    Likely the hubs are your noise(s). You'll be shocked how quiet she'll be once you change them. I say get new dust shields. They're there for a reason.

    I can't argue with the OP too much. ANY V8 in an XJ/MJ has got to be a total bi^#h to work on all crammed in there like that. A healthy 4.0 or mild stroker would be quite nice. Now if you wanted to be really cool you'd try a vee-dub TDI swap (mostly so I could watch another one before I attempt mine ;) )

    The only reason I'd consider one is the provision for the MAXI fuses. Otherwise I'm pretty well sold on the newer style 2.8mm stuff. It would be cheaper!
