I seriously doubt it's a fuel pump issue. I'm gonna have to go with Eagle on plugs/wires or injectors.

He specifically asked about the D-shaft length, so just to clarify, the yoke on the D44 sticks out about an inch further, so you'll need a D-shaft about an inch shorter.

I haven't actually been to the body shop, just noticed it sitting behind the building as I drive by. I get the feeling it may not be for sale. An employee(I'm assuming) drives an MJ. It was there thursday, friday, and now it's back today. Something tells me it's his personal project. Either way, I'll still stop in and ask about it. Even if I can't get the MJ, hopefully I'll at least find another enthusiast I can give a CC card to.

600 is about average for a rebuilt one. You should be able to get one, with a T-case, in the 2-300 range. -
I picked XJ... but it really depends. One of the MJs isn't really driveable(needs a rear axle). The 4.0 is fine other than a caliper that once in awhile will lock up a bit. Just seems that I drive the XJ more than the MJs cause of the kiddo.

Yes, the shifters directly interchange. -
Cruise COntrol in a 5spd?
Geonovast replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not entirely sure on the list of parts for a Renix, but, you should need; Vacuum actuator 2 piece speedometer cable Cruise steering column stalk Cruise brain box from under the dash Wiring harness to go from the brain box to the actuator I did the swap on an HO, which was ridiculously easy. I only needed the stalk and the actuator, wiring was already all in there and the ECU controls the cruise. Any clutch switch should work... AFAIK, the pedals were never changed. -

Why would he need the CJ pilot bushing? I thought that was for putting it behind a Renix? -
If it's factory, it'll be a BA 10/5. You should be able to tell from this thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11699

2.5 or 4.0? If it's a 2.5, you could track down everything you need, including a brand new slave(I paid 47 for one), for an external conversion. If it's a 4.0, that's about what I've seen the internals run. Unfortunately there's no external option for the BA 10/5. If you've swapped in an AX-15, the external conversion would be an option for you.

Cruise COntrol in a 5spd?
Geonovast replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I stripped out a 91 XJ with a 4.0/5 speed that had cruise. The brakes killed the cruise, not the clutch. I put the cruise in my 91 MJ 4.0 5 speed, and it works the same way, perfectly. I've been told it's not that hard to put a brake switch, or later model XJ clutch switch in and wire it to the brake signal wire. The cruise in my first manual renix never worked, so I didn't look into it. Only Renix I have now is an auto, it may be different. -
Put it under wherever your 4x4 badge is... if you have any.

I wouldn't put any kinda of badge on the door. Just seems to me like it's more likely to fall off.

Cruise COntrol in a 5spd?
Geonovast replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is... what he means is a switch to disengage the cruise if you push in the clutch. I just meant that my reaction was to tap the brake, instead of fiddling with the stalk. -

Fronts are identical, rears are different. -
Actually haven't tried yet. Managed to get another week with the kinda-step kiddos, so we're sticking around till monday. It's still leaking a bit... but not nearly as bad. So I've got another week to see if it's leaking anywhere else, hopefully not where the pan lip got bent a little. I also need to get one of the sway bar bolts out, cause it snapped when I dropped the bar.

A set from an MJ would be your best bet for getting it 4wd right away. Then you could take your time with the rear axle, if you're nice to that D35 you should be ok for a bit. -

Nope, XJ leafs are a lot shorter. You can use XJ shackles to drop it down some, and if you don't ever haul anything, you can remove the overload leaf. -

If it's not Limited slip, jack up one rear wheel, put the vehicle in neutral, and rotate the wheel twice. Count the number of times it rotates. That'll roughly tell you the ratio. I.E., if it turns just over 4 times, your ratio is 4.10:1 If it is Limited slip, jack up both tires and turn them once-make sure they both turn exactly once. That'll tell you the ratio. -

All AX-15s will be 23 spline, and they started getting put in halfway through 89. If you end up using a mid 89-90 trans, you'll need a special pilot bushing, but a T-case from those years will work fine. IIRC the AW-4 went to 23 spline in 90, so you could use one off of that too. Personally, I wouldn't. Width isn't the same, and it's gonna be some work getting it in there. You'd better off finding an XJ axle and re-welding perches. Keep it Jeep. Also, I wouldn't get too picky about your front axle. The CAD really isn't a problem, and some say the CAD housing is actually stronger than the non-CAD. You can easily lock it over, or pop a non-CAD shaft in later on. -

2wd and 4wd center consoles are the same, basically. You're little coin holder will pop right out, and the 4wd shifter bezel will go in its place. And not "any" 231. You need a 23 spline. You can swap a 23 spline input into a 21 spline, however, if it comes down to that. -
Do I have to drive up there and make you buy it?
