I had similar issues when the transmission mount tore.(The engine mounts were found to be shot as well.) It was allowing the vibrations of the 4.0 at idle to be very well noticed. Hop under there and check it out. Putting a jack under the transmission and lifting a bit will let you see if the rubber separates. Also, if the rubber is spongy or soft to the touch it is time to replace it.

Coolant suggestions - For the oddball.

I use Advance Auto Parts' prediluted antifreeze in my Wrangler with all its aluminum parts. I would not be so paranoid about what you use as long as the system is fully flushed and cleaned out before a complete refill. Look for antifreeze that meets ASTM D-3306 and ASTM D-4340. 4340 is specifically the test for aluminum corrosion. I know Peak specifies 4340 on the bottle. -
Sears will actually replace the mechanism inside your old handle while you wait.(For those that are nostalgic about your tools.) I always get full new replacements from Sears since I go in smiling and ask really politely for a new replacement. :D

That's a rare color for an MJ. If it were mine, it would be a no brainer. I'd use it, not only because it looks great, it's original, and the innards will match. A fresh Grenadine red metallic will look super minus the fading common to all our MJs. I may just do that for the simplicity of the engine swap process. Instead of having to leave the engine and entire interior out for a while to get it painted. I do not half do paint jobs so if it was a color change I would have absolutely everything painted including the inner firewall no one would ever realistically see. Keeping it the original color would let me keep most of the interior in place.(Most of the dash, carpet, seats, and a few other bits.) Plus the engine so it could be driven... That is so tempting of a short cut. Black grill insert on the 1997+ header panel, paint matched fender flares, black bumper to match the rear bumper.

Passenger front quarter panel replacement?
Alexia replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The grill and grill header have to be removed. Remove all the grill trim pieces and then finally there will be four nuts holder the header panel to the fenders plus the nuts along the top of the radiator support. Once those are removed the header panel can be leaned forward to get to the rest of the fender bolts. -
Grenadine Red Metallic on the truck after buffing and what it looks like on the majority of the body otherwise. Just went down to do the heavy buff pass quick to see what it looks like with gloss. Though I cut through most of the paint layer to do so!

This weird red brown color called Grenadine. I think it looks good on a Grand Wagoneer, but on the Comanche it has faded to a spotty poop brown. Of course, the original color would make it easy to repaint since I could leave the engine compartment alone. :P

I was originally planning on Rescue Green, but I think someone did that already. :P

SCORE! Pictured is a complete set of power options, windows, locks, and mirrors, from a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. This includes the wiring harnesses! Also, a nearly mint leather steering wheel with cruise control switches, matching clock spring, and the servo to go with it. The steering wheel and clock spring cost $22! The rest was kind of expensive... This is going to be a very cozy truck when it is done. -
1JTMG6417HT162171 1987 Jeep Comanche Sport Truck Dark Blue Paint Blue Interior Every single piece of metal is dented or rusted in some form. Located at LKQ Huntsville, AL and will probably be crushed in the near future. Seems to have working B-Pillar lights.

I have seriously been considering painting it Patriot Blue in honor of my first Jeep. It is a nice color!

I really like what you are doing! Driving me nuts seeing the lumpy paint on the engine bay side of the firewall. Must... SAND!

They have no problem with my 1.5" spacers with 35" tires mounted on Ravine rims. Love those inconsistent policies!

Thanks. :D For a quick text update, the entire engine bay is empty now. The entire interior is removed even including some riveted on brackets that support pieces of the dash electronics. Gas tank is dropped.(It has what looks like new tank straps and pump!) I just need to swap the front axles and pull few more pieces before the XJ chassis can be rolled away. Euramtec B-Pillar lights arrived and about to purchase a horse shoe intake for the older motor. Also have another piece I am looking for to make the truck really authentic looking. -
You lived 10min above the Mason-Dixon yet it takes you 10 hours to get to VA? I do not understand your point. Trust me, where I live it is the South, and I love VA so I consider your comment an insult. There is nothing "limbo" about this state Unless you want to wheel with us Saturday quit trolling my thread(I'm being a polite southerner but the redneck in me is close to coming out) Stop being so stereotypically southern. :P As a note, I live in Alabama. I did consider a far off ride this weekend so I would have a reasonable excuse if work tried to call me. "Yeah, I'm way too far away... and in the mountains. Uh huh."
-
I used to live a few minutes above the Mason Dixon line. :P Still never considered Virginia as part of the south even then! Over ten hours just to get there from any place I lived. Though some southern parts of Virginia are close enough to be southern USA. Virginia is a limbo state for me.

Really confused, this is the south east forum.

Resale price on an older vehicle and usually front axle collisions breaks the expensive transfer case by pushing the drive shaft through it.

Depends, who is your current host? As long as they support MySQL 5+ and PHP 5.3+ running under Linux it should be fine. does it easily support a smart phone program? I can deal with the glitches, but we could really use a tapatalk or forum runner or the like. It has a built in mobile skin for native web browser access across all smart phone and tablet devices. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9392221/mcfmobile2.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9392221/mcfmobile3.png IP.Board also has a native iPhone/iPad application that is very similar to third party applications like Tapatalk and Forum Runner. It also supports Tapatalk and Forum Runner on either iOS or Android. At work we do not use either since it opens up holes in our anti-spam system.(It bypasses our custom registration system.) If you want to mess around in the AdminCP on one you can setup a demo on IPS' site or if you want I can give you admin access to my site. http://www.invisionpower.com/suite/demo.php http://www.nonamestudios.com/

Usually around three inches of differences in the various front drive shafts across all the years of 4.0 4x4 configurations. You can get away with putting the average length in place of a longer one, but that is about it for the extent of swaps.

If it belongs to a kit, my local store makes you bring the whole kit in to exchange. If not, they won't exchange it because they don't sell that piece separately. Kind of a dumb policy, just give me the new piece out of a kit on the shelf and send me on my way, its the same thing. I have heard this about harbor freight can anybody verify this? I am thinking the reason they do this is that if you lost a piece they can get out of replacing it. Correct, you have to bring the whole set back. I am in limbo since my T50 impact is laying around in the garage some where preventing me from exchanging the entire set.

I will note I had two issues with my Craftsman ratchets. 1.) My 3/8" ratchet wore out after ten years of use. The new replacement is a little "sticky". 2.) The selector broke off on one of my 1/2" ratchets. I really have not found another ratchet that I like. I do like the new handles on the Craftsman wrenches, but the huge market up on that design is ridiculous.

I do not have a single problem with any of my foreign made Craftsman or Kobalt tools. I abuse them as well!
