LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW
The fairlead looks to low for it to be the factory setup. It used a special 6000-lb Ramsey winch that was a little different so it could be oriented the right way to fit. Here is the install directions: http://www.ramseypdfs.com/owners_sea...s/295153-D.pdf Parts list from my FSM (Ver. 8J, Figure 13-1000) Item/Item#/quantity/description 1 8350 1124 1 EXTENSION, Rail 2 8350 1125 1 EXTENSION, Rail 3 8350 1126 4 BRACKET, Angle 4 8350 1127 2 BRACKET, Angle 5 8350 1128 1 RETAINER, Rail (Not Serv.) 6 8350 1129 1 BRACKET, Winch Mounting 7 8350 1130 1 SHIELD, Bumper 8 8350 1131 1 SHIELD, Bumper 9 8350 1132 1 STRAP, Inner 10 8350 1133 1 STRAP, Inner 11 8350 1134 1 STRAP, Outer 12 8350 1135 1 STRAP, Outer 13 8350 1149 6 BOLT *** 14 BOLT S012 1887 4 (1987-89) 14 BOLT J018 0020 4 (1990) 15 J018 0079 10 BOLT *** 16 J999 8112 2 BOLT, (Not Serv.) 17 8350 1150 6 SCREW 18 J012 0361 6 NUT 19 J012 0375 10 NUT 20 J012 0376 6 NUT 21 S012 0378 2 NUT 22 S012 0217 6 WASHER, Lock 23 J012 0380 10 WASHER, Lock 24 J012 0392 2 WASHER, Plain 25 J012 0214 6 WASHER, Lock 26 J012 0393 2 WASHER, Plain 27 S012 0384 2 WASHER, Lock 28 8350 1136 4 NUT, U-Type 29 8350 2247 1 GUIDE, Solid Cable And no, they are no longer available from Ramsey or directly from Jeep.... TNT
Thats what one looks like... I have seen them in the accsesory catalog and the parts catalog with all the required parts before but never saw a pic of one. Your pic shows the factory filler panels and everything. I'll have to check my e-fiche and see if it still shows it.
Tonedef131
How much did that cost as a factory option? I have seen it in my owners manual, but I have never actually seen one on a Jeep. I figured they would have been more common, I can't imagine buying a brand new MJ and NOT getting the factory winch put on.

HOrnbrod
There was a NOS unit that sold on Ebay awhile back. They pop up occasionally. Here's the install manual: http://72.242.142.7/hornbrod/Ramsey/Winch/Ramsey%20Hidden%20Winch%20XJ.pdf

Eagle
I have never seen a factory hidden winch in the U.S. -- ever. When I visit my wife's family in Santiago, Chile -- they're everywhere. Mostly on Cherokees, but I did see one Comanche a couple of years ago that had the winch.
