Jeep Comanche Seat Stud/Nut

Recommended Posts

Trying to remove the bench seat in my 88 Comanche and I've gotten every other nut off but this one on the drivers side nearest to the gear shifter. I've tried an extractor socket set as well as trying to hammer on a smaller 6 point socket but no luck on either. How would you guys go about removing it?20260405_170726.jpg.ed185be738eb6302d1a7a3f8f41e4efd.jpg

I wouldn't try to get the nut off. It's done. I'd remove the stud entirely as it is just threaded into the floorboard (nut will come with it). Worse comes to worse, cut at the seat bracket then drill it out. And replace the stud (or use a bolt instead).

Soak it in PB Blaster. Give it a day and soak it again. Use a wire brush and clean that nut and stud up. Then see how the nut looks.

It looks like you have a vinyl floor, so be careful with using heat. Using the wax trick (google it) may work out for you and doesn't require as much heat as turning it red hot with a torch.

Good luck!
