I'm sure I could trim it. I can pop the glass out and trace the opening. The sunroof trim on the inside is part of the rubber gasket, it has a channel that runs all the way around it. I'll get some pics and post them up. It's basically the same sunroof as what was in the XJ.

half ton or one ton? I know the one ton chebby TRE's require the knuckle to be reamed out. Supposedly Dodge one tone TRE's drop right in, but I've never seen it in person.
-
I saw it on the intarweb.

yep. never know what ya got till you take it apart.

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np231.htm at the bottom on the right, nifty little chart for the 231's input gears.[/code]

I'll dig it up.

all ax-15s were 23 spline. The major differences were in the output shaft length. early ax-15's were short output, later were long, I believe the change happened somewhere about the same time as the external slave deal.

also, if you're swapping axles. GET NEW LCA BOLTS! that's all I have to say. they cost about $25 for the set at the dealer. I had to cut two of mine out, and broke an upper. I can't imagine that your truck isn't rusted like mine, so be prepared to fight with those ones. Make sure you've got about 6 sawzall blades, those mothers are hard, and eat the teeth right off of them.

talk about beatin to death....

200 bucks for a motor, trans and some random stuff seems like a pretty good deal to me. If I wasn't flat busted right now I'd buy it in a heartbeat. is the trans a 4wd ax-15 or is that your 2wd one? either way, I'd still take it, I need a new input shaft to rebuild mine. I'm kinda hoping that it can hang around for a month, then I'll have the funds to take it from you, but I'm not going to commit to anything until I have the cash, so sell it if you can. -
what about trackbar? 3" of lift will offset the axle? I took the cheap way out and drilled a new hole in the trackbar bracket on the axle side. It's an option, and got me mostly centered up, it's off about 1/4" inch.

I would like to have that trans, as I think mine might be on it's last legs. I'll have to talk wit the wife and see what I can work out. Not interested in the tudy five, except maybe for the shafts. I've got 2 of those housings sitting in the garage I need to take to scrap anyway. -

I'd love to get some parts, but I'm the brokitty broke right now. -
cab corners are tough to get looking good. You'll need a prebent pice to fit. I don't think anyone is making replacement cab corners, best bet is to see if you can't source a junkyard beast with decent metal and cut it out. Make sure you cut it bigger than your patch, an I mean a lot bigger. You'll end up cutting out 2-3 inches from the rust spot to find good clean metal.

Jeff, I could make that trip up to windsor it's about 4 hours from me. You'd just have to make it to Ashland one of thse days. that's about 4 hours from the burg. I'm tired of kicking this D-shaft anyway :) -
New MJ87 Owner. What do you think?
87manche replied to southernjustice76's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
My rock rails were originally yota rails. They're 78" long. You'll have to get creative with the mounting since the frame isn't straight on the Mj and bends outwards after the cab. Mine are about 3" shorter than I'd like them to be, but the protect the cab, and the beds gonna end up cut anyway. they were made for me by this man: http://xjnation.homestead.com/index.html Brian's a decent guy, treated me right. price was good, less than $300 to my door, primered and ready to paint/mount. -
x2, and the ginormus bumper. I like the grill, and that's about it.
-
oh I'd be stripping those. I'm getting my hands on 2 sets of taillights, guy I know with a TJ had two MJ's back in the day. Says he misses them. Of course I wouldn't mind having his 8.8/HP30 with ARBs and 35's TJ :)

autometer gauges in the stock location
87manche replied to jbhill's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
could always make a pice of sheet aluminum to fit in the stock cluster opening, then you could arrange the guages however you wanted. I'd really rather have my tach on the right for instance, and have my water temp and oil pressure on the same side. -
I second the TJ flares up front, my brother used 4 rear flares on his XJ, I liked the look better than the front flares. They just don't flow with the XJ/MJ front end. Not sure if they'll fit out back because of the wider wheel opening./
-
yep. same motor was also popular in winnebagos, lot's of people get parts from those.
-
they should fit, depends on what whees you have and the backspace. 8" is way high.
-
I've got a HO PDC to graft into mine. I can run all the fusible links on the maxi fuses. THen I'll have a nice place for all the relays, and there's spots for a few mor for a light harness, th best part, it bolts right in. I just have to hoow up the relay sockets and the maxi fuses.
-
the easiest way to burp the system is to put two holes in the thermostat for the air to pass through as you fill up the syste, two small holes at 12 and 6.

long live the renix man. You can tune and tune and tune. i think I've finally reached the pinnacle of gas mileage. I keep trying to break 25, but I just don't think it's gonna happen. I should mention that I'm more than happy to "lead the parade" on the highway. 53 mph is where I get the best gas mileage, 5 miles over thatand I lose 2 MPG, so ya'll can kiss my bumper, I do 53 :)

can he make one that fits around my factory sunroof?
