Going to put a new oil pump in the XJ. Should I get a high volume pump? And what brand do you recommend?

1984 Scrambler Rebuild
Drahcir495 replied to Drahcir495's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
I have had these step plates since 2002! just never put them on -> I had them powder coated soon after I got them. I put them on the nerf bar today -> -
I am sorry for loss. Lost my mom 2 years ago and I still find myself saying mom is going to love this only to realize she is not here to tell it too.

HI-CNTRD - 1990 XJ Project
Drahcir495 replied to Drahcir495's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Its done. I’m still trying to get them both home. I had the sagging door fixed. I had to get a new gas tank as mine was rusted. New fuel pump. Hopefully new gas filter. New speedo cable. The air conditioner is leaking. It shoots cool but only from the defrost vents. I will hopefully get it back soon. I couldn’t find a car rental place that would give me a one way ticket. I called them all. -
HI-CNTRD - 1990 XJ Project

I realize now that I don't have to explain why the XJ should be kept. That will surely relieve the anxiety of having to hear "its time get rid of that money pit - it is unreliable!) Now I can have a backup Jeep in the queue . Just another incriminating photo from a good friend -> -

My XJ should be done by next week. I’m going to rent a car and go get it. I have 200 milage tow through AAA. I just have to make it for 30 miles and then would be within the 200 mile range, but I hope it will make it the rest of the way 🤞 -
Very nice -

Still looking for this piece. Anyone have this?
-
Made progress - I used this stuff to seal the taillight cover back on the housing (I can't recall the stuff I used), but I hopefully can remember what is called and update this post -> Strip-calk? And the results-> TBC

I will be putting emergency flashers in my Jeep. They are ETD (Extreme Tactical Dynamics). I drilled out 1” holes into the tail lights to secure the strobe into the taillights. I have it in my Cherokee, as my son loves them. Getting started ->

HI-CNTRD - 1990 XJ Project

I’m probably getting the XJ back in a few weeks. The guy just fixed my door sagging issue. The fuel tank and fuel pump will both have to be replaced. Key locks are also in. Picked up a new battery for it. Probably shouldn’t say anything about getting it home lol no telling if he is going to switch to another project. -

This put a huge smile on my face -
Bored and no real MJ news. So while Trey was playing with the kids in the neighborhood, This meant me time in the shop. Sooo, I hung another Jeep CJ front grill in the shop. I learned a lot from hanging the first grill ->
-
😆. Yeah, hanging the CJ grill in the shop I got into that. I ended up getting creative and using the original holes.

Thanks for all the advice. I’m still not sure. I finally have the mechanic working on the XJ. The was the only thing I really needed fix. Now that is done, I plan on bringing it home. Not rust free and the floors are rusty. Everything is done except the engine. I have so much money into it, I will never recoup it. If I did sell it, as it was mentioned, I could get the MJ and Scrambler on the road. I should know better with juggling 4 jeeps projects. I will bring it home and mull it over. I would always dread breaking down in the XJ. She would always have something to say about it. You will have to “get rid of it.” Now that I’m out of that situation I have only me to answer. All I know is that selling it is a lot easier with it not being here with me driving it. Thanks again guys. I still have no idea on what I am doing

Thank for the link. Great pictures Pete 👍. Yeah Gonzo, they don’t look comfortable but it’s mainly a conversation piece. I have no carpentry skills, so it would be a challenge to build. I will search for a kit but I now know a blueprint is available.
-
Has anyone built one of these tailgate bench seat -> I have no experience creating anything out of wood. Do you think it’s possible for a guy with no woodworking skills to attempt it. I also should look into somebody who can do it for me? I would probably pay for the kit if it is being made out there

Congratulations on getting MJOTM! The fender came out good -
Help me decide if I should keep the XJ? I no longer have someone beating me up to sell it. If I keep it I’ll have 3 jeeps and the explorer. I have everything I wanted for the MJ but I would still need a paint job. Selling the Cherokee would (hopefully) give me the cash I need to finish both the Scrambler and the MJ. I don’t know. The XJ also was breaking down and I dreaded have my wife finding out about it and then telling me to get rid of it. I can’t decide on what to do?? As soon as I get it home, I can drive it as my DD and figure out its reliability.

Thank you - it is a massive relief.
