Is this to mnch?

a guy e-mailed me and i think that this is a little steep.

"I’ll get pics of the underbody and interior which is stripped right now. 2.5L 4cyl, 5 speed, runs but needs work. Cap comes with it. Because of the body condition and RARE Laredo pkg, looking for $1000. I’m pretty sure I mentioned it, but it’s 2wd. I’ll be able to get more pics by the weekend." I was thinking like 500 but i don't know what do u guys thinkl?

Alright, how about this one? The Laredo package IS a rare find for an MJ. Considering that the body is as clean as the guy's saying it is, I myself would have no problem dropping the full G on it as long as the interior was included in the price. Even if the motor doesn't run right, or is junk, a wrecked XJ or MJ with a solid running motor can be had relatively cheap for a swap.

Nobody's even seen this truck yet and everyone's bad-mouthing it. WTF?? Where is the seller located? Nawth of the Mason-Dixon line? If so, maybe less than a $750 truck because of cancer. The Laredo is indeed rare, but I've never heard of one w. the 2.5 four. Anyone run the VIN? If you ever receive pics, I'd like to see them.

Not badmouthing it...just answering the question as asked ;) . He asked if the price was too much and has been answered :cheers: .

Not talking particularly about you Brett. But how can anyone even give a valid guesstimate w/o even seeing it?

serious here

I assume that said comanche is maroon with silver trim and maroon interior, located in or around VA?

if that's the one, it's worth every penny of it.

I'll tell you now, motor and tranny can be replaced, 4x4 swap is easy. you can't buy a good comanche body anywhere for the most part, but you can buy good drivetrain any day of the week.

so, if it's good body-wise, and still runs and drives but needs some attention, and it's a laredo (remember, that's full package with bucket seats, all power windows/locks, a/c, probably split rear window, definitely vent wing windows, probably cruise control too), then it's worth the money.

Well said Pat. Don't know if that's the one, but maybe. Laredo MJs may or may not have power windows/locks or cruise, but will have the rest. If the VIN checks out as an authentic Laredo, it will be worth some serious $$ in the future. Like only 5% of 87-88 MJs were Laredos. Eliminators were much more common. Most all Laredos were 2WD, but I've never seen or heard of one w. the 2.5L 4cy. But who knows? The Laredo was the model I looked and looked for, but never could find, so I built my own Laredo. :cheers:

I guess i should have told you guy that i own a 1991 jeep cherokee that is rusted to $#!&, i live in michigan. The xj is a limited with power leather seats full consoul and it four wheel drive with 66,000 miles on the engine. its perfect besides the body. I want a truck though so all i need is a good body. I don't care if its the "Lawathever" I just want a rust free truck. Ya its the guy from va.

k that truck is worth it.

your clues were too obvious on who it was. I want that truck too but I just don't have enough time or money to go get it.

but my point is all i need is the shell and i don't have that much money

*shrug* then you need to find a different MJ

it doesn't matter that you need just the shell. honestly, how often will you find "just" an MJ shell. much less a nice one.

you'd be buying it for what it is. it's in great shape and worth the money, the engine should be a easy repair. your best bet is to buy it for that, or close to that price if it's OBO, then when you gut it, you sell off the parts you don't need to recoup your money.

if you can't do that, then you've got a project on your mind that quite literally can't be done with your plans, unless you get that .25% chance that you find a real nice comanche shell (with intact tail lights and tail light wiring, cause the cherokee lights DO NOT fit)

no flaming or hating here, just telling you like it is.

sounds like a good find. this just makes me ask a question though. what is the big deal about the laredo addition? because according to my insurance card my mj is a laredo, but yet has pioneer badges.

Your insurance card isn't much of an authenticity authority. From the Wildman:

Your 8th digit in the Vin will tell you what package you have -

For a swb -

1= Base (sportruck)

P= Pioneer

S= Chief

T= Laredo

Run your VIN to know for sure.
