D35 vs. D44 drums, brake parts interchage?
512tr replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If I remember right the D35 drums are 9" , and the D44 are 10" so there will not be many parts interchangeable. -
Thanks guys :-D ...I guess you mean the MJ as the proud papa...he is oldest and most experienced..., I'm just their mecanic and sponsor.. The MJ will be the Jeep that will get most attention in the comming years, just love the car and the potensial is endless. My GF said after she tested the XJ, verry good to drive, practical..but the Comanche will always be her favorite... The YJ have 35's...6 years ago I replaced the rear with a MJ 44. I was suprised that the MJ SB is so mush longer than the XJ.

97 temp sensor in a 89 'manche
512tr replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The early HO's have two water-temp sensors, one for the water-temp gauge and one for the PCM. Here is my 94 mod. -
Thank for the replies, the alternator is ordered...(should fit XJ 88-90), so I just have to wait and see if it will fit in the existing bracket.

K..where/what are the oil galleries? how hard is it to pull the pushrods out and put them back in..ie is there valve lash to adjust or do i just torque them to the proper specs? Just remove the rocker-arms and pull out the pushrods, rember to mark the pushrods and rocker-arms in order to install them at the same location, the lifters are hydraulic and non adjustable. It's several cemical engine-wash addetives on the market, I have used the QMI engine-wash on my YJ with good results, but did a proper cleaning when I removed the head and replaced the lifters last summer

The alternator stopped charging last week-end, I'm able to get a new XJ alternator. Will a 4.0l XJ (88-90 mod) 100A alternator fit my 87 MJ ? I assume both have built-in voltage regulator?
-
I removed the stock prop.valve, and for me it works good without the valve. I do not have any problems that the rear locks before the front brakes, have been driving only on snow and ice since I removed it. The rear is a D44 with 10" drums, here's how I did the lines..

Funny, last night I replied on a Norwegian Jeep forum, exactly the same question :) Her the wiring diagrams, all the way from the battery, via the ignition switch to the rely and the horns.

DirtyComanche, whats wrong with Rusty's, bad customer service, bad products?
-
87manche, the link to the wire diagram doesn't work, do you have it stored on your HD?

This reminds me when I once made a temporary table out of a Harley engine. (until the frame was finished) Nice, solid and a good place for the wine.. :)

87manche, here is a cheap cover for LWB http://trucktoys4less.com/jeholotoco.html Have been running the computerised Planned Maintenance systems for my companies vessels (Pipe Lay-barges, Diving Ships, Subsea construction ships etc.) using the Maximo and Amos PM systems. Right now am working with project management during the refit of a big Lay Barge, doing planing, progress, budgeting and sh** like that :-D Miss the times when I was out in the field, and got dirty hands.. :)

Since the MJ still having the stock size tires, I decided to fix the old broken and rusty hoist.. Made this temporary device to hook the wheel to the wire. Installed the hoist, and put the spare below..did work good :) How do the stock part look like (the part going through the wheel and connected to the wire), any pics?

need help resetting emr on 91 comanche
512tr replied to starfox's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
On the 91 with OBD I syst. the light have to be re-seted by a scan tool. I think the light comes on after a certain milage, to tell you its time to replace the O2 sensor (even if the O2 sensor is working perfect). -
Ok Jeff, you ask for it…don’t you think posters like this makes a mans primitive mind more creative ? :D :D Agree, I think the 6 carb syncro job will be a PIA, but don’t see it as a big problem…just a big challenge he,he :-D Big bore pistons are in, all carbs are re-jetted to match the increased displacement, free flow air filters and free flow exhaust (6 to 1) . Last night we (GF and me) installed the Tonneau cover, and one finished vent cover, here it is…

Hi guys, have been up in the mountains, nice and cold ,-15C (5 F), but dressed like Eskimos the cold is no problem :) Did also change the track-bar on the MJ, due to bad Rod End. The tonneau cover is coming from Summit Racing Part no: TKS-441188 Price: $165 Will post some pics when installed. Here’s where the sixpack is going …. Check this link for more pictures/info. http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/showthread.php?t=16104&page=1 Did the chopper 6 years ago.

Agree, could easely be made. I have always used magnetic oilfilters (buildt in magnet) on the Harley's. First time a see this seperate magnet, to be placed outside the filter. Read more here http://www.filtermag.co.uk/

Thanks 87manche, I was thinking if somebody which have power MIRRORS could check and see which wires (colors) is going to the numbers I have listed.

Did start on the covers today, not sure if this design is the solution..have to see how it turns out.. :)

Santa came with a Tonnau Cover :-D and two oilfilter magnetizers, for both Jeeps. Anyone using these?

Power Mirror Switch. My stock manual adjustable mirrors were broken so I got power mirrors from an XJ ( didn't find manual mirrors) Got this switch, I think it’s also from an XJ. From the 88 FSM LEFT MIRROR YEL to A WHT to B BLU to E RIGHT MIRROR YEL-T to D WHT-T to C BLU to E 12 V to G GND to F Is anybody able to tell where the A-G letters are on the switch? A= B= C= D= E= F= G=
