thing to use to clean the carbon off the inside of thr valve cover? throttle body cleaner, brake cleaner or something else?

Can I use steel wool or an sos pad on the inside of the cover?

I used a bead blaster on my cover.. That stuff was pretty thick, so you might have to dig alot of it out with a flat screwdriver.. Maybe let some gas soak in it for a few hours, or day.

i use a soft wire wheel in the end of a drill and whatever cleaner i have sitting around... engine degreaser, carb cleaner, whatever

Break-Away works great. cleans bead sealer off tires. as long as you get the loose stuff off the cover and whatnot. then the other stuff does not matter.

I've used a product called simple green (I think thats what it is) before with great results. Let it soak in it for a few hours than take a scour pad to it and it wipes right off.

Don't use a bead blaster or a wire wheel on a 2.5L with a plastic valve cover.

I use Easy Off oven cleaner laugh you may but don't get it on ya, it'll eat your hide. Just ask me, I got it on my face once. It ate all the ugly off and only left me with nothing but handsome.

No kiddin. One time a few summers back one of the machines at work got graffiti'd on and low man on the totem pole (me) got stuck in the blistering sunlight scrubbing it off all day with oven cleaner. Wasn't fun at all.

oven cleaner is good for cleaning old wood on gun stocks, decks and all kinds of stuff.
