  1. Oh, Jim, thank goodness you found it! I knew I'd left it somewhere, just wasn't sure where! I'll PM you my address so you can return it. I was so worried.
  2. Thanks Alexia, I ran out to TheDirtyJeep401's place in Joplin, and he walked me through getting the new glass in. It's in, but cleanup has to wait for another day, so the door is only halfway back together. Now the real trick is to get our apartment management to actually install some security cameras around here instead of having the insanely lazy security company drive through once a day, at the same time every day. After some talks with our neighbors, turns out this is at least the 6th time this has happened this year.
  3. Appreciate the offer Jim, but I actually got a text from a member out in Joplin, and he's got one for me, so I'll be running out there soon to get it. Hopefully we can just get away with changing the glass, but if not, maybe I can talk the door out of him... despite it being red. Obviously getting a door to match color would be preferable.. but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker. And, of course, a few months ago, my dad wrecked his XJ, which was the exact same color as mine.. and I'm pretty sure his driver's door was fine. But, alas, he's 600 miles away and didn't buy back the truck.
  4. I need a 97-01 4 door driver's door. Preferably manual windows and locks. Don't care at all about color as long as it's in decent shape and has good glass. I know I could just change the window, but 1. I have no idea how, and 2. It's probably just easier to swap the door. I need this because I woke up to this - Need to be in or around Springfield, MO. I've been to the biggest junkyard here recently, and all they had was an 88 and a 92, so I'm not hopeful. If changing the glass isn't as bad as I'm thinking, I could use some help with that.
  5. You would need to swap every bit of wiring in the truck.... and everything else from a 91+ 2.5 XJ/MJ. Just bolt your TBI system to the new motor, and you should be golden. You may need to swap some sensors over from your old motor.
  6. You're checking ohms on the two battery terminals? Resistance is something you never check when there's power, anywhere, and you never check on a battery.
  7. You've got the giant aluminum space on there right? Has it been bled correctly? The external slaves need to be held compressed during bleeding.
  8. It's because the carrier isn't centered in the axle, so one is a bit longer than the other. Same holds true with the D44. No, the Chrysler 8.25 shafts are the same length. (99.9765% sure on that).
  9. Which parts do you need? Also remember that the D35 shafts are left and right specific, as they're not the same length.
  10. I'd do it. Sounds like she needs to learn the lesson somehow, and getting embarrassed as hell in an interview would have the best impact.
  11. I saw charokie on a CL a while back.
  12. Quite a few people think this when they hear Comanche: It's a hard word to spell. I mean, it's not like it's on the side of the vehicle or anything. It really doesn't matter how common of a word it is, when you're trying to sell something(especially a vehicle), you're just flat out lazy if you can't make sure you have the basic details correct.
  13. No, they didn't. Umm, no. Both my 87 MJs came from the factory with 3.55 gears (2.5/AX4 and 4.0/AW4). The 2.5 came with 205/75R15 and the 4.0 came with 225/75R15. And they came with different speedometer gears to make them as accurate as possible with that tire size. The difference is only 1 tooth, but still different. I stand corrected, gentlemen.
  14. The speedos weren't really accurate from the factory, especially since the speedo gear was based on axle ratio, and not which tire size was put on the vehicle. XJs and MJs came with at least 4 different size tires, and they all used the same gear. But yes, it could be off by that much for many different reasons combined.
  15. :yeah that:
  16. Since you know it's a 5 speed, then you can eliminate the AX-4. The AX-4 is the AX-5 minus the 5th gear. I saw a rumor once about the T-5 being used in the XJ/MJ, but never saw proof of it. Until I see otherwise, with definitive proof, the AX-4/5 were the ONLY manual transmissions used behind the 2.5/2.8 in the XJ/MJ. When changing tire size, you want to look at the percentage change, not necessarily the amount in inches. 235/75R15s are ~4.4% bigger than the 225/75R15s. Remember this is going to throw your speedo off a tiny bit, so if you speed already, you may want to back off a bit. Say if your speedo was dead on with the 225s(which it isn't) at 60 mph, you'd actually be going 62.6 with the 235s. Doesn't seem like much, but still a consideration.
  17. Must be a hidden setting somewhere, since not all the topics are like that... yet a lot of them are. I never really noticed, since I tend to just type it that way anyway. German classes got me in the habit of capitalizing ALL nouns...
  18. Maybe we should all pitch in on a 3D printer for stupid parts like this.
  19. That all depends on why you're replacing the gasket.
  20. As someone who's tried using an 86 external setup without the cone... yes, you need the cone.
  21. I'm really not understanding this problem with the crossmember not lining up, and it's not the first time I've seen it. XJ/MJ crossmembers are the same. They have the same mounting holes. The transmissions are the same, and the mounts are the same. If nothing's lining up, then you're either missing something, or have something on incorrectly. Do you have that stupid little zig zag plate that goes between the mount and the trans? Are you sure it's not a YJ mount? Can we please get some pics of it not lining up/the setup?
  22. Yeah, XL AALs only give about half, or less, of their advertised lift on an MJ. XJ and MJ leaves are really different.
  23. Aerodynamically ridiculous as well. I lifted one of mine about an inch when I did the 4wd swap (just threw on 4.0 coils), and it definitely handled differently.
  24. Also another thing that was eliminated from the 2.5 in 91. I replaced the trans in my 91 2.5 twice and didn't have to deal with that either time.
