Hi all, I‘m new to forum after lurking on here for awhile. I got my 89 pioneer (built in 88) a couple years back and have been slowly doing more to it. When I received it it had a Peugeot which cracked down the case, so an AX-15 was swapped in. They also put in an interior from a Cherokee which I want to redo because it has been done poorly. I’m happy to be in this community and I’m looking forward to taking it out more often. I apologize for the photos. Going to get better ones very soon as the project goes along.

Well one thing is for certain. They stuck with their two tone inside and out.

Welcome and if you haven’t, post up your VIN for a build sheet, date and sold by dealer.

In the spirit of keeping things updated for my build thread I’m adding the media I have currently from summer. This post will be of the photos my friend took of the truck. I haven’t mounted the bar yet but it’s heavy enough to not really move to go drive it quick to an empty lot.

This next post is of its current problem. Also why I will inspect the vacuum lines and harness when I have the time. When the brake pedal is pressed the engine drops RPM. It has almost stalled because of this. For documentation I have attached the video. When it slows down that’s when the brake is applied. Pretty sure it’s the booster after some deduction and help.

After doing some research it’s *almost* definitely the brake booster like you suspected. It’s got a leak somewhere. How does the brake booster vacuum line look?

I would get a can of carb cleaner and have somebody depress the brake pedal and spray all around the booster, the vacuum line, and the vacuum ports on the intake and the booster to see if you can find out where the leak is. With any luck it just needs a new vacuum hose but I imagine other than that you may just need to replace the thing.

The brake system is on my radar since I’m planning to swap to rear disc brakes. I’m in the process of budgeting that project out.

I’ve been doing a ton of future planning in my free time. Doing my own research and figuring out how this build will progress over the years. Being prepared and having a plan I’ve been told is the best solution. So I’ve attached a parts list/wish list for myself. Love to hear feedback. Mainly on the brakes color coded red as that is my next course of action. Added a pdf that way all the links work and it is a work in progress type of spreadsheet. Comanche%20Rebuild%20Sheet.pdf.pdf

Update

Since being back from school the project started to get away from me slightly. So the Comanche is getting redone. It had a myriad of weird issues from wiring being amalgamated or missing entirely. So the most recent photo is of it stripped and everything painted so it go back on. Now it’s just finding parts and making sure care is taken to bring it back. I’ve really learned a lot from this community and through this journey so far, and I’m looking forward to the completion of the build.
