watchamakalit Posted Friday at 06:31 PM Posted Friday at 06:31 PM Our cooling systems will work fine in stock form for a stock truck. start lifting or adding bumpers and you effect the capability of the cooling system. I run a stock system with the exception of a mac's aluminum tank (fancy open system swap). No other mods. Clutch fan with stock aux. electric fan for the a.c. No issues. If your having cooling problems it's most likely a sign of underlying, bigger issues. If I could obtain a good plastic expansion tank I would have been satisfied with the closed system. The mac's tank seemed to be the simplest and most bulletproof solution. So far so good.

Get the engine nice and warm in the driveway preferably where the electric fan is kicking on. Then shut it off. Pop the hood and try to turn the mechanical fan with your (gloved) fingers. It should be hard to turn. Much harder than when cold.
Smokeyyank Posted Friday at 07:48 PM Posted Friday at 07:48 PM On the topic of upgrades one that I had thought of was using a misting type of system in front of the radiator using washer fluid. Thought was similar to a swamp cooler and using water evaporation to help cool. Basically using some small misters to blast the radiator then rest of the system does it work.
Spinnakerblue89 Posted Friday at 08:58 PM Posted Friday at 08:58 PM Not the most relatable experience by recently I have been dealing with cooling issues on my Land Rover. It seems a popular choice to replace the OEM fan and Viscous clutch with different heavy duty or severe duty models. Maybe that is an object to think on.
ghetdjc320 Posted Saturday at 05:13 AM Author Posted Saturday at 05:13 AM I often see the grand Cherokee fan clutch swap using a Hayden unit from Napa. I ran that and a 7 blade oe fan and shroud. Very good airflow with that combo. If you have a thicker radiator core though, there can be clearance issues.
