  1. You shouldn't count on that 4wd light for your setup. As stated, it runs off of the vacuum for the CAD. Your CAD NEEDS to be locked over in the engaged position. If the CAD fails when you use Full Time, you could very easily toast your T-case. Also, your 242 shouldn't have the vacuum switch on it.
  2. :fool:
  3. Back in the day, some harddrives had jumper settings that limited the space... I doubt that's the problem, but it doesn't hurt to check. Was the harddrive you cloned from a 40GB?
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  5. I'm betting your layshaft or a layshaft bearing is screwed. Identical to the 2wd Layshaft, you should be able to swap it in and retain 4wd. I would at least take the 4wd trans apart and see if the 2wd one can save it before popping the 2wd one in.
  6. What's wrong with the 4x4 trans?
  7. I think he's referring to replacing a 2wd one with e 4wd one for a 4wd swap... yes?
  8. Did you swap the external slave bearing retainer onto the 90 trans? Internal External
  9. AX-4 and AX-5 are identical on the outside.
  10. Check out Hellcreek. They make an AAL that's basically an MJ main leaf with the eyes hacked off. It's stickied in the classifieds.
  11. :D That was one of the first things I changed. I had one laying around, so it went on as I was putting in the radio. Rob L. :agree: Renix ones are faaaar cooler to the crappy Chrysler covers.
  12. DO NOT put the XJ axle on SOA with the XJ perches. XJ and MJ perches are also different distances apart. You would bend your springs out if you did. However, if you welded new perches in the correct location to install SOA, you're going to net about 5-5.5" inches of lift in the back. A lift this high in front gets very expensive, and there's no safe way to do it cheaply. When looking for a new axle, since you're fine with getting an XJ axle, try to get ahold of an 8.25. They were used in the XJ starting abouts 93. They're a MUCH stronger axle than the craptastic Dana 35. 93-96 have 27 spline axleshafts, 97-01 have 29 spline axleshafts.
  13. I'm replacing my brother's 3.07 D30/82.5 axles with 3.55 D30/8.25 axles. I remember recently there being a thread about the best place to get U-bolts, but search is being less than helpful. Dealer maybe? Also, what speedo gear would I need? 3.55 with stock tires(I think 225/75/15 but I can verify) in a 98 231.
  14. Take the injector out, and let it soak in injector cleaner for a day.
  15. Ya can't, that's why I said it has an MJ bumper, not original. :D
  16. My 2.5 has an MJ rear bumper, in rather good shape too (last time I looked) 4.0 has a giant piece of angle iron with a class 3 hitch tube welded to it. Frame's rotting and the bed's toast, so I don't mind slamming on my brakes when someone's tailing me in that one.
  17. Had my 2wd one cut down, ran me $108 for the cut, balance, new spicer U-joints, and a paint job.
  18. Old Man Emu
  19. Holy $#!&, something's actually happening when I'm already up here? Too bad Saturday is when I'm leaving, and it won't be the easiest thing to get to raid a junkyard on the way back to MO...
  20. Surely you mean CPS. :redX: TPS is on your throttle body.
  21. I've had the link in my sig for awhile.
  22. First place I would check with a misbehaving AW-4 is the TPS. You said you checked it, but if the trans is only acting up intermittently, then the TPS may be acting up intermittently. Do you have another TB with an adjusted TPS you could swap on for awhile?
  23. :agree: However, the T-case would not be a direct fit onto the AX-4/5. AX-4/5 needs a long shaft T-case input, so the Pukey's 231's input shaft would engage spline-wise, but not seal.
  24. ~ -$5.73 Realistically, I'd say no more than $50 for a "perfect" one.
