized on me, along with the fan. As I have the 89 Renix, I'd rather not rewire to put in a ZJ alt (although the 136a upgrade would be nice). Figure I might just move the alt up with the 2.5l bracket upgrade as well if I can find info....does anyone have pics of this setup? And how about a belt number, instead of just a length (75")....computer readers at the front desk of a parts store have a hard time thinking out of the box. Thanks.
  24. If you think it should be on a wall, then I think you have too many Comanches running around your area. I agree...made to be used. You just need to find a project worthy of using it.
  25. I know a guy with about 8 of these things....they literally go anywhere. Cheap the buy, repair, and build. As in I don't think he has ever paid over $1200 CAD for one, including built ones.
