I don't get it. Why is ebay doing this at all? It seems like they are just doing this to piss off the sellers, I don't see who is benefiting from it.

I don't think I have ever posted any pictures of my Jeep on here before, so I figured I would put one up. It's not much to look at considering all the salt erosion but even rusty Comanches look better than most trucks on the road. I have some ZJ springs to put up front that will help even out the 2.5 inches of forward rake I have. I love this truck, it runs strong, is cheap to keep around and has never let me down.

I personally like the 22RE. I think for a 2.4 it should get better gas mileage than it does, but it is fine in a light duty truck that will stay on road. However, it isn't even in the same league as the 4.0. The 4.0 is regarded as one of the, if not the most durable and desireable off-road motors ever made by all types of automotive enthusiasts. And why would you even want to take it above 3k rpms when you have that much low end torque?

That was pretty ballsy stuff, too bad about their choice of music This is more my kind of of off-roading: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkzRasD5Osk

awesome.

That looks expensive, heavy, and seems to have very little surface to grill on. But it certaintly is clever, especially with the bowtie in the middle of the grill. Instead of regular grill lines you would have a dark chevy bowtie seared into your steak.

That is nuts. 13 second 1/4 mile, it's the ultimate sleeper.

Marvel Mystery Oil Question!
Tonedef131 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I actually get a lot more of my automotive work done during the winter. I can pull the truck in the garage and get it done when it is too nasty out to do anything outside. During the summer I would rather be doing outside activites than be stuck under a truck covered in oil. -
Marvel Mystery Oil Question!
Tonedef131 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Because even if it works it is a temporary fix and if he is planning to keep the truck long term he is going to need to replace it eventually. -
This is at work, I think there is a 4runner or something at home.

you mean the tundra looks like a ram OP, you're asking the wrong question...it's not a jeep and therefore worthless. How does that work? The Tundra isn't the one that just got updated. So he was correct, the new Ram looks like the Tundra. Toyota didn't look into the future when designing the new Tundra 2 years ago and copy off of Chyrslers 2009 design. As for it not being a Jeep, we are just going to have to settle for something else. Jeep has said several times in recent years that they have no plans to introduce a pickup in their line, despite two awesome concept vehicles. I assume Chrysler doesn't want it to cut into their cashcow Ram line. If you ask me (and probobly everyone on a comanche forum) Jeep needs a whole lot more pickup and a whole lot less FWD crossovers in their lineup. But on the bright side, 2009 looks to be the year of the diesel. All three American manufacturers are introducing light duty diesels for pickups and Honda and BMW for passenger cars. Audis V12 diesel is putting out over 700lb-ft, it is a good time to be an automotive enthusiast. I am especially excited about that 4.5 Duramax since that will probobly end up in everything, as will the baby Cummins without a doubt. I am sure Toyota will also be bringing one of their diesels to stay competative in the truck market, hopefully that awesome new D-4D.

Well I suppose this will just be one of those "when I get to it" kind of jobs. I just thought it was kind of funny how it started so shortly after I changed the gauges. So perhaps it is that that clip fell off after getting banged around during the swap.

Sythetic Motor Oil - Crap
Tonedef131 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I put synthetic in my man-tran because I wanted the very broad viscosity range it offered. It shifts like new now. However I would never bother putting it in the 4-oh, so other than my tranny the rest of the truck gets conventional dino bones. -
So just hit it with some lithium grease or something from the top?
-
I swapped out my gauges for full ones a couple of weeks ago and everything is working great. However, a couple of days ago my speedo started to shake a little bit. It isn't a big deal because it is still working and I don't have CC anyway. Over the last couple of days it will come and go in different severities. It has been VERY cold the last couple of days, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. So for a long term fix am I going to need a new cable or can I just grease it? If it can be greased is there some kind that I can just spray in the top and it will work its way down or do I have to remove it to grease it?

that depends on what you do to it and what drive train you have in it. a stock 2.5l mj isn't all that exciting, either. Thats as maybe, but at least the MJ is exciting to look at. I actually have had some fun in the older Rangers. I was refering to the new ones being sleep enducing.
-
That is seriously awesome, he should start selling those.
-
How much did that cost as a factory option? I have seen it in my owners manual, but I have never actually seen one on a Jeep. I figured they would have been more common, I can't imagine buying a brand new MJ and NOT getting the factory winch put on.

The ranger is about the least exciting vehicle ever, I almost slipped into a coma last time I had to drive one.

Temp Gauge not working...
Tonedef131 replied to Beachbum1236's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Reinforcing this, and don't trust what the idiots at autozone or wherever tell you. Make sure in the description it says that it is for the gauge, not the light. I actually had to end up ordering mine online since no one carried it locally. -
I already have whole new hardware kit. But now that I am replacing EVERYTHING inside I am wondering if it would just be the same or cheaper to go with a disc brake conversion. Does anyone know what vehicles used rear discs on a Dana35 and how much they go for? I don't mind putting some extra work into it, but would I need a different parking brake cable and brake lines or what?

Cooling system conversion finally done... :)
Tonedef131 replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That looks great man. I have always kind of figured I would do that when something went wrong with my cooling system, but nothing has so far. How much $ did you have into the conversion when all was said and done? I'm sorry to see a diet beer there, a project like this deserves some real beer ;) -
Alright, I am going to check with them and get them new if they aren't too much money. Simply because I would like to get this done sooner than later. But I appreciate it, how much would you want for those three parts for both sides shipped to 46845? I know sometimes dealerships will try to bend you over on the prices of parts you can only get from them. So I will definitely keep it in mind.
