My rebuild (some humongo pics)

Yea, get thet 160 out of there. factory is 195 I believe. 180 is the lowest anyone should put in. Also be sure you have completely "burper" the system. An air bubble is a bad thing in a closed systtem like the MJ's renex have. I would avoid the BB's. I am removing mine as well. Having the tires rebalanced with stick on weights on the inside of the rim where they are harder to rub off!! CW -
I put the shackle mounts on my TJ. They bolt thru the top into the bumper mounting nuts. CW

Couple things to check.. 1) Your heat problem. Check to make sure you have a thermostat in place. Bet ya there is none in there. If its gone, the PO took it out for a reason. How does the anti freeze look? Maybe it had an overheating problem. You motor will like you MUCH better if you re-install one. 2) If you top speed is only 73 and your motor is pinging. I would check that timing. Someone has been in there fiddling around. Get a timing light and make it right. 3) Wobbles like you talking about are likely tire balance. Death Wobble, generally cannot be overcome with out a full stop and you walk TWO FULL complete circles around the jeep to see what exactly fell off!! ;)  4) Your TB only has one bushing. Thats at the axle end and if its a factory, its not changeable. If its shot you will need a complete new TB. Good luck, CW -
how to: install a factory transfercase skidplate
CWLONGSHOT replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Thanks for the compliment!! I need to bend a piece of pipe and cut to correct legnth... Can you give me a measurement? My MJ is at the DR getting new gears so I cannot measure it.. LMK the distace from the dottom edge of the X member to the drain plug in the T-case. Not the piece where the spot welds are. But rather where the nice 90 degree bend is that is the very bottom of the X member. All I have so far is a cleaned up XJ X member with a coat of paint on one side. More soon... CW -

You inspired me man!! I got one of my spare cross members out and had my way with it using my angle grinder and a wire wheel!! Its all nice and clean. I painted the back side and now need to bend up a piece of poop pipe and weld it on for a T-case skid!! CW -
I have always changed my dino oil and filter vehicles at 2500 miles. Reguardless of how the miles where put on. Now most of mine run synthetic oil. So I change out the filter at 2500 and the oil and filter at 5000. Sure it will work longer, but like everyone says, oil is cheap insurance.... CW

They are 4x6 plates. Yes they are 4X6 plates. But what Eagle is saying is the 4X6 he has is not really a "speaker" size. Its mearly a smaller round speaker put on a plate for fill a 4X6 opening and CALLED a 4x6 speaker... CW

My buddie gave them to me when I was beginning my build of the MJ...I kinda think I should return them to him... CW

Tire/Wheel questions and some other dumb stuff
CWLONGSHOT replied to SlimFisher's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not to worry, 3.75"BS rim and a 10.5" tire will allow "stuffage" without fender wrinkling... Thats what I have!!! won't work with a 12.5" tire though, only just clears a 10.5" tire..... CW -
Jcr sells it right there on the page with the steering setup!! I had my jeep mech do mine on the bridgeport. He was a machinest in his last life and is VERY good with this kind of stuff!! CW

I have 6X9's in boxes behind the seats now. They sound good, but I will be putting them on the factory location when I gut the interior come spring time.... I say a pic somewhere, here I thought. Where a kid was able to cleanly mount a 6X9 to either sede in factory location only slightly canted.... Thats my plan along with some of thats afor mentioned Infinity component speakers for the front... CW

Twisted, YES!! Thank you, I think that is the place!!! I'll order my stuff now! Thanks. In thinking about colors...I got to thinking whats the big deal about changing the reg for a new color?? Now that I have so much time till I actually do it. i have time to really think about colors...I really like the idea of BRITE YELLOW. You don't see any MJ's that color.... SO, I asked SPENCER (Vinal sticker fame) to photochop yellow paint on my MJ. I REALLY LIKE!!! CW

Gold tooth, GREAT TIPS!! Thanks I may do exactly that come warm weather... I go some more parts yesterday!! Thing is they have been on BO so long...I forget I even ordered them!!! :D I never really liked the turned down tow hooks on XJ/MJ's. But now with my pending front bumper build I am not use these... I saw someone post up a site where you could buy pre made steel pieces to weld in for shackle tabs, shock tabs and the like...anyone have the link??? CW

Tire/Wheel questions and some other dumb stuff
CWLONGSHOT replied to SlimFisher's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Speedo could just need lubrication... Rims will fit no problem. Depending on what year they are orig off of...the back space on newer ford rims is 3.75 instead of thr 5.25 of a Jeep rim. So the tire will be pushed out from under the jeep more with the ford rims than with tyhe Jeep rims. this is good for larger, read wider tires as it keeps the rubber away from lca's. Post up some pics whan you actually get it and let us all see!!! CW -
I don't know for sure, but I would say yes he is. Its just likely a small part of what he offers and it dosen't "rate" to make it to the web site... Although, I could swear I did see it there somewhere... Maybe it was Bandits site. CW

WELL.... I just got back from Maaco I went over for a quote on my $250 paint job. First off, i gotta sai i aint so nieave to think I would have really gotten a paint job for 250 bucks like that advertize...but I DID think I was going to get it shot for about 600. NOT!!!! :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: Try $1500!!!! Here is the break down; $250 PJ is really $350 as its an additional $100 for painting a PU truck. EVEN THOUGH I don't want the inside of the bed painted. $75-100 PER DOOR for the jambs. Then, because the clear coat is peeling on most all pannels of the truck. it is going to require a complete sanding and primer coat. Thats $1000. Total it up, your talking $1500 - 1550 bucks..... I don't THINK SO!!! I'll shoot it myself this summer with rattle cans before I pay that kind of coin!!! CW

I placed my order for the Back Bone from Detours Tuesday I think.... he is going to call me sometime next week when its built and ready to pick up. Nice having him so local!! I save on shipping but have to pay TAX!!! :headpop: :headpop: I'll begin the bumper once I get it and my MJ back from the shop... CW
