  1. looks like the burning rig is a 2dr xj chopped down. back of the cab looks like the hatch welded on and that's not much more than 4-5ft of "bed" back there.
  2. dude, leave it like it is! the color pallette in that thing is a mind bender!
  3. Oh, yeah, forgot about that. Sure enough, we got to drive it! Since Pete couldn't make it, we let Jeepco drive it first because he has the most posts behind Pete. Well, unfortunately the drive was short lived. Pat got side swiped in the left rear quarter of the bed, but that was after he threw a rod and tore up the rear end. He threw the rod because the temp gauge wasn't working and blew out the rear because it was a Turdy-Five. He offered to put twin snowmobile engines in as a replacement, but they said no. :D I got to sit in the seat and honk the horn. Chico thought he was taking pics to document everything but he only got of one pic before the batteries died. Unfortunately his thumb was in the way. ;)
  4. now there is a die-hard mj fan, took a day off to clean his seat covers!
  5. AMC, I did have the system evacuated and vacuumed......I think. After the new parts went on I had a shop owner I know make sure it was evacuated and that the lines were clear. He said it was ready for refridgerant. As far as the valves, no I did not open them up. I thought they were set in the correct position already and that they only needed to be open or closed for other service needs, not just to recharge, but I'm definitely amateur at this. So do I open both the high and low side or just the low side to pull the new 134 in? And when that is done should both valves be closed, open, or "half-way"? I remember looking at a tech piece on A/C talking about the valves and I thought I glanced over something that said they should be in the "half-way" position for normal operation. But again, learning as I go on this. As for PAG oil, this recharge system already has it pre-mixed and I was told I did not need any additional? Waiting for your instructions............... **Brigarpeon......should be a nice and different color on the 87 for sure! What are you going to do about the maroon interior? Any other updates?
  6. Sorry FunnyCandyBarName, you missed it. We went on 4th of July weekend and gave Chrysler a sob story about how it was a piece of Americana and that it was their patriotic duty on our Nation's birthday to prove to this small but diverse and passionate group of AMERICANS that this marvel of function and beauty was not just an urban legend, but a real and tangible reminder of what our country was, and still is, capable of when we put our minds to building something great! :USAflag: Guess I'm a couple weeks late for my Patriotic Address, LOL.
  7. Ok, got the 134 adaptors put on, put a new expansion valve on, had the lines blown out, and finally went to charge the system but it's not taking refrigerant as it immediately shoots up to 100psi. Sooooooo, how do you check if a compressor is good or bad, or is this basically the answer? Assuming it IS bad, what can be used for a replacement in terms of year and model of Jeep or other vehicle, such as SW2's 93 XJ part out bee-yahtch? :brows: Thanks!
  8. fyi, when you pull the seat back cover up, you may have noticed the headrest posts slide down in to black tubes. it's a two piece deal and you have to reach up in there and feel around for the clips that lock the inner tube to the outer tube. have fun trying to pinch them, mine were hard as hell. i think on one of them i had to reach in there with some pliers. also, if you ever want to switch from the full padded headrests to the see-through headrests make sure you swap tubes also because the tubes with the padded headrests have bottoms. the problem is that the see-through headrests are shorter and therefore the posts go farther down and bump up against the bottom. you could probably just drill them out but the tubes on the see-through ones are open on the bottom end. don't ask me why jeep would make two different mounting tubes, why not just make the pass-through version for both style headrests?
  9. hey, any chance that one with the 4.0 Jasper is still available? how many miles on that Jasper? i'm only a few hours away......
  10. Wade Duecy, I love your impulsiveness, cracks me up. I think you are so money on this and you don't even know it. You are already ahead by what you can sell and getting the seats out and other parts out vs. having to go get them individually, especially what you'd pay JUST to get seats. I'd suggest you confirm that it is a blown head, you never know, it may have been something simpler the PO mis-diagnosed. What kind of miles are on the 4.0? It might be worth putting on Craiglist or something for $1200 to see if you get any takers if the rest of it is in good shape. Someone who can repair it themselves might consider that a worthwhile deal. If not, maybe check out mfpm's "how to" on crating here and I'd say you got some money on that thing with the hood, fenders (unless you keep them), doors and hatch, much less interior parts.
  11. Woohoooo! Definitely found the needle this time! Check it out Ladies and Germs, some real-deal M/T packs O-fficially in my possession! And, God bless rust-free California, they're in incredible condition. :D When another member said he'd like to buy my 6 leaf bastard packs (still waiting though), I went back on the hunt. After learning that 86 M/T's only came w/AMC20 rear ends, I based my car-part.com search on 86's and the AMC20, not on leaf springs where I had to rely on the JY "maybe" identifying in the notes how many leaves it had. Sure enough, one of the first ones listed had my treasure. Oh, and apparently that AMC20 they were sitting on is still available if anyone is interested. MJeff, time to get together and do some wrenching!
  12. Pat, if you paint it black and white, you're gonna need a few other parts to make it right. Starting with the motor.......... "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas." Oh, and fix the cigarette lighter. :D
  13. now that's fender cutting to the extreme. he needs TNT's writeup on how to extend his flares!
  14. Don't be hatin' now. There's nothing "fruity" about it. It's a friggin lime in a beer, which adds more of an acidic edge to it. As for "fruity" beer, I believe I mentioned earlier that Mich Ultra came out with their "lime" version but then went a little crazy with the idea and they have a mango or orange crap and even a pomegranate one (the newest fruit flavor sensation....by far). Now THAT'S a fruity beer, known in the 80s as a "malt beverage" or as Mr's Bartles and Jaymes sold it, a wine cooler. :brows:
  15. nahh, he's pretty fragile. older fella with a cane. it's probably a daylong project to dig a hole. hey, maybe he works for the city maintenance dept?! :brows:
  16. Wade, maybe it's because I typed "Craiglist" not "Craigzzzzzzlist". doh! :dunce:
  17. Wizzade, I tried that and it didn't seem to work, I'll try again. Adam, funny you responded because I was thinking of asking if you had any or knew of any. That said, just sold the OE 16" off my '03 525, looking for some 17s real quick, tires or no tires doesn't matter depending on price. Would consider 18s but would prefer 17s to keep tire expense down. Don't forget, e39's have the odd 74.1mm hub bore. There are some M6 reps I can get, but want to see other options. OE Style 42s and Style 19s are options. ADR or ASA's are nice. Generally, I am looking for a silver (NOT chrome) 5 spoke or web-designe (i.e. BBS's), in 17x?, needs no less than @15mm offset and no more than 25mm, 20 is perfect. Tires need to be 235/45 or 245/45s, or 245/40s if on 18s. I don't want to rush but I don't want to lose my buyer if he has to wait too long for me to get my replacements. Thanks for any help. :D
  18. don't have firefox.......... wade, where do i type in what you are saying? in the address bar or in the search keyword window? i.e., if i am looking for 17" bmw wheels, do i put ("17 bmw wheels" site) w/out the parentheses of course. sorry to make this so difficult
  19. mfpdm, thanks for the quick reply, but does that give me a nationwide search regardless of what "city" i originate the search out of? when i search out of the "help/searches" page, it defaults to san francisco. is that normal?
  20. can somebody PLEASE tell me how to set up a nationwide search on craigslist!!! post replies or email to greg@barnwellandjones.com Thanks
  21. one of the few times the word "rare" is an accurate description. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Tru ... .m14.l1318
  22. Be careful Rick, if you hear sirens, it's the cops coming to get you FOR STEALING THAT MJ!! Damn nice for $17 hunge man, damn nice.....
  23. 750, you got proof of that? that would be cool because everything i've read and heard says there is no place to get them anymore. if true, they'll be out of stock soon enough when the club gets your response :brows:
  24. eff CarDomain LOL, put on the sticky here for "introduce your MJ"! :brows: Grrreat looking truck man. Do I see a compass/thermometer rearview mirror in there?
  25. I've been waiting to catch this old dog parked close by to take and post pics for everyone here. This XJ has a 2.5L in it, and as you can see.....well...........she's had a hard life. The old guy who drives this used to have an old Mercedes and then I saw him driving this recently. The Mercedes didn't look much better. Unfortunately, the guy is pretty bad off, looks like he may even live in the thing. Notice the different wheels and tires on each corner. The back is usually filled with rakes, shovels and other tools. I guess the cops know he's harmless and let him drive this thing around because it has to be the farthest thing from legal. Anyway, just wanted to share another "can't kill a Jeep" story....... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
