  1. You will need to change your battery tray out for one for a 4.0. Yes your alt will be able to handle it. Just ask Jeff he has one of my old Yellow tops in his rig
  2. There are several aftermarket beadlocks that are strret legal. They are all over 200 bucks a piece. Staun makes the inner tube style, and they work great. H1 bead locks are as cheap as ppl think. I have a set in the garage, that I still need to buy centers for. Thats another 200 bucks for centers. Then 100 bucks to the guy that does them in the club. But I will then have a set of double beadlocks for 500 :D BTW you guys can all hate me.. I bought a 6 15x10 5x5.5 bead locks for 300 :brows:
  3. FC's are really rare (read hard to find parts for), which means there won't be much aftermarket for them. Are they cool hell yeah

The plans as they stand are to convert Pong to a leaf spring front :nanner: and to take A set or ford radias arms and fix the crap they did t the xj. It has a radias arm front on it, and the way it looks is the they cut the brackets off the old d30 and tried to re use them, with bad results. I pick up the radias arms on Monday :D
  5. Yup.. thats what I was talking about
  6. The thing with DIY beadlocks... is IMHO you are not saving any money, when you can buy ones that are all ready made up for about 130 a rim. Lets do some math Figure black steelies are 45 bucks a pieceso thats 180.. DIY BL kit is another 200. So now you are in the rims for 380. By the time you buy a couple of flap discs lets say you are good with your welding skills and only have to grind paint and only use 2 discs at 5 bucks a piece so now you are at 390. Figure you need to replace you wire for your welder.. anothe 14 bucks, and fill your CO2 tank... 12 bucks so now you are at 416. Lets factor in your time at what you make an hour for me thats 21.19 an hour. It is going to take at least 30 minutes a rim if you are good, and since we aren't we will figure 45 minutes a rim. for a total of 3 hrs. Now you are at you might as well say 500 bucks. when you could have bought a set for 520... Hmm it doesnt seem logical to put forth that kinda effort when alL I have to do is pick up the phone
  7. It don't look to good either :nanner: The whole problem with stacking things on top of your rig.. is that it makes them top heavy, and depending on how and where you wheel, you will be hitting it on lots of trees :brows: Also If you are like me... you like the off chamber stuff, and having extra weight up top is a bad idea
  8. To be honets with you welding on your own beadlocks looks fairly simple, but it really isnt. You have to set the runout on them, which is basically makeing sure it is true to the whell center itself. It is alot harder, then it looks. It is amost cheaper to buy a set of bead locks then it is to make your own, unlesss you have all the proper equipment
  9. I have never been there, and the way I understand it.. I am not missing anything :brows:
  10. All I have to say.. is once it is off... who ever shows me the money.. as quick as possible will get it :D But there is a list of ppl who have claimed "dibs" on it. Whats this "DIBS" crap anyway :chillin:
  11. Nice looking rig :brows: I have a brand new gas tank sitting in my garage if you are interested. If you hold off a lil while putting the bed back on.. you might be able to swap in my 8.8. I just need to strip the f250, and set it up for my junk

    Price feeler

I can attest to the weak sidewalls on BFG's.... I have replaced 2 so far.
  13. There is a company making what looks l;ike Baja style tailgates that can hold a spare tire. Might be kinda cool for you
  14. IF it tells you anything we have a guy in our club running 38's on a 4 banger yj with the np435, and np231 t-case. He has dutchman alloys, with yukon superjoints p front, and yukon 35 splines in the rear, no issues. Then we have a propane powered cj7 on 36 SXs and he has a d44 up front, and he is popping them left and right. I have 35's with yukon alloys and I am breking shafts as well. Loyd he has a rubicon, on 33's and he just broke his second short side axle on it. Like Dirty said.... Its all about wheeling style, and what forces and moons line up to cause breakage. I just see to many flaws in your plans. IF you want, I will trade you a good np435 and a good np205 for your atlas2
  15. If you go and buy new.. go with BDS, thats what I will probrably use up front
  16. Remember to set you caster to what ever the caster angle was on the donor vehicle, other wise you will have some crazy handling issues. I am still chrunching numbers to figure out which leaves I am going to use as well. I plan on running a shackle reversal with a square driveshaft driving vibes don't matter on my rig, as i t is a trailer KING anyways :D More then likely I am going to ditch my front bumper for one with a better approach angle, I was also thinking of dovetailing the front :nanner: As I will no longer need my coil bucket area, plus it will allow me to run bigger tires
  17. I think I might know where a tranny and t-case might be for cheap.. let me make a call or two tommorow
  18. Wow.. To run 38's even with the 8" kit is going to reguire some serios sheetmetal trimming :brows: The D44 with alloys, and top of the line parts, and 38's are a stretch. I wouldn't think of 38's on a 9" unless it was the big bearing housing with alloys and 35 spline axles. The front Tj 44 is nothing but a d30, with d44 gears. It uses the same tubes, same ball joints, the only difference is the gears... and I don't know of too many ppl who have destroyed pinion gears yet. I also think your choice of tr4anny is going to bite you in the @$$. Since you have an Atlass t-case.. why not go with a np435. Strong as hel tranny and got a 6.8 to 1 first gear I will buy the Atlas if it is a good price :D
  19. with all the work you all are going through, it would be just as easy to custom fab some mounts like I got in Pong. Just a thought
  20. Not sure... I guess I can go to the garage and measure it...after I pull it down from the attic part  Unless you are putting in a SYE it should work for you. I can tell you a SYE, LOng bed, with SOA,equals a 52.5" shaft
  21. I got a auto Long bed driveshaft here at the house if you want to come get it... Its Pong's old one... I don't know if it is what you need
  22. The question is what kinda tires did you buy? When I bought my 35's I only paid 200 for 5 of them  and replacing one is not something I want to do.. So I will be moving up in size soon.. I hope to some 37's or 38's. Patrick
  23. I dint think there was a huge differencein power
  24. I found out about CC on Jeep forum.. from Pete. I think there was about 15 ppl who visited the XJ board thatowned MJ's and we finally got our own section, then Pete started this one.
  25. I haven't driven the rig enough to really notice if there is a true power difference. I think the rig is almost geared right. It has 4.10's and 33's on her. It has been so long since I have driven a stick.. that it almost seems sluggish compared to my 35's on pong, and that rig is an auto
