87 4.0 air intake upgrade

I'm tryna take out the air box and put in a simple spectre air intake but i dunno what to do with the rest if the randome vacuum hoses (not including the main one that connects to the valve cover). what do i do

Its been a while since I messed with those hose for the RENIX. Two options. First, just put one of those hot rod breather filters in the front hole of the valve cover. Other is to route the front cover hose to the fitting on the air filter tube, between the filter and the TB.

Agreed.  Is there an aftermarket setup that draws air from outside the engine bay?

this is the best, cheapest XJ 4.0 cold air kit ive seen. its about 35 bucks total cost and all your vaccum lines stay put. i have all the parts needed purchased off Ebay, eventually it will be on here on my project 10BEARS build thread.

the stock assembly is not all that bad.    keeps things quiet and sucks in cold air.
