here's a company that i have used for a couple of headliner jobs we have done: http://www.wlsheadliners.com/tutorials/cherokee/ :D . Very good directions too!

The FSM states that the normal oil pressure should be 13 psi @ 600 RPM or 37-75 psi @ 1600 RPM  .

Need quick advice on an axel swap.
ROADLESS replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
sorry i didn't look at all the pics...it looked round to me. now i see the retarded diamond shape :D yea, you can put it in and the yoke should be the same too, so simply burn on new perches, get the right e-brake lines (or retrofit yours, or maybe dana 35 ones are the right ones?), new brakes and fluid, and you're all set. get a good pinion angle set while you're at it...not too far down and not too far up. i don't do degrees...just eye them up. someone else can tell you degrees of the angle The perches are already on. I would still check the pinion angle though. Looks like a very good buy if it's as good as shape as seller claims, and you get disc brakes too ! -
You didn't do anything wrong (if you did everthing right ) :smart: You probably have a bunch of air in the system now. I would park the Jeep so the front is somewhat higher than the back, and then begin the 'burping' process. Let the engine warm up as you already did, shut if off and the fluid level should go down, then add more coolant, etc.... This is the reason i switched to the 'open' system. Not nearly the PIA just to add coolant :brows: !

anyone do an egr delete?
ROADLESS replied to xipantera31ix's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
here's a couple of pics for reference to my previous post. Fabricated plate: Welded nut (sorry for blur): That really all there is to it :driving: ! -
anyone do an egr delete?
ROADLESS replied to xipantera31ix's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I picked up some aluminum scrap (about 1/4"), then traced and cut a plate out and drilled the two mounting holes. For the plugs, i just cut the tubing, removed the nuts, and welded the holes up (making sure they didn't leak) and then bolted em up to the intake and exhaust manifolds  . Oh, no after market suppliers that i know of. In fact the thread count on the nuts is really odd so i had to be careful not to screw them up! -
anyone do an egr delete?
ROADLESS replied to xipantera31ix's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Like xipantera31ix, our state doesn't do inspections either. Since removing mine, access to intake and exhaust manifold bolts/nuts is easier, plus it cleaned the engine compartment up a little! :D -
Weatherstripping and stuff
ROADLESS replied to onlyinacomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used bulk weatherstripping from JCW. If you go with JCW make sure to get the 3/4" x 3/4" 'push-on trim. Part #WF143539Y Last order i did cost less than $50. :chillin: here's another link: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Sear ... chbtn.y=20 -
comancheman, my son has Kevin's setup on his XJ and it is a really solid, well built track bar. He (Kevins) has JKS custom make track bars for his system. He also credited us about $35 for sending our old mounting bracket to him which lowered the final cost!

Spline count on the NV3550 and the NP242
ROADLESS replied to clarkerussell's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IIRC Oizarod115 is correct about the pre-91's having 21 splines. -
By kit do you mean the FIPK? If so, K&N does not make one (or anyone else that i am aware of) for pre-91 MJ's. Your best bet is to go with something like Rusty's airtube and put a cone filter on it.

comanche noob... whats best?
ROADLESS replied to decurion's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: with DirtyComanche about the ease of working on the Renix engine models (87-90). For a while they scared alot of ppl away, but now they are growing in popularity due in part to their reliability :brows: ! -
Pics of front end wreck and repairs
ROADLESS replied to richfactor's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nice work. Can't even see it was wrecked  ! -
You may also have a bad EGR solenoid or valve. I would check for this next if the problem still persists :hmm: .
-
Check with one of your local autoglass shops, they should have one or be able to get it. I checked this out a couple of weeks ago at Speedy and they carry both the replacement window and the slider IIRC  .

I say go for it  ! Oh, and don't forget to post pics. We like pics!

Electronic version of the FSM's?
ROADLESS replied to clarkerussell's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
no there are two diff MJ ones that are just for MJs IIRC. one for body and one for mech stuff. we had them at the jeep dealer i use to work for. they were both paperbacks. i tried to get them off of them but they wouldnt give them to me. they said they still needed them just incase. maybe i should repay them a visit. alex Thanks alex, i did not know this. Perhaps you could bribe them! -
Electronic version of the FSM's?
ROADLESS replied to clarkerussell's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IIRC aren't the FSM's (hardbound books) a all-in-one format covering YJ's, XJ's, and MJ's :dunno: ? At least thats all i have been able to find. -
Doesn't it get hot in Texas :smart: or are you immune to the 120* + temps that a black painted rig would create (he he)!

Oh, and one more thing i forgot to mention about Firefox - its waaaay faster than IE :clapping: !
-
Thief! LOL He stole my idea  I was looking into making a 'Quadcab' Comanche similar to the red one in DansGreyMj's post. I even had a line on a partially burned LWB at a local yard and when i returned about a week later to get a price, the yard had crushed it :headpop: along with my hopes of doing something unique  !

Ever since i started using Firefox as my browser, i rarely get spam :smart: !

You are right, it is an 87 as designated by the 'H' in the VIN#

I hope so, that's the only way to go. I have the bluetop (D34M) and love it. The reason i mention it is that i think Optima has recently added the DP Yellow top to their line and am just making sure ppl are aware of this. I also have a Blue top, won't buy any other (brand that is) IMO  !
