  1. its interesting you say that cause i also love rotary engine as they make more HP and TQ per liter than a conventional internal combustion engine. diesels are sweet too but usually need a turbo charger and whatnot plusyou gotta plug em in during the cold months. a cummins with a chip and properly built and tuned would be wicked cool to see though
  2. yeah its true but not until 70 mph. and it has the same possibility of rolling at high speed whether its awd or 2wd. personally i would take a long box 2wd dropped about 3-4 inches and built from the ground up like show quality and can run in quick street class (less then 10 seconds)

TNT from my years at the dragstrip i would have to go against you in the AWD department. a locked D44 with street drags radials would be much better then awd. once you get to the point where the truck no longer makes enough torque to spin the tires awd slows you down. and you can get to 30 or 40 real quick. DirtyManche... a 350 or 351 with a 3 speed auto or a 4 speed and propper gears would make your truck about as fast as it can go. the few pounds from loosing the locks and windows is only a little little bit of time taken off. i would look into doing a winter project with that. I'm not sure where you are but my friend may be able to sell you a 305 for cheap. (I'm in new hampshire) or maybe a whole 350 with a 3hree speed. obviously this would be a on a 2wd as street rod trucks are 2wd

  5. yep its true... I'm begining to think that a 3'' lift with a leaf pack would be enough
  6. spent $30 on tires and wheels and got $38 for the aluminum wheels at the junkyard
  7. well you can do an SOA and then you could put on XJ shackles. I'm sure most XJ owners would love to trade you
  8. BFG's may be "cheap" but you still pay $45 for shipping 2 and to ship 5 its $110 so its not really that well priced
  9. the wheels look to be a different size so id say they arent the same when you get a new one bring your old one to the junkyard. copper is $4.50 a pound up here

  12. hmm around here ive seen all sorts of mud trucks with 35's crawl rocks and shoot mud sky high with highway gears 4.10s arent needed for 31's but they do make things easier. remember that an engine can run past 3000
  13. check the wires coming off your distributer. my chevy died when one of the wires went to hell
  14. i like Toyo open country m/t but the a/t arent bad either... the knockoff brand of BFG a/t's are General a/t a bit harder to find but a lot cheaper, atleast around here
  15. 28 inch wheels eh?? soa is not the easiest but imo the best... it will give you about 4 1/2'' to 5'' lift and you could run 32's nicely. or you could buy a 4'' kit for around $450 front lift best idea would be to buy an AAL kit if you want to do a SOA and then bring your AAL to the junkyard and get what its worth

  17. yes they do but they don't add as much lift like less than one inch. now the only thing with AAL is that they make for a harder ride as the AAL is lifting up the other leafs so take that into consideration. i guess you could always run tires low
  18. An Allen wrench will turn a torex screw. Just don't over torque it. do it right or don't do it! if you have to turn it go to sears and get the one you need :bowdown: sears
  19. here its nothing special but should lift you a little the rear may not be 2'' but the rear sits about 3/4'' higher so it should even it out Ebay lift kit
  20. its true... but i would just use the tranny he has on the motor now
  21. dirtymanche... nice tranny thinking but 700r4 is a terrible tranny! if its going to be a racing truck either get a turbo350 turbo400 or a 2spd powerglide (may be harder to find but well worth it! my friends dad runs one in the circle and its an amazing tanny) living the mud life... if a 700r4 is free go with it but expect problems down the road, especially if you plan on racing with it. the tranny off your firebird should work... might take some tlc
  22. chase... 2" budget lift (not reccomended but cheap) 3" with coil pack.. thise are basically your options without anything major. go over that and you worry about axle and steering issues.
  23. 8.8 center section is cast? What are your plans for the truck? With the way I use my truck, and being as lazy as I am, it'll probably end up with a radius arm rear suspension. no exact plans but when i get one i would like to run coils for all the obvious benefits. i won't be towing with it... thats what my stepmoms titan is for
