Ok, so let me introduce myself, I have just picked up a 87 MJ, 2wd 4cyl shortbed. I am an avid Jeep fan, currently have a very well setup XJ.

Plans for the MJ are as follows:

Strip it to bare metal, build a 4 point cage, plate and gusset all of the frame. Swap over the suspension from my XJ ( Fox 2.0 with resi;s and air bumps on all four corners, TNT LA kit with a SOA in the rear) Probably build a Ford 8.8) And then drop in a stroked 4.6. Pics will come shortly as the build starts, here is the MJ itself!

Everyones got to start some where. this is as good as any!!

Nice truck, hows the rockers and floors?

BTW, MJ's only sort of got a frame... still just layered tin.

Are you gonna record progress here with pics and writeups??

Good luck,

Welcome,

I like your build plan keep us posted.

I would suggest a more extensive rollcage to stiffen the chassis for the way it sound like you plan on using it.

So what other XJ parts are you swapping? Are you planning on swapping in 4wd?

Depending on tire size, your better off cutting down a Ford 9" for the rear. The Ford 8.8 won't be happy with the stroker and high speed stuff. Ask me how I know :D
