Sliding Rear Window Weatherstripping

Has anyone found a source for the felt U-channel and rubber weatherstripping for the sliding rear window ? I can not find anything online when searching for Comanche parts. I have found a couple of past CC posts asking the same question but none have contained a solution. Has anyone found any usable pieces from another vehicle ( possibly a RV ) that work ? Maybe I need to walk through thru the JY and scope out other trucks with sliding windows when I get a chance. The area behind my seat keeps flooding ( gets wet ) after it rains. I am working on rusted floor pans and need to stop this leak before covering everything up.

Thanks

I know the gasket you are 100% at the mercy of used. No one makes them. Not sure on the felt. I feel like someone recently used a DIY type kit, but few beers deep rambling about jeep things so I might be making that up.

Yes , The water enters through the opening in the bottom of the center portion of the rubber weatherstripping channel. It then runs down the back wall

and seeps it way under the seam sealer and continues to run on top of the floor pan to the low point in the passenger feet area then out through the

rusted hole in the floor. I currently have a plastic trash bag taped over the window to keeps things dry while the floor panels undergo major cancer surgery.

I redid my entire window recently. You can buy rolls of 1mm adhesive backed felt strip, fold it in half, and use some kind of smooth card to push it into the channel. I used a 2" wide roll and cut off the excess once it was in the slot.

As for the weather stripping, I have looked across many websites and catalogs from various companies and can't find quite the right profile. There's a couple generic cut to length profiles on amazon that I may try, but haven't pulled the trigger on yet. I may try 3d printing a replacement in the near future as I'm leaking as well.

Thanks,

Looks like a good idea for the felt portion. Did you do both lower and upper portions ?

Did you purchase the felt locally or from the internet. Do you recall from whom / brand / part No. ?

I found a seal that will work for the sliding rear window. This was the last leak I needed to solve so my cab would stay dry in side.IMG_20230611_194805956.jpg.c5b5638d125ba77e82eaf8035e2dc802.jpg

As you can see the original seal has shrunk and now there is a big gap on one side of the window where rain gets in and flow to the end of the slider channel and the runs down the back wall in to the foot wells.

I was at the junkyard today and looked at several trucks before I found something that does work. It is from a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. The shape of the seal is the same as the one on the Comanche although it is a little bigger.IMG_20230611_194107990.jpg.3b23e8ffe1cc2fcf0f7541aa74d1a9a2.jpg

Ram one on the left and Comanche on the right.

In order to fit the Ram's seal in the channel you will need to trim off the "barbs" on the outside of the seal(non glass side). Keep the barbs on the glass side so the seal doesn't pop out from the pressure of the glass.IMG_20230611_193956289.jpg.024ae280cb94bc525357067ae85bd4bf.jpg

As you can see the Ram's seal is also longer than the Comanches so you will need to trim it to length. I cut mine down to about 12 7/8 inches.

After installation it should look like this. No more gaps to leak it to the cab. The window is a little harder to slide now but at least there should be a lot less water in the cab.
