how to replace floor pans
WahooSteeler replied to lennyKatan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yes, XJ and MJ pans are different. there have been some other members here who have gotten pans from them and supposedly they do have true MJ pans. however, i remember reading that you have to remind them several times while ordering that you want MJ pans. that being said, i also remember someone commenting in the same thread that the XJ pans still worked pretty good with a little hammering and modification. i would suggest you do a search on hear for "floor pans" or "sherman" and you should find more detailed info. -
Why do MJ owners switch the front clip?

don't listen to them, they're trying to throw you off the scent. the 97+ front clip is good for a minimum 30+ Hp increase. :brows: -
how to replace floor pans

http://www.shermanparts.com/ you can get fairly good fitting replacements here if you don't just use your own steel. -
Damn shame it doesn't have more pics. It might actually justify his $7k asking price. Somebody needs to get that guy in the Club so we can see and learn more about it. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/car/764381397.html

This 86 on Craigslist has the rare and never seen "aluminum tires". http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/car/770323247.html

It's all good. It just proves that emails and chat forum posts are easily misunderstood without hearing the tone of the "speaker's" voice and/or seeing their body language. I may have been guilty of "assuming" most people on here have a decent idea of my personality after almost 1000 posts, and that it would be understood my whole post was said in jest. A little reminder now and then, such as yours, never hurts to help keep things in line or be more explicit in prefacing or concluding a post with the intent of my comments.

Wow. Did I miss the memo about taking our serious pill this week? First Eagle hammers me for poking fun on JT's "Steph" thread, now the Wildman thinks I was trying to be mean on this one. I thought the smiley at the end of the sentence was to help identify the humor in the comment?

:agree: Yeah, and technically a 5 spd is rated for 4000 lbs, auto 5000 lbs. If it was thirty minutes away, I personally might say do it, with extra caution of course. But as Wildman said, w/out trailer brakes, you're practically going downhill at all times.

tandem axle trailer will not be ligth, obviously. i think they are rated to tow 5000 lbs, you'll be over that, but how far do you have to go?

Anyone using Royal Purple diff oil?
WahooSteeler replied to JohnQ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
cool, thanks......... -
so let me get this straight. you are willing to pay to have someone like wildman in New York SHIP YOU Rhubarb when it is $3/lb in the store??? A couple thoughts or questions come to mind. 1. I assume you are hoping someone grows it or has access to free quantities, otherwise you are betting that the store price is cheap enough the shipping cost does not put you over $3/lb. combined. 2. How often do you eat a pound of it in one sitting that it is cheaper and easier for you to get through the almighty Comanche Club network vs. paying $3 to your local grocer and just enjoying yourself. 3. What is the name and cell # of your crack dealer so I can tell him to stop selling that stuff because it is eating in to your rhubarb budget and causing you to make irrational decisiions. :D

I am getting ready to do mine too, so "Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do". I.E., what is involved? -
Eagle, once again, you need to not take things so seriously. Read my post again, I responded in jest. Jeez.....
-
DAMN! A little hardcore about this aren't you there oh Wise Bird? LOL, easy there Eagle, eaaaassssy. I think "complacent" might be a bit strong of an adjective to describe our role in JT Honey's little contest. Ahh but I like the competitiveness in you Bald One With Beak. It burns strong in you! :D

Ok, took me awhile, but I voted. She has a rather commanding lead.

where can you get new break lines
WahooSteeler replied to JpComancheKid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
FJ40s are absolutely awesome. I haven't seen one that couldn't do anything a Jeep could do off-road. One of my best friends had one in high school, after the straight 6 died, he talked his Dad in to putting a 350 in it, as so many other people did. Suffice it to say we won many a stoplight drag against some hot rods. But that motor got us in a lot of trouble off road. I guess when your 16-18 you think HP offsets any steepness of hillclimb, depth of a mudhole, or just lack of traction. :D -

Haven't taken a close enough look yet Horn-man to see if it is just disconnected or has plumbing issues. But with no major negative points made yet as to why NOT to have it, I'll plan to hook it back up some time soon. Thanks for the input y'all............. -

That was my thought, so I thought I'd ask for problems it presents before hooking it back up. -
good point. if he's similar in that regard, all the more reason to not let him be the next one.
-
yeah, i don't think you're going to be jockeying for space at the bidder's table with anyone from here for that one :D
-
he didnt choose his name! He chose not to change it! :D So, if we had a guy who was named 'Omar Mohammad Kador' or such, and he changed his name to 'Keith Evens' you'd trust him? that's hilarious. and cutting through the BS, IMO of all the potential reasons he should not be President, the simplest one is he is not experienced enough to be qualified. Catch him with a question he is not prepared for or can't spin towards his rehearsed responses and he stumbles.

Wildman, you mentioned disconnecting the height proportioning valve, which is a common opinion on here. That being said, I was going to hook mine back up (was disconnected when I got the truck) since most of my use is hauling or towing things. With my recent acquisition of MT packs ( read: increased loads :brows: ) it seems like an even better idea to make use of it. Those are my "pros" so if you and others could tell me the "cons" I'd feel better prepared to make a edga-ma-cated decision to hook up or not to hook up.
