Pete M
tubular and about a foot long with a bolt hole at one end and a stud on the other. was in my box of Jeep tow hooks. probably from a rear hook? they usually have a side support. looked through each type of Jeep and cannot find an image showing this exact bracket (the WJ has one that that's shorter and the WK has one that isn't tubular). and google does not give me a result by looking for the number (also tried a mopar site). the # is stamped into the tube. any ideas? Pete M
I guess I should call it a brace, not a bracket. definitely looks like something I pulled along with a rear hook, but I can't find any evidence of that.
89 MJ
Hmmmmm. I’ve seen similar braces that go from the front fender to the firewall on a CJ7.
Pete M
definitely possible its simply a brace I removed from the back of a Jeep while digging out a tow hook and chucked in the wheelbarrel because why not. @jdog does this number mean anything to chrysler? 79983-c 0143aa
mjeff87
Isn't that one of the braces under the steering wheel/behind the lower dash that holds the steering column? I know I've seen that thing (or something very close to it) before, that's where my mind is taking me.

Seems more amc era than chrysler era in my experience. Fender brace for a cj comes to mind.
Pete M
this is way newer than any old Jeep we're familiar with. WK era or newer. I got to crawl under a Commander today and it definitely doesn't go to its rear hook assembly.

jdog
That's definitely a newer parts number, I unfortunately can't search for p/n, but the front part of the number is off I think, can you post a picture of the number. At first I was thinking pt/neon pencil strut
