Removing black coating from windshield trim

I wanted to remove the chipped black coating of my windshield trim so I tried the heating method I found on here but got tired of touching hot metal, so this is what I did. Spray them with gasket remover, have a beer or two, scrape with a plastic scraper or even just paper towels then rinse well. Might have to reapply to stubborn areas. Worked great, no scratching! Then used chrome polish to clean them up.

Going to have to try this! Mine are flaking off, they've seen better days. Maybe plasti-dip them afterwards to bring them back to black?

I was planning the heat method for my window trim. I am thinking the gasket removal will be a much easier method. Thanks for the great tip!
