Aftermath of a Dead Alt.
87manche replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if the guages aren't powering up I would check the guages fuse in the fuse block. I can't remember what color wire it provides power to. the brake warning switch for the e-brake will be a grey wire with a red stripe, you can see where that leads you. Since all the dash stuff seems to have stopped working I would bet that it's the guages fuse. Should be a 7.5 amp jobbie. -
naw, the frames fine,. it's just everything that wasn't painted. most everything up this way looks like that underneath. People in the rust belt love 3 things: PB Blaster Torches Air Tools They're needed for most everything that goes on under my truck, and everything get's put back together with neverseize.

http://www.teamcherokee.com/ they have the full set, but will sell you just the fronts for a discounted price. I emailed them once to find out, but I can't find it. Email them, tell them you have a comanche and they'll sell you the front door seals and the front wipes. Good luck on the sunroof gasket, I've been looking for over a year now for one of those. Do you have a mopar sunroof?

when my MJ goes truggy, and it will when it's not a DD and I have a tow rig, I'm copying that bed. It's just functional, and I like how it looks like an old willy's truck bed, flat sheetmetal.

just cut the plastic panel with a speaker template, mine also has 6x9's in the rear, and 5 1/4's in the doors. It's plenty loud for such a small cab.

check out these tires-30x9.50x15

I saw them on a random ranger at the gas station the other day. they looked nice. the tread voids aren't as deep as that picture looks. I'd call it an aggressive AT. -
Where to buy new rear springs?
87manche replied to warf90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
espo springs and things will make you some. -
I agree, I picked up nearly new 34x9.5 swampers on 15x8 rims for $450. Looking on ebay for some stret tires and found an auction for some 33x95. bfg's for $10. Too bad it has 5 days left and the stupid bidders are jacking the price.

looks like it was a 2.5 auto, could it have the magical 4.56 stock axles?
-
I think the only really difficult parts of that swap would be Getting all the parts Making the speedometer and guages work, since that dash is all electronic.

Softening the rear suspension
87manche replied to feerocknok's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
might just want to check the bushings and the torque on the bolts back there. After my lift the rear end rode horribly and didn't flex well. Came to find out that the rear shackle bolts were way above spec torque wise. torqued them to about 80 ft lbs and it rides fine. -
what can those be found under? anything close to stock width in that? disc brakes I imagine are available/have been done by the musclecar guys. I'm going 8.8 or 8 3/4 wen I do it this spring. I was leaning towards 8.8 because I can go find one geared 3.73 to match my front for about $90.
-
that's the plastic bushings. A bit of silicone spray on those goes a long way. Mine started squeaking wen it got cold.
-
I've not sent you any photos, as I'm missing all of the decals on mine. It's a nameless heep

the 6 speed is physically a larger box. You'd probably have to rework the tunnel sheetmetal and the trans crossmember.

go and fine the proportioning valve out of a ZJ, they came with discs from the factory.

Squishy brake pedal
87manche replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
signs of a failing master are usually that. Push it firmly and it will build pressure pump it and it will build pressure push it slowly and it will sink to the floor as the pressure leaks around the o rings in the bore. -
Best/Easiest way to put in a CB

Mines hanging off the front of my center console, right where the handbrake would be in an xj. -

it's all fun and games until you grenade the d35 :) it wil happen, I've got a d35 in the garage that lost all the teeth on the spider gears because someone dumped the clutch. It was even behind a 4cyl -
Those decals look good. I see that you updated the site with comanche fender decals, that's awesome. i'm missing the chrome comanche emblems on my fenders. Planning on repainting the truck in the summer, likely gona get the whole set. Any chance that you can make the 4.0 litre and the Command Trac decal as well?

the people telling you that it's major work to get the 97 front clip are crazy. It's bolt on for everything in front of the doors. and the doors aren't terribly difficult either. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.p ... =door+swap
