  1. I COMPLETELY sympathyse with your argument and opinion!! I seem to have to do everyone's job for them!!! Its the little things that get me......I don't want to get started. Buck up, double check things and don't go back to where you got screwed. There are alot of people who take pride in there work and do a good job. You just haven't been doing buisness with any lately!!! CW
  2. I am watching and enjoying this thread immensely!!! I will be doing this myself this spring summer!!! CW
  3. This is the best way to go!! I would NOT use this axle for anything but parts.... Its only wasting your time. Take out the axles GREAT SPARES!! Part it out and throw the parts on EBAY. You won't get all your money back.... but you'll make that sour taste in your mouth a bit sweeter. CW
  4. I think I am going thru withdrawls.....  :headpop:  We have a club run this Sunday... I am assured I will have it for this run. Trouble is, I would REALLY like to get the winch and winch mount of for this run as well.... As you may know...its NOT JUST A BOLT ON. I got a bit of a "fix" Sat when my buddie and I swapped in a Tera 4to1 kit W/2wd lo into my TJ. Thats freakin' LO!!! CW

    Oil Change

WIX are top shelf filters/stuff!! Napa and most better parts stores can get them for you! CW
  6. Your on the right track... NO FUEL= PROBLEM!! Now to figure out why.... Start with the fuel and line...trace the line and get new/known good fuel in there. Put in new filter. While its off, blow threw line to engine to see if clear. CW
  7. Call the JY and see if you can return it!! That really sux, I feel for you guys!!! Its VERY likely it will spin fine and mesh corrctly. That dosent change the fact that it is broken. There are MANY MANY D35's out there ....go get another!! Those gears are compramised, you alresdy have one with a problem...why would you want two? The D35 is problematic running one that has a known problem is looking for trouble. Good luck, CW
  8. Any pics of the bases yet?? I got the Corbeaus mounted in the TJ last wek and will be working on the MJ soon..... :brows: CW
  9. I decided on it for a number of reasons...(most mentioned) First and foremost safety. Its plain safer with synthetic. As for the dirt, wash it!! Throw it in the washing machine, it works fine!!! As for mud...I avoid it!! So thats not a problem either. Vehicle maintance is a top priority for me. I always take the time to properly respool my steel line, so its likely I'll do the same for the synthetic. Lastly, the steel line was frayed and kinked form miss use. (prev owner) It was $130 for steel and $150 for synthetic. Weight savings was a nice addition as well!! I too haven't needed it much on the TJ. When I needed it I was sure glad it was there!! But thats locked both ends. I don't condone wheeling alone, in the same reguard, I like to be a self sufficent as I can. CW
  10. I picked up a Winch Thimble and a Winch saver last week...now I just need mt MJ back to put all this stuff on!!! CW
  11. I go in "head first"!! :D :brows: ;) Yup, I too hit my head a couple times REALLY good...I learned to lead with my head when entering!! CW
  12. I am going to do this myself...soo as I get the MJ back that is.... IO am also swapping in TJ buckets!! Snap some pics of how/what you dd. I would LOVE to see what you came up with!! I am not a small guy...@ 6" 240 lbs. I could use my seats a bit lower!!! CW
  13. Yes a D44 from a MJ is a direct swap, no issues. But you will need the ubolt plates from the donor as well as new U bolts for a D44. I would go for the D44 with the 3:55's and pick up another D30 with same gears. You may even be able to recoup some coin by reselling you D30... Good luck!! CW
  14. Using shackles alone to attain 2 additional inches of lift, would require almost a 9" shackle. I would not do it, thats just too long!!! The "right way" is to get new springs. The next best is to rebuild you pack to get the lift using leafs from other vehicles. Lastly I would go with s FULL LEGNTH add-A-leaf. Just my 2 cents... CW

    MJ on eBay

They painted EVERYTHING!!! Notice the fornt JEEP logo, rims, side vents, interior door panels, specfically, inside door handles.... and look at the carpet!!!  Someone obviously LOVED GREEN!!!! CW
  16. I was under the impression that the older Jeep wheels had 5.25" backspacing, whether they were 6 " or 7" wide. Even some of the newer 8" wide rims (like those found on a TJ) should still have about 5.25" backspacing, right? To the best of my knoledge, yes, you are correct Pete. Stock Jeep wheel, BS, for the TJ, YJ, XJ, MJ and MOST ZJ's is 5.25". CW
  17. I forgot to mention..I also got some synthetic rope and a alum fairlead for the Warn M8000 today!! CW
  18. Shoot Mark an Email. I was just there tonight. He finished my Back Bone winch mount for the MJ!! He is a super guy. I am sure he will do what he can to accomidate your needs. I asked him how things where going for the MJ crowd..seems he dosen't get much call for MJ stuff..... If simular dimential problems come up I would be happy to let him measure MY LWB or my buddies SWB. CW
  19. I got a call on friday from Mark @ Detours. He said my back bone was ready for pickup!! I couldn't get there till tonight. VERY NICE!!! This is NOT the one pictured on his site. he has made a couple changes and lightened it up by about 5lbs. He moved the shackle ounts up under the winch plate and "vented" the non structural areas. resulting in the weight savings while retaining all the stregnth. He said he has sold quite a few of these and NEVER HAD ONE COME back!! BTW, its gaurentd not to break! Here are some detail shots: I almost cannot wait, untill SVE finishes up my MJ so I can get this mounted and try it out!!!! :loveit: Bri
  20. Looks really good!! Its nice you have the weather to do all this now.....its single digits here!!! I am swapping Corbeau b suspension seats into my TJ and will put the TJ buckets into my MJ. I have XJ buckets in there now... BTW..looks like you have the seats swapped. What I mean is, is the pass seat is bolted in on the drivers side. CW
  21. Its been slow and laid back here with out my MJ to fiddle with... Getting ready for the game and figured I had time to strip the cable from the used winch I picked up....GLAD I DID!!! It has a couple pretty bad kinks and one frayed area. Guess where.....yup almost dead center!!! The kinks are not aweful but still there. I guess its time to try synthetic line!!! :brows: Anyone else using it?? CW
  22. Check out my MJ post for an idea on those lower shock mounts....Its easy and works well!! I bought the bolt part from the "help" section at the parts store... I am going to be working on the upper mount come warm weather...gonna tip the top of the shocks to the center of the truck to allow me a longer shock.... CW
  23. Pete, LOANER TIRES...What a GREAT IDEA!!!! I have a set of MT/R's in stock RUBY size that would be great candidate for this in my local club!!!! Thank you for the idea!!! CW
  24. This swap to am open system is on my adjenda for warmer weather as well!! Be sure to post up how your goes!! I'll be watching!! CW
  25. The 8inch memsurement is EXACTLY what I wanted!! That and the second to last pic is great as well!!! What I am thinking is to take a piece of 1" tubing and bend it in a "U". Cut it to like 9" and weld it to the X member so it is under the Tcase where it protrudes reward. Then weld a piece of steel inside that "U" from the bottom. I'll be sure to post up pics and measurements so others can do the same if they want to... CW
