Well I ditched work yesterday to try and get the interior of my MJ buttoned up before our ride next weekend. I had to make a mount for the inside of the seats that raised it about an inch. I also installed the side dash plates that I made out of Aluminum Diamond plate. I had to do some minor adjustment to the brake switch and then installed all the plastic and the rubber flooring. I bought a small cooler from Lowes and am eventually going to build a small plate to mount it to but for this ride I just used a bungee cord...... here are a couple pics, sorry for the poor quality the light wasn't very good inside the garage.

Windshield guy stopped by last night and put the windshield back in..... if things go well i'll get the passenger seat and the rest of the interior in this weekend. Then I'll get to start on Bobbing the Bed.....

Very nicely done......You've came a long way..... and aren't you glad you didn't scrap it...... LOL..... -
Worked on getting the 04 WJ seats into the Comanche yesterday...... Had to drill out the spot welds on the Donar 96 bracket then drill out all the spot welds on the floorboard support in the MJ..... I didn't get the passenger side done but I did get the drivers welded up. It sits a couple inches higher than my worn out bench which will help with visibility on the trail.... here's a couple pics.

Looks real good.... I'm running 4.88's as well and seeing the size of that pinion brings back the uneasiness I felt when I saw how small it was for the first time. However I've beat mine hard and so far haven't broken it yet.... again... well done on the build, I love seeing MJ's that actually find their way into the woods....

No pics of the roof...... I wanted two center bars so I could build a console between them but my cage guy talked me out of it in favor of 1 bar down the center and more "Helmet" room.....

I was lucky enough to spend the weekend working on the MJ, I got alot done but not quite as much as I'd hoped: Drilled 7/8th holes in A-Pillar supports ( front of dimple die fit but the back was too small to fit between the roll bar and A-Pillar) Modified Defroster ducting to miss the A-Pillar Support Bar. Installed 96 brake pedal and brake light button (I now have brake lights) Installed new Heater fan motor Installed new heater fan speed control Installed new heater vacuum lines ( I now have a functioning heater an defroster) Installed dash Installed Tilt Steering Column Picked up a piece of Lexan for the back glass Here are a few pics of the installed dash.....

I'm looking for a rubber floor covering for my MJ.... mine is in real bad shape and with the way I use mine I hate to put in carpet.....

Thanks buffalob....... as for the tube doors I've already picked up a set of donor doors and here is what I'll be using as inspiration.......

Got the cage painted and the Dash Mocked up, I took off a little too much in a couple places but I plan to swap over to 97+ harness and Dash as a winter project so I'll just leave it for now. This would have been a great time to do it but we have a big ride next month and don't want to miss it. Here's a couple pics........

thanks, I like to get others opinions when it comes to decals..... I sometimes go overboard......... I was thinking it would also look good on the B-Pillar, mine is missing the 4x4 emblems.

Very nicely done..... -
Since I sold my hood I'm going to need a new hood decal..... Figured that my Manche is an AMC and should be badge as such ....... wouldn't it have been cool if AMC had made an Off Road edition MJ....opinion are appreciated ..... : )

Lookin' good Coffman........ did a port visit to Tasmania back in 2002 and will never forget the trip..... I was Kelp diving off the southern coast at 110 feet.... visibility was about 30 feet or less and we had been briefed to watch out for Sharks.....with a bottom time of less than 7 minutes we were taking full advantage of the scenery. In front of me I see a huge grey figure appearing out of the murky water and before I could even react it was on top of me...... the beast was less than 10 feet in front of me when it finally turned and I see this big round eye and realize it was only a Seal....... still scared the crap out of me....... : ) You guy's have a lovely State.....

It looks beefy but it's only has 61 feet of pipe in it....... he only wasted one 2 foot piece in the whole project..... he'd probably tell you I could roll it off a mountaintop in Harlan and still drive it back on to camp..... :)

Ok I'm sold..... I've been trying to figure out how to keep my bedsides but protect them from being crushed all at the same time...... never even considered having removable bedsides........ I also drew considerable inspiration from the Zone Offroad Truck, well at least with my roll cage..... very nice...

I think stance is everything on an MJ and in my opinion you've done an excellent job with getting yours to sit right..... very nicely done....

The rear window will be Lexan but in 3 pieces. I'll cut a couple pieces of flat stock and weld those to the window lip as close to the bars a possible. Then I'll cut and notch the 2 side pieces and bolt them in. Next the center section which won't be much smaller than the original window..... my plans are to us tabs and make this section removable so when I'm on a long ride with good weather I can remove it allowing for more "Natural" air flow. Of course that's my plan, but you know what they say about plans...... LOL

Thanks guy's I really like how it turned out... now to get the 97 dash in, the WJ seats and a custom console and I'll be ready to wheel again.....
-
Well my cage guy finished up my roll cage last night..... I still need to have the mount for the spare tire done (which will drop down from the hoop) but first I gotta get it over to my brothers to have 6" bobbed from the rear of the bed. Once that's done I can mock up the spare and see where I like it....... A buddy of mine sourced me a piece of lexan for the back window so I still need to get that done as well.......
-
That is excellent information.... thank you very much.....

I like OBD II, however I despise the "Bus" system..... I started this post because I just finished my cage and was getting ready to reinstall my 91 dash and thought it might be cool to just install the dash part of a 97 instead. I mean since the down bars are in the way of the side mounts and my windshield bar is in the way of my windshield mounts all that has to be an "Abortion" anyway regardless of what dash I hang in the truck. So with the exception of the gauges that will be replaced by after market ones anyway and the steering column which seems to be the exact same location I figured I'd ask if anyone had attempted this and maybe save myself some time. Thanks for your input it's exactly the kind of criticism I was looking for.
