Hi all

My Comanche 89 4.0 AX15 4wd

Was sitting for an extended amount of time, started right up but had no clutch pedal and wasn't able to shift with the engine running.

Dropped the transmission replaced the internal slave cylinder, clutch kit, hoses. Proceeded to bleed the heck out of it had a soft pedal and still difficulty shifting.

Then decided to to change out the master cylinder. Re bleed the system have found some success able to shift into 1st and reverse with moderate difficulty.

Ive read these things are a real bear to get all the air out of. Any ideas what am I overlooking?

-no problems shifting while engine is off

Before I converted to external slave, I was bleeding the internal slave in my AX-15 every few days.  The trick I found was to open the bleeder and just let it gravity bleed for a couple of minutes.  No pumping.  Resulted in a beautifully firm pedal every time.  Just make sure the master doesn't run out as you do it.

Well low and behold the arm of the clutch pedal that the push rod connects to was bent causing limited range of motion.
jeezum glad that’s fixed
